Should I replace pavel with antipode team?
I really like Pavel, but here I feel it would make sense to replace him with antipodes. That would give you 7 more points to spend. I‘d use those to upgrade the Tankhunter AP HMG to a Spetsnaz HMG since you now have plenty of AP and Antipodes against hard targets. The last 4 points could be used to get a Strelok upgraded to K9 if specialists arent so needed for the mission or otherwise just add a warcor

Finished a prep conversion my cold front boxes. Made a custom Ariadnan Mk12 out of the highlander grey hmg. Thought it turned out really good. Think it'll look really good on a Vet Kazak. My thinking was that it is just a modified HMG for closer engagements.
Hi @Bellyflop, in your army list above, who do you have in a link?Is it the frontovnink and the line kazaks or do you include the Vet Kazak as well? On another note, how viable does the people here view a defensive core team made up of Line Kazakas with a missile launcher, AP HMG and also possibly a Sniper rifle + some vanilla line kazaks? Personally I'm not a big fan of line kazaks in a defensive link. Although they are super cheap, they do not have the threat of Ikari's mixed ARO links nor the resiliency of USAr's sniper teams. They also put you in a position where you can't use your core link slot to support a Vet, which is huge. When I want to use line kazaks for ARO I just sprinkle FOs liberally on rooftops, giving me not only some soft area denial with a wip 13 flash pulse, but also the ability to pull tricks like coordinated order blinding a pesky ARO piece or marking the odd shotgun infiltrator with minimal risk Kazak links work best as offensive hammers. Our strength comes from or ability to apply force decisively and have the enemy react to our blows, not the other way around.

Yeah I also think it's a waste. Grunts in defensive fireteam works because it's not like you need core for something esle in USariadna (at least i think so, I've played usariadna only couple of times) while you have some really massive offensive options in TAK with frontoviks and vet kazaks. I would not waste core for defensive fireteam almost never. But I've come here to talk about something else - about Strelok T2 marksman rifle. I think that this has to be hidden gem of tak introduction. 8-24 T2 ammo, with mimetism. And on top of that you can deplot this guy outside of your deployment zone. Sure, he is only BS11 and arm1 , but fact that you deploy him in some difficult to reach position and you're still able to shoot at +3 most of the time on burst 3 is massive. And when you hit, you know that you hit. I have only played couple of games after TAK introduction but I just can't praise this Strelok profile enough. And I'm not even good at this game, I'm scared to think what good players will do with him considering how strong ojotnik scout can be. Can't wait till I get my hands on coldfront strelok. He is going to become stample of my every list just like inflitrating Uxia is.
I want to put this guy in lists so bad but the price is just bananas. You really hit the nail on the head with that assessment, and on top of all that you get surprise shot and you can put them in suppression, which has got to be freaking terrifying (T2 ammo, and -6 to be hit before cover and range mods!) I need to put them in a list sometime, when i stop trying to fill my Frontovik AVA
Honestly I just look at him as variant of Scout Ojotnik, since he does very similar job - strong attack piece in second combat group. And I find him superior to ojotnik - one additional dice, even with smaller maximum range goes LONG way. I find it so incredibly uncomfortable to attack with only 2 dices (HRLs, Snipers, Ojotniks). You might not have ap/shock combo, but why would you ever need it with T2? You're going to straight up kill any 1W and take down 2W models - that is not something you would do with ap/shock. And as you said - after you killed everything you had range for (which is a lot considering 24 + FD2) you just hide him or leave him at suppression. Definitely do give Strelok T2 a shot. He is what I would like frontoviks to be.
I really like your assessment and immediately went and looked at this profile. My problem is I usually use the scout for FO or LT, so this strelok not being a specialist really swings things the other way. For some reason, I’m finding it hard to get FOs or nonengineer specialists in TAK lists.
I am personaly a big fan of 20x20 therefore I put less emphasis on my units being specialists. FO part of 30 points ojotnik scout profile is definitely massive advantage.
Likewise, I play mainly MICS and 20x20 these days. RE: Core Teams: I agree with what you said in that Frontie and Vet core teams can be really powerful. I would offer this suggestion though - with a Frontie HRL, the Line Kazak core defensive link team can do a great job of protecting itself while providing a really strong order base to fuel mobile heavy hitters, which is a chief advantage of Ariadna generally. When I think of TAK's advantages, IMO they lie in a lone model's ability to project power well above its weight class. For example, a Spetsnaz HMG effortlessly picking off a TR bot, a Tankhunter HMG spraying a TAG, or a flanking Vet Kazak reaching out with his T2 rifle and X visor dropping HI on 13s out to 32". When you take a core of expensive Vet Kazaks, they're very powerful, but they're in one place at one time. One of the chief advantages of Vanilla Ariadna, IMO anyway, carries over to TAK only it's backed up by an affordable defensive link team to fuel it. Keeping the Line Kazaks in relatively safe total cover allows you to ARO longer lanes with the Frontie, and if he goes down, you only lost one order. Having multiple aggressive pieces at under 40 pts ea allows you to position them across multiple approach vectors and choose the one that is most vulnerable. You could, of course, use a couple of Vets in a Line Kazak core but in the few games I've tried it, they're actually pretty vulnerable to getting picked apart since Line Kazaks roll over easy. IMO, the biggest Vet Kazak fireteam I'll ever run is a duo. I would also consider a Haris with 2x Fronties and a Vet since they're ballpark similar price.

I think the best fireteam in TAK right now is vet kazak HMG, Frintovik engineer, 3 line kazaks (FO). You got B5 AP HMG on BS13 Mimetism ARM4 platform. You got engineer to drop the IMM states from him. That's just nuts. Then this thing and daikini link walk the earth with Kriza Borac - defensive links are just waste of points.
I've been using the hmg vet kazak for a scale reference. And it doesn't look like there should be any problems. And any that do come along should be solved simply by some quick and simple knife and brownstuff work
