Not having StarCo in your top 3 DOES NOT DISCREDIT YOU. That's not the point, just want know who my new homies are. You might not be sure right now just vote anyways or wait it doesn't really matter. Also talk about whatever you want no theme. What's your favorite Core? Are you aiming for a certain style? Post some paintjobs you made for StarCo. Anyways have a good day.
My favorite bit is the Anaconda/Brigada. Second is the weird low tech stuff like Hawwa Sniper, Cataran, Hardcase. Also this is my very first team with Impetuous WB! Holy crap they're strong. I've played a few but never seriously and never ones with smoke grenades or CC.
Starco will probably be my top team for the next year or so. Tunguska might grab top spot when they come out but only maybe. Don't see myself branching outside of Nomads (I really consider Starco another Nomad option both thematically and functionally). My love for Starco is all about that Mobile Brigada core. The MB in Icestorm was the final incentive for me to start Infinity - I think the MBs are just some of the best looking models CB makes. Having the ability to run them in a 150-ish point core means I can run lists I never could in CJC. The other cores are interesting but I don't see myself setting the MB core aside until I think I've figured out all the tricks it can manage. Having Massacre and a Daktari in there is just awesome. No Starco specific paintjobs yet but I am gonna get the N3 ABH with BSG done up as Spector at some point so maybe I'll post that once it's done. @loricus what do you see yourself running for the core alongside the Anaconda/MB duo? I wanna give that a try at some point too. Also while the Irmandinho is amazing I do still sometimes miss Morlocks from playing vanilla Nomads. Not nearly enough to give up the MB core though.
Probably mostly Alguacilles or maybe a Brigada Core with only 3 guys. Will need to experiment. With Geckos I do Alguacilles and mostly Wildcats.
Seems like the Algs with Emily would be a natural pair to Anaconda + MB Multi LT. Need to figure out how to post pics and I'll upload a shot of my much-beloved MB link at least.
There's my (previously painted) MB link, who've been kicking major ass the past few weeks since I've started Starco. Edit: I can't seem to get linked pics to work and the system won't let me upload. Will try again another time.
@Vakarian make sure you're using a direct image link (right click picture (or hold press for phone) and "open in new tab"). They won't let you upload anything bigger than a thumbnail to the forum.
I will be using them as one of my top teams, sure They are very cool, a different to play an interesting selection of Nomad and merc troops with some extra fluff to them. Also access to some really good characters.
Bakunin is lyf, Bakinun is love. But yeah, if I'm not running Lizards, TMs or Obersvance Starco looks awesome. I can certainly see me playing it more than Vanilla or CJC..... I should probably just seel my YJ at this point, I'm fairly certain that my next Slow Grow army will be Star Co (much to the "amusement" of my regular opponents). It'll depend on how much bandwagoning TJC gets locally. If a lot of people start rolling with them, I'll probably leave Tunguska alone for a while.
I was embarking on a bakunin project (my second bakunin project...) when StarCo appeared on the horizon - I turned into the skid and will now be doing both. :)
StarCo is essentially the faction I was asking for when I originally got into the game. I always wanted to play a Merc army but it wasn't really an option before outside of Qapu Khalqi. I've been bouncing around factions since, but I think now that NA2 is released and StarCo is there, I've found a nice spot for me. It helps I had a nomad army already along with many other faction minis, so I had many models on hand to just repaint and use.
Vanilla Nomads is my main and likely will continue to be. StarCo is second. I like both pain trains (and I never run pain trains). Love the characters. Like the "Mercs that put their word over profit" fluff. Still tossing builds around in my mind and waiting for models to arrive.
I will play StarCo more by the end of the year when I get an anaconda and the mobile brigada box, for now they seem more like a distraction as the more I look at them the more I feel I'm better served by Bakunin or Vanilla Nomads instead. I still want to have a cateran and a brigada link on the same team, so someday I will do that.
My main is Aleph with Bakunin second. I have yet to field another army despite having all three starters (the old Hassasins one) from Haqq and a swath of primed Tohaa. I'm debating between setting up the Haqq, selling them or using them for StarCo models right now. I'm leaning towards StarCo though
StarCo gives me most of the tools that I want from Vanilla Nomads with the "benefits" of link teams. It's a close race right now between Nomads and StarCo for #1, but when Tunguska comes out Vanilla will definitely be top slot for sure. #3 is whatever strikes my fancy, which right now is very fluid. I have enough stuff built now to do Druze, Ikari, FRRM, Haqq, and QK so I'll just play whatever the heck I feel like. All of the links are pretty amazing. I'm more likely to run the MB + Dak + Massacre core than the Avicenna/Emily + 4 Grrls core, simply because of the Haris option for the Grrls. The Emily/Uhahu Duo has really impressed me as well, I will probably try that and an Anaconda + MB at some point. My first impulse is to do TinBot + Anaconda, but Hacker is a viable second option for a beefy specialist... jury's still out.
Uhahu is great for the Sectoral, she's a very multi-capable hacker with the Icebreaker upgrade meaning she punches above her small size as an AHD equivalent too. I can't see myself ever not taking her tbh, for the price she's just awesome, so much tactical flexibility. Emily too, let's be honest, she's fucking ridiculous, practically a wishlist selection of stats, skills and gear. Only thing I will say is that in a Duo, you don't get the fantastic Spec Fire capability of Emily without marking a target first. On the other hand, marking a target in a faction with an Al'Hawwa FO seems very viable, and E/M Spec Fire is a notably awesome way of taking out HI and TAGs that would otherwise shrug off even heavy fire and drop back into cover.
FINALLY - a use for my Anaconda and Outrage models - and my Nomads can work with them too? I am loving this sectorial and I cnnot wait for my Brawler with the preorder book!
Well Uhahu has a pitcher, so she can mark targets for Emily, and she'll definitely be in the correct spot since they're glued to one another. It's also a "free" way of ranging yourself in. Fire the pitcher within 16" and then you get a free measurement of 16-ish inches so you can eyeball where the sweet spot is for spec fire on the subsequent order. I did that in a recent game and was really pleased with the results. But yes, Emily in a full core is a terror.
I really love light TAGs I use a Gecko(s) or Iguana almost every game and now I have a way to play the Anaconda. I'm very happy. I'd love an Iguana profile without a SWC weapon like the Dual Combis Gecko. Right now I don't want to Duo Anacondas with each other because 4 SWC is just too much.
