Hi everyone! I'm here today to show you my custom made Teutonic Knight model. It all started when I saw the ilustration depicting the new (at least for me) look of the knight. This one: I immediately fell in love with it, and since I've been tinkering with zBrush for quite some time now, I decided to make my own version based on it. Of course, I also used the official concept art for the troop as reference, as well as the own 28 mm miniatures. Here are some pictures of the sculpting process. First some general blocking in order to figure out the proportions: After that, I tried a few sketches for poses. I tried a few and ended up using the one you see below. Of course the Tactical Rock™ is present here too. I've always been an advocate for Tactical Rocks™ on miniatures, so I had to add it somehow into my model. Both weapons are just placeholders from old projects, just for the sketch. I started with the helmet and the Spitfire, and kept modeling the rest of the armor and accesories, still on the T pose And after posing the model, these are the final renders. Some close ups: I also did some coloring inside zBrush since I was planning on 3d printing it and paint it. And at last, after printing it and painting it, here are the results. Not my best paint job, and I'm definitely quite rusty, but I'm happy with the overall result: And next to my Seraph for scale: And that's pretty much it! I hope you guys like it. This is really nice! Did you do all your modeling from the T-pose and then pose it? Did you make a rig for the pose? I have been working in Zbrush for a bit, and am always interested in finding out ways to improve my technique.
In this case I only worked on the T pose during the general sketch. Since most of the parts are symmetrical, I work on each part separately as its own subtool. Helmet, bracelets, knee guards, elbow guards, boots... After that I place them on top of the already posed sketch (grabbing the T pose, dynameshing in low resolution and posing with Transpose Master) one by one. With this I get the main parts in place and I can work on the other stuff. Thanks everyone for your kind comments!
Oo Impressive work !! Tell me, will it be possible to have the file for those with a resin printer to be able to paint this beauty !! P.S. Wouldn't you also like to work on a TAG Yu Jing? Just for example the Jinwei by Chance? Huh Mr @Weathercock what do you think? Thank you !!!
@bou I've got to ask, how many hours did it take you to design the 3d model. I tried doing a something a little too ambitious as my first project, but game up and switched to Laser cutting projects. Also what SW did you use.
Sure, I'll PM you the file :) Maybe about 20 to 30 hours. I don't usually time my projects since I work on them on my free time. As for the software, it's Zbrush.
@bou OH MY GOD this looks amazing!! Any chance you would be kind enough to share the files? I would love to print one for myself!
@bou Know I'm a bit late here as well. But would you mind sharing the file with me as well. Or like requested above if there is anywhere we can pay for your awesome work !
