Hello, I recently dipped my toes into the Onyx pool and want to try myself with Vanilla now. I am a little overwhelmed with the selection that vanilla has to offer and need a little help with list building. There a lot of different units I really want to try out: - Sphinx - Anathematics - Charontids - Noctifier (learnt to love them) - Speculo Killer Can anyone help me with some list templates to incorporate these units (of course not all at once, but especially a Sphinx/Speculo Killer or Anathematic/Charontid List would be highly appreciated) Basically I am looking for a list with a hard hitter/Rambo unit and some specialists/ARO pieces. It's usually better to post a list and ask for feedback than to just ask people to make lists for you. Making lists is half the fun, jump in there and see what you can come up with!
You have to play the mission, but if I was going to use a sphinx on vanilla, I'd try to fit in a cheap aspect. I dunno, I don’t think an aspect is mandatory in vanilla, particularly with a Sphinx. Granted, this list is low on SWC, but the Q-drone can work as both offensive sweeper and ARO piece paired with a flashbot or two. You are completely correct. Here are two lists I find rather interesting. The first one is one I found here and the second one is made by myself. The problem with the first one is, that if I don't play the Anathematic or Sphinx really good, my opponent will crush me. Also he will probably use everything in his repertoire to kill them. The second list is a little bit more balanced, but the two filler Ikadrons and R-drones feel a little bit "wasted"
I think both of these lists are fine for what you're trying to accomplish (2 big dudes). Yes if your opponent kills both the anathematic and the sphinx you're in trouble but that's sort of the point with these kinds of lists. It also means your opponent put in a lot of work doing so. I think both of these lists are totally fine assuming the mission doesn't need a ton of specialists. Personally, I think Onyx does Sphinx best but if you want to stick with vanilla it seems like you have a handle on it. Oh, and Ikadrons are never wasted ;)
I like the combo of Sphinx and Skiavoros because, ok, its not an Avatar, but the two levels of Strategos are still really useful. For events needing less specialists you can also sub out a couple of guys for a Speculo, really double down on that extra reserve model. And if you happen to come up against an Avatar or Marut list, you've still got an assassin held back.
Thank you guys very much for the help. I am gonna try my luck with a Charontid and Speculo Combo against steel Phalanz (Achilles incoming) on Monday. I also took a E-Drone and some other REMs for the Buff. We'll see how it goes. After that game I think I am gonna give Leviathans list a shot.
