Nothing right now says that FD Ajax can’t be in a fireteam. You can push to the edge of coherency and give Ajax the link bonuses while having him act as a vanguard or sorts.
Yeah, that sounds fun to me, a mimetism HI roadblock 7.5" or so up the midfield turn one. Especially since he gets cover bonuses then.
Yes, I played Ajax like this last weekend. I feel like he´s pretty strong now if you can manage to keep enemy Hackers away from him (The greatest threat to him imo). We should consider taking Acmon beside Ajax and deploy him close if Hacking is a thing in the meta.
Probably also want Scylla around for the fairy dust to give him Firewall as well has being able to scalpel out the enemy hackers.
Lt. Deva with triangulated fire got updated and now has sensor too. I mean it was an oversight, but it finally got fixed. On another topic, any of y'all tried Samekh FTO in OSS? I think I'm going try it as part of a dakini link in combination with Mk. 2 and Naga hacker for guided BS attack shenaningans.
My friend was up against an OSS list with double Danavas for repeater coverage and a core-linked Samekh. Absolutely terrifying that anything walking into those repeater zones gets spotlighted and then shot to pieces by the Samekh the next turn. Even if a marked target goes unconscious the marker stays with them, so anyone who gets too close are also targets. Hard to move anywhere suddenly.
That also counts for the Myrm hacker. A Myrm hacker with 6th sense and tinbot support sounds like a reliable piece.
Yeah, we are talking +100pts in three pieces, however, which means going for a Limited Insertion list or cheap bot spam... and considering how the greeks play (go first and alpha strike is still true despite Atalanta's buff) means losing 2 orders from the get-go, which means Hector must be the Lt2 to compensate :/
I wouldn't try to imitate what other factions do better (I'm looking at Mr. mobile brigada hacker TinBot: Firewall -6). The greek deployable repeater is the ekdromoi hacker, which is a repeater that can murder someone with his fists while using the hacking device to stream the kill via twitch.
Ekdromoi haven't got neither are repeaters. But I agree. We cant afford that link other than LI list. Think either spam of thorakites and myrms are the key. In the old days the tri-fireteam link list did it great, bet that nowadays too. Will come back to elaborate it a bit more. Enviado desde mi Mi A1 mediante Tapatalk
I know, it was just a figure of speech. Instead of deploying a repeater in the midfield, we just airdrop a frenzied hacker martial artist. It's like the famous "ariadnan hacking". Four-man link teams don't add much to the mix in the active turn, but I've tried to fit four trios in the same list and I end up lacking some important solo pieces (mostly hacking related and the solo girls)
No, but fluffwise Achilles is the penultimate warrior of the human sphere ( even if he is a robot ). Built from State of the art Aleph toys, he is the single most expensive soldier on the field. It makes sense that he is outclassed by Musashi in CC, as Musashi is specialized for that purpose - he then outclasses him in durability and gunfighting. But it makes no sense that he is outclassed by Shinobu, shikami or random artichoke snipers. Resourcewise that’s like pitting a karate school vs the US military. Intellectually its one man vs. The combined knowledge of mankind. - I’m not calling for Achilles to be unbeatable, simply to match his fluff. Say if skillwise, he is on a level with Shinobu, but Shinobu has the upper hand with Mono sword. It used to be there was a decisive divide between MA3 and those below, and then MA5 had a rarely relevant bonus vs several opponents. Now MA2-4 are basically the same, while MA5 is god-like.
It's not the mono sword that gives Shinobu the upper hand, the A-man striking at strength 18 explosive makes up for that. It's the extra burst in CC that she's one of 3 fistfighters in the game to have.
It doesn't matter how hard you hit, the problem is that against Shinobu it's a random roll (that also the JSA player can control, thanks to her hidden deployment and marker state) and whoever loses, has a very high chance to die (shinobu because saturation of S18 impacts, Achilles because of Monofilament ignoring all of his defenses, namely mimetism, ARM and 3 wounds). The fluff is directly bad, because it's not possible to make it justice. In the fluff, Achilles has killed an Avatar in single melee combat... which is kinda hard to believe, because nobody in his right mind will risk Achilles in melee Vs a competent player's Avatar, simply because he won't be able to close from outside its LoF, doesn't have smoke himself, and the risk of a Sepsitorized Achilles is simply too high (DAM 17 Vs BTS 6 => 55% chance of being sepsitorized). Achilles would need Inmunity (losing more than 2W in a single attack), Inmunity (Monofilament) and Inmunity (Sepsitor) to truly live to his name, and I seriously doubt he would be placed on any list with the cost of those habilities.
With a 3-4" Dodge on 15s it's actually quite possible to get Achilles into CC with an Avatar now. It's not like the Steel Phallus lacks smoke from other sources to get him there either (including his "Good Friend" and Duo partner, Pat.)
It would be simpler, sure, but I doubt a TI Achilles would cost less than 80pts with Hoplite Armor, possibly 90 with Mimetism -6... If they were to give him a "counts as a TAG for scoring purposes" I wouldn't mind, however XD
he should have that "count as TAG", with no cost! at least in SP. After all he is the humanoid TAG. But bringing him TI would be nuts.He is not the only troop in the game in which the rules doesn't fill what the lore says.
