My wishlist for a revised QK consist mainly of changes that strengthen the Corporate Space Corsair Feeling of that sector (I began playing Infinity with QK): - Odalisque Paramedic Profile with SMG/Nanopulser (for both 360 visor & sixth sense options). Fits the bodyguard background as first responder in case of an emergency to their employer - Change Wild Bill Fireteam options to Ghulam/Alguaciles & Kaplans instead of Jannissaries & Kaplans - renovate Hafzas to fit them into their role as Naval officers: Hafza LT w/Rifle gets +1 command token all Hafzas get Number 2 change Hafza FO Profile to Chain of Command (remove Flashpulse and Deployable Repeater) add skills from the following list to existing profiles or create new profiles: Strategos L1 or Counterintelligence or Strategic Deployment. - Djanbazan Rifle/LSG profile: add Sensor or Biometric visor to that profile - add Mobile Brigada Special Fireteam option: Counts as Ghulams/Alguaciles for Fireteam composition - add some new Mercenary choices with AVA1 like Cube Jager, CSU (without any fireteam options), Kunai Solutions Ninja, Wardriver or REM Driver
That's an excellent idea. Somehow, he's considered to be on excellent terms with Janissaries. So I believe Janissary link should remain an ooption to him (purely from a fluff point of view, I have said befroe that compared to numerous Wildcard / semi-Wildcard options available to QK Janissary fireteams, Wild Bill makes little point there). Well, count me in. Though I'd keep FO Hafza as an option. CoC would be a separate profile in that case. I'd say, make 2 additional Djan profiles: one with Sensor, one with Biometrics. Both packing Rifles. IMO that's a bit too much. Making Alguaciles "count as" Ghulam was pretty much for me already (I admit, I'm of the old QK school). How about allowing a purely Nomad Alguaciles & Brigada Core? Sole CSU without Fireteam capability? Not an interesting idea IMO. Wardriver / REMdriver could be interesting, but without access to some fancier REMs (we still have only the basic set), rather superficial. I see no utility in Cube Jager. Kunai Solutions Ninjas would mean beefing up QK's traditionally very limited (to al'Hawwa) Camo game, as well as giving them Hidden Deployment and Mimetism -6 Camouflage capability. I mean, on one hand I'd love to see that in my QK, one the other - I feel it would mean a signifiacant change of balance - or at least, community's perception of balance - of this specific sectorial. So, I'd ask for very careful consideraton on that. ...well, as usual, that's my 2 copper fiq on this. Not an opinion that I'd value any higher :P
CSU would make perfect sense. Someone for the Odalisques to guard! They are Haqqislam Merc business people that are the real leaders. Something else maybe a bit different for Odalisques, how about rules that lets them Auto-Synch with any HVT in missions that require a roll and they are never hostile to them! MINES! Only one guy on the whole force with mines! Speaking of mines, Aida Swanson would make sense too. Good or not, she can make sense from a story POV. I've said this in some NA2 areas but I'd like to see a Tohaa Tident equivalent to Aida. A mercenary that is actually a spy for the Trident. Kriigel Agent, Taagma Schemer, or Draal Saboteurs would be great Mercenaries in human factions. Obviously AVA1 and less to choose from.
Are we still talking non-linked CSU? I beg to disagree. Besides, CSU are Corporate Security Unit. Fluff-wise, it is their job to guard - not to be guarded. While it would be flavourful to have someone for Odalisques to guard, it would be making more sense to have someone that has a reason to be a part of an Infinty mission / army list, and being vulnerable enough to be assigned a retinue of Odalisques. For example, a really proficient Hacker (think along the lines of Uhahu - she's great at hacking, but she is nearly defenseless in a fight), or some other specialist. Having a fat Silk tycoon to protect makes for a fine scenario (maybe an idea for Dire Foes box?), but I see no reason to enroll someone like that inot a spec-op unit roster...
CSU: cheap specialist profile and MetaChemistry (5in 20 chance to get Regeneration, NWI or dogged) can make a lone CSU quite usefull as it might be overlooked easily. Sure having AVA2 and fireteam (duo) would be even more usefull - that would be an auto-include for me. REM Racer: a buffed Red Fury Rafiq or Shihab looks quite nice to me. But I have never used a REM Racer, so that might just be wishfull thinking Kunai Ninja: Kunais do not have Infiltration or FD, so they would start in our DZ and thus do not really add that much to the QK camo game. Perhaps add Major Lunah instead (who is a Haqq Lady fluffwise). Still no Infiltration or FD, but also just Mimetism-3 and 1-use Camo.
Kunai SMR gets FD +4 inch (yeah big whoop). Major Lunah, is Haqq, but on the run from Haqq. So not good fluff-wise.
Damn, I just checked the Kunai skills and equipment - did not check the profiles. Are there any other Mercs with ties to Haqqislam? Knauf hid on Bourak after he left PanO (but he will not fight along Druze, I think), McMurrough did get his weapon from some Haqq people (after getting shot with that Viral Sniper), Spector is forced to work by some silk tycoon...
There's one thing that can link any kind of merc to Haqqislam. Money. And QK has lots of money. So much so we hire thieves to catch other thieves for us (QK Armada and their corsair ships). And it apparently works. So I'd rather go the opposite way: find what does QK miss, and then check what kind of people could do a given job for us if we pay them. Then, perhaps, check if they have some qualms about working for QK - qualms we can't overcome by offering them more money. Major Lunah is one such person - she's ex-Haqq, and wouldn't work for Haqq authorities. Knauf has no problem about working with Haqq, but probably fit better with Gabqar Khanate force: he certainly has some friends among the Hunzakut, from his time as hunting guide in Gabqar. In QK, there's too much chance of having a run-in with Druze (well, we could place a restriction like "can't be part of a list that has Druze in it", but there is no precedent, so let's not make one).
She used to work for Haqqislam intelligence services, but they did something so vile that she was a whisleblower. She became an aristeia star to increase her public profile so she would not be "dealt with." Later she started taking jobs with Yu Jing ISS. So she is not "shoot on site" like Aleph and Perseus, but she does not have a great relationship with Haqqislam Intel. The fluff also implies that Hassassain Bahram was alright with the events (her whisleblowing) as she is still alive. Some Fluff is available on her store webpage: https://store.corvusbelli.com/wargames/infinity/miniatures/major-lunah-viral-sniper-rifle
About Blue Coats, I'm not sure the Silk lords would like to have the space police involved in their business (and O-12 may prefer to keep them in the Circulars). About Druze, maybe their actions during the defense of Ghezirah could have an impact on their contracts with the Sultanat (they fled the battle in one of the last space elevator, leaving other mercenaries trapped in the city). After all, Saladin talks of betreyal about that. So, they could disappear from the sectorial or be more restricted. That could leave some space for other 25 pts units of the roster. For example, that would allow to give Veteran to the Sekban and avoid redundancy. As Odalisques are highly trusted operators (they protects the most influent people of the Sultanat), they could gain NCO (removed from the Sekban). About adding more mercenaries, it would be fun to have some Varangians Guards working for the Sultan (as a weird nod to the Byzantine Empire as the fall of Constantinople was because of the rise of the Ottomans).
Damn, I wish we had a super sniper in Haqq as it would be perfect addition for HB. Fluff wise, a goody two shoes like her working for YJ now? That’s rich. Oh well.
She respects that Yu Jing are honest and upfront about their evil, rather than trying to hide it behind a facade of humanitarianism.
Or perhaps she actually is a HB sleeper agent planted into the Imperial Service. You never know all the ways of the Old Man of the Mountain. And if you think you do, it is because it suits his needs to have you believe so. While the belief itself may still be false!
Purge these infidels with fire! :-D That's because an idea to base a sectorial entirely on MI is a poor design.
"It's not the war crimes that bothers me, it's their honesty in committing them." It's a really odd stance. It would make sense if she went to WhiteCo or some other NA2 trying to play the good guys, but going to Yu Jing because they are more open about doing wrong is an odd choice. I like the HB sleeper theory, makes a little more sense.
If they had just went with Druze as a society rather one specific troop-type it could have been ok. But I understand the idea was have a mix of existing troops. Not make Druze from the ground up.
Perhaps "The Druze" as a society only really have the one unit, at least in terms of the game's special operations focus. I applaud Corvus Belli for making an end-of-year throw-a-way sectorial in response to fan enthusiasm.
