This might be kinda weird but I think my initial thoughts on TAK are correct, they're more a better version of FRRM than any sort of riff on USARF. the reliance on lightly armored troops and lots of lone model hitting well above their weight reminds me of all the lists i used to run for FRRM than any of the more link dependant lists i use in USARF, CHA, and Tohaa.

@saint I can see where you are coming from but the more I play with TAK, I feel their strength is in cascading links, something like this...

    3.5 SWC | 156 Points

    Open in Infinity Army
where your opponent will need to kill at least 5 models to keep you form having a 5 man link, for 156 points. They play like a better TJC, FRRM will control the midfield better than any other army.

You don't value the 30% a specialist has over a non-specialist trooper? I used to think that way until I wasted enough orders.

Well, we did start seeing CAD sculpts about then (starting with the O-Yoroi), but as @ijw said, the Muls aren't CAD.

I've got a feeling that FO is rarely a profile that gets a WIP+3 bonus in your missions, especially main ones. I also tend to roll for missions just before the game so rarely do I get an opportunity to tailor specialists I am using(if any).

Warranted - I probably would swap ojotnik scout for T2 strelok even in ITS, that's how big of a fun of him I've become :P

Personally i don't see the appeal of a list like that, but you do you, I'd much rather diversify my hitting power and not have to worry about or spend resources to keep all of those models within easy link range. And TAK does indeed lack the total disregard for the deployment zone that FRRM has, but it does have a lot definitely second most in Ariadna and probably within top five of the game(he says with very little to back that assertion up).

I was thinking about running a list like this. To maximize a big link team for the vet an extra order pool for the spetsnaz and playing the camo shell game.

I don't want to say that you're playing the game wrong, but that definitely is not how CB expects games to be played.

    It's supposed to be:
    1. set up table
    2. choose mission
    3. declare faction you're playing
    4. choose army list
Or occasionally choose mission first, then set up table second.

I don't really have to time to make a list on the spot. It's not very comfortable doing it on the phone either, so yeah. It's kind of like at the tournament - you come in, pick a mission then choose one of your list (which most of us make maximum two before the game) and let's go. And I honestly thought that this is how casual games looks like - in every place I played people did the same thing. Do people really create their lists on the spot as they meet with their opponent?

Normally we agree on time& place at least a day before the game is played. Simultaneously we agree on the mission to play. This way we normally have a day to adjust the list. In most cases these are minor tweaks.

I feel like idea behind 20x20 is that you roll for the mission on the spot, hence why there is less emphasis on having token specialists.

My group is used to 20x20, and so choosing the mission just before the game.

SInce I've started to push for ITS scenarios instead, I'm randomly choosing a mission when scheduling a game, so both players have time to tailor their lists.

I missed the first part of the conversation (it's a long thread) and I was referring to ITS based friendly games.
    Sorry for the confusion.

I now this is OT and and thread-jacking, but that was never the idea behind 20x20. It was just a silly idea and an excuse why there would be 20 primary missions. I recommend deciding on the primary mission before list-building and rolling for the secondary one.

Rolling for the primary mission was intended in the case you meet a random stranger in a gaming venue and don't want to have an argument about which mission should be played. Both players would in this case come with a list so no one would have a specific disadvantage.

I don't think anyone does this. Far too time consuming. Usually people agree on a scenario before they meet, I guess.

We do, but we're playing at home. So there's no pressure to get a game started/finished before the store/club closes.

@Errhile, I think this might be important for us, regardless of which system we will use.
