Great 2 profiles to use on Spiral Corps, but on Tohaa we can still use the counterintelligence right? it's afortable cost and make's triad

My bet and hope is that tri-core gives the bonuses to all the triad and that is limited to one triad at a time. Moving a triad on the battlefield is way easier than moving a core. if you retain the same bonuses, well, that's amazing.

So in the new article the Taagma are now called Taagma Conspirators. The other interesting note is that the Viral Sniper option will also be able to fit in Brawler Core Fireteam. The idea of a Holo L1 Viral Sniper in a 5 man link team has me very excited.

Yeah, the simple Breaker Combi version is available in Vanilla Tohaa, and will still be able to use Counter Intelligence. It is a great profile for Tohaa.

I'm trying to decide if I want Taagma in vanilla lists, or rather just want to let everyone know that I *might* have a Taagma in my vanilla lists.

As someone who will still mostly play vanilla I am really curious how to make his Holoprojector L1 useful in vanilla. Normally I would use a Holoprojector for tricks like disguising a trooper with a long range weapon or heavy weapon as some closerange or harmless trooper to make a fatal strike my opponent could not be aware of.
But unfortunately in vanilla he only has a Breaker Combi Rifle, being neither a longrange nor a heavy weapon (for me a huge letdown from CB considering there is an SC exclusive Taagma MSV2+Sniper loadout which would be much more versatile and the really interesting Kiuutan and Kriigel loadouts are also SC exclusive, I miss the times when the differences between vanilla and sectorials were only Links, AVA, SWC-cost and Lt.-options).
In vanilla you could disguise his counterintelligence (pretty obvious and it tells your opponent that you definitively have a Holo-trooper) or fielding it as something very fearsome, so the opponent thinks twice before engaging him (but it is really risky to count on that especially when using counterintelligence your opponent can guess easily who the Holo-trooper is). The WHD model does provide a few additional options. You can do a surprise U-Turn or disguise it as a non-specialist which is ridiculous concerning the high cost of a WHD. All this is feeling like missing much of the potetial this unit has in SC.
I think it still is an awesome unit in vanilla, but seeing all those recent SC exclusive loadouts and not being allowed to use them in vanilla leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe mostly because they feel like completely different units with those loadouts and not like appropriate sectorial variations of the units.

P.S.: I refer to SC as sectorial. I know SC is not officially a Tohaa-Sectorial (they are "Mercenaries" in NA2 because plot yada yada), but looking at the unit profiles available in SC it definitively is just a Tohaa-Sectorial which will be listed in the wrong armybuilder tab

Previously we only had the Kotail, that wasn't linkable. Now, the Taagma let us disgase a weak trooper as a powerful linked trooper, like a Sniper Gao-Rael or a Missile Launcher Sukeul. Use that to cover part of the table and funnel the oponent to another place.

In Spiral Corps is even more interesting, because you can disguise a Sniper Taagma as a badly deployed plain Paramedic Kamael. If the enemy tries to shoot it...

Are Kamael in Spiral? I don't remember seeing them on the unit list.

(But you could likewise using something similar. Bioengineer for example)

Feels like a decent choice for link filler in a small secondary combat group - ie, the usual Gao Rael, Pokemaster and Makaul that provide ARO and fire support. Now its a Gao Rael, Pokemaster and a fake Makaul that deters attacks and gives counterintel. Or you have three potential pokemon masters as chain of command, though thats getting pretty redundant.

I think the best holo1 target is a makaul. The good shooting and ARO pieces will usually have pokemon attached, which the fake versions obviously will not. Replacing a backline Makaul with counterintelligence is a good way to get counterintel on the board. But that said, I would probably still just take the Makaul.

Obs waiting on the full reveal for Spiral, but the Spiral loadouts (particularly the sniper in a smoke/MSV triad) seem far more interesting. I agree with the earlier poster in that our vanilla versions of many spiral units seem rather token.

I think Holo1 can't take holo state as a fireteam member, isn't it?

As long as they just walk around, he can link and move with the team... but if he has to perform any rolls he is revealed

True, I was thinking about a weak linked specialist without long-range weapons. A Kumotail works perfectly, seems like a juicy target.

Holo 1 is not a Marker state so you're fine with it in a Fireteam.

I would not count out a Kumotail in a firefight. I once had one shoot down a Wu Ming HMG that had to get within 16", but less anecdotally, the Kumotail is still a BS 11 Combi, so the Taagma is only really bringing one better BS and Breaker ammo. I am liking the idea of hiding it as a Chaksa Baggage and then using it turn 2 or 3 to go after units that have moved into the midfield, and only linking it if the opportunity presents itself in a later turn due to casualties.

We were talking about disguising the Taagma Viral Sniper as a badly placed Kumotail to lure enemies.

With release of full rules: I kinda like that the only profile available is the one i'd really want to use (aside from tri-core, but tri-core would be busted af in vanilla). Seems like a no brainer for swarm lists, prolly swap out a line troop for a diplomat to make space for counterintel. Obviously not worth it if you are doing limited insertion.

Hmm, I know this is Spiral only, but am I wrong or could you have a Brawler+Schemer Core Fireteam as well as a Tri-Core Schemer in play?

Hmm, fair point. Having two core bonuses seems pretty strong though, at least to my newb self.

Yep, I expect to see lists that leverage this, with 5-man link MSV sniper overwatch in a static position and a more mobile aggressive triad still packing the same bonuses.
