Just starting a thread for my WIP JSA, in middle of stripping alot of my old ones of their red/white scheme scheme is black and warm yellow, working on an adjusted version of the Oda clan symbol for the conglomerates logo. So far early WIP on my first shikami Working on some minor fluff for them, atm they are a Japanese PMC started up by an Old Yakuza crime family that had fled to Tunguska from Yu Jing shortly around the time of the ships creation. The family is currently outfitting the PMC with Tunguskan money When questioned as to why the PR responce is the ship sees the company as a way to keep JSA as a nation capable of self defence. However the group has been accused of being a Tunguskan front attempting to overthrow the Current heads of JSA in a military coup and force the new JSA to make favourable trade deals with the Nomads. Taking a page out of Alephs book, Tunguska advisory group suggested the company take hints from Japans past to take advantage of the nationalistic rise of the new JSA, though unlike Alephs focus on heroes the family took hints from a more controversial figure, hoping that the ambition will rub off on their troops. Their motto and namesake taken from Oda Nobunaga's seal "All the world by force of arms" is their offer to clients, but most suspect its a thinly veiled threat of their end goals. Thread theme song
Wow, great story, miniature, base and color scheme! I am looking out for more. What color did you use for your warm yellow? How many layers did it take to get a nice surface?
Atm the formula is still a wip but its base scale 75s arabic shadow, with a tiny bit of indian shadow in the super dark areas Mixing in the indian shadow gives a slightly red tone to the shadows mid tone Game colour scrofoulous Brown this is the main thing that gives it a warm tone Highlight scrofoulous Brown mixed with some yriel yellow, Though I may swap the highlight yellow as the yellow needs to be a tiny bit more pronounced, maybe something averland sunset. wash- GW's sepia ink
Brilliant scheme. I love the bluish tone you gave your black/grey areas, which works so well against the blacks. If you don't mind, I'm going to try this scheme out on some Nomads. But with moar hazard stripes. :) Have you changed your highlight color yet? Did the Averland Sunset work out?
Ye ive adjusted the recipe a little 1- basecoat bugmans glow (my fave GW colour) 2-Game colour scrofoulous Brown 3-Glaze with GW yellow glaze 4-wash with GW seraphim sepia 5-go back over to highlight with Game colour scrofoulous Brown 6-highlight with a mix Tau Ochre and flayed one flesh, use more yellow glaze to blend it better step 1-4 works for fast batch work
Sweet, thanks for taking the time to relate that @mothman ! The glazes to tie things together are beyond my ability to see beforehand (being a novice painter) so knowing when to lay them down helps. When you wash/shade with the Sepia, is that an all-over wash or are you just hitting the lows with it? I'm trying to knock out a whole Nomad/Starco army in about 3 8-hour sessions, so a fast batch version will be helpful. I can always highlight AFTER the Interplantario. But I refuse to show up with bare metal of shame, and if I don't paint fast enough I'll be stuck playing frigging Shasnasty.
If you want to match the colour scheme really quick spray army grey Get Lhamian medium + scale 75s flat black (super worth it for a very matt black) and use it to water down the black, then throw that all over in like 2 mins a model Then id mix in any blue grey (I use scale 75s abyssal blue+anthracite Grey) and lightly mix it with a small amount of the medium and go over the black areas where you want them to be brighter Then work on the skin tones then the yellows if you have all the paints you can probably get this scheme down in about 10-15 mins a mini depending on how detailed you go. Though will look better if you spent 30-40 mins going over straps and highlighting the black armour more
cool color scheme ... and the transfer on the Kempei looks really great. I also like the idea of your background with the Oda clan. one little point of critique though ... if you changed the color on the hood of the Kempei to fit with the colors of the rest of your army (black/grey on top and golden/yellow on the sides) I think it would look even better (because of the effect of inverted colors on his back with the transfer compared to his hood). just my two cents, though
As a massive Shogun:Total War fan I'm loving the Oda theme, the scheme looks great. Horses instead of bikers? You know it would look awesome.
Time to post my other force as it is made the Tunguskan Boatmen theme song Not as much fluff on these guys yet apart from being the Nomad company financing the Tenka fubu will likely be a mid tier Nomad banking group with mafia ties taking a gamble that investing in JSA uprising will improve their odds as they have stagnated climbing the Tunguskan ranks without resorting to foul play. Faction colours are the normal Red, blue and black, just with some slightly different placing a few like zoe have some non standard oranges and other personal adjustments to their schemes. Focus is also on having a very heavy green backlight on them First Up zoe Intruder HMG and angry boi
