To be fair, the Viral Marksman Rifle Lasiq with BS attack (AP) is absolutely amazing. It shreds so much. The fact that Lasiqs have so little AVA (1 in Vanilla, 3 in HB) tells you CB realized it's power.
I suspect without evidence that the issue was related to new login methods shared with the new corvusphere stuff. It looked like the 'profile.corvusbelli.com' server was entirely offline for a bit.
maybe that was the case for the army web, it went down the weekend too. But the forums was a certificate problems. That was the error message firefox and chrome showed these past days
On the T2 note, the proliferation and enormous buff to contenders is notable because not only does Ariadna not get any themselves, the closest thing they do get is the Ohotnik, which costs 7 points more (for -1PS and a slightly improved rangeband on a trooper who won't benefit from it). At the very least, Scouts and Pavel should just have their Contenders changed to Contenders (PS=6).
Lack of MSV has been mentioned. While I don’t think Ariadana should get MSV2 or 3, they could use a few MSV1. Also, I think a good way to overcome it is to have Triangulated Fire as a poor mans MSV. It takes away all negative modifiers, but it has the drawbacks of being a long skill and you must already be in LoF. Sensor is also a possible thing. They only seem to have it on Antipodes and Voronin, who is unlikely going to be using it!
So how're we all feeling after the latest update? I'm ecstatic that my FRRM are actually usable, and everyone else looks like they're in a lot better place.
I am very happy to have FRRM back and their updates were well beyond my expectations. Also pleasantly surprised by the USARF updates in the last balance pass. I wasn't expecting much for them until their rework. TAK looks much improved as well and all of these updates have helped Kosmo, in addition to the targeted boosts to some of their exclusive units. I'm looking forward to more games with FRRM. List building is also a new puzzle for me as the changes were substantial.
I'm happy with the CHA update. They are pretty menacing now. But again TAK seemed to get all the love
CB did a lot of good for Ariadna with this update. I'm not 100% on board with every change. I think this last round of buffs for M5 are entirely unnecessary; and while she previously languished, the buffs to Uxia might be a bit too much. Conversely, I'm surprised Pavel got absolutely nothing, and the last thing Plushenko needs is to get even more expensive. But the overall direction of things for Ariadna and all its subsections is great, and the scope of adjustments for Ariadna went well beyond my expectations. I see no issue with keeping this thread around. I think metahistories are interesting, and it's worthwhile to be able to look at the state and opinions of the game and it's factions over time.
I was incredibly unhappy with the squatting of FRRM a year ago, but here we are and they're back, and so am I. My local group is getting excited to return to Infinity, and we have several new players. I've very grateful CB changed direction and brought back the sectorals. I've been playing the system for 10 years and the FRRM were the sectoral that made me pick up the system. It was dead to me until they were brought back.
Not only were they brought back, they were given some major upgrades. Briscards are really good now. They may still be a fragile army, but they have some real teeth now and I have enjoyed my games with them. Between the new ITS and the quality of the sectorial updates, I have not been this excited for Infinity since I started playing it 9 years ago. (I was checked out until they announced the sectorials were returning)
Faced TAK piloted by Chainsaw at a local event last weekend. They are LEGIT now, and offer great defensive measures, which is really the core of playability in Infinity IMO.
