It's sometime soon-ish. Preorder info is up with September/October releases on some sites.

Although I know they love games and are proud of Infinity and Aristeia! but i still tend to regard CB as a miniatures company with a game, rather than a game company who also make mini.s.

(That also makes sense of the otherwise-strange lack of interest in maintaining the rule set - the rules being seen as relatively unimportant, and even a distraction from their main focus.)

But maintaining hundreds of miniatures is disproportionately expensive, and yet we continually see new mini.s for profiles that people dont like, and resculpts for units that’re already well provided for.

None of this quite adds up to a coherent strategy, so have they ever publicly discussed their strategy for designing new miniatures; does anyone have any personal anecdotes, or do we have any reasonable speculation? (Or even wild and deliberately fanciful speculation, if its good )

Pure conjecture based on past statements and marketing strategies. For example, CB uses OTM to collect data of most used profiles and uses this data to help decide what sculpts to make next. It's not the only deciding factor though, mold wear level is another and there are a few more. Since releasing the Icestorm box, there haven't been any Grenzer releases so that should already tell you something.
Granted, in the past there have been little reason to release more Grenzers since they didn't have a sectorial, but even now when they do, we only get one extra sculpt for a troop that can form fireteam core. Maybe there's a box of grenzers coming later, who knows, but I doubt it'll be soon.

Really? MI just got a significant buff, they're a unit that can deploy a sensor making them good against camo heavy armies (eg TAK) so in the last month alone they became a lot more desirable. Add the biometric visor and they're okay at rooting out impersonation shenanigans (Shasvastii?) AND rules as written they still have msv1 on that profile afaik.

Grenzers are better than you thought and got better.

Yeah, specifically thanks to the FO Grenzer peofile that blister would probably sell really well among the Vanilla Players.

I think currently main issues with grenzer is there are only a few strong profiles, as they seem built to be pointmen for securitate links (though they are competing against spector and perseus) sensor and the 3 heavy weapons are all good choices. For their price bump I dont see anyone running a full grenzer core over a mixed securitate one. They have the issue most MI have where they are hitting the mid to upper 20s in points and starting to hit moira range where really you do better taking 2 for its kit than full links of them as full links of MI I feel still struggle a little to earn their full cost over a budget LI link or premium HI

Though on the ITS buffs can CB just officially give tags fatality now, im assuming the ITS was to test the buff and it worked fine so just add itt officially.

Grenzer FO, Sniper, Spitfire, ML and BSg with biovisor are all good profiles.

    Especially in links my goodness.

Yet CB so far had stayed true to their WYSWIG boxes.

    We will see.

Yeah, not sure where the Grenzer hate is coming from. I can't wait to get my hands on more. I guess if you look at all profiles in terms of optimization that's one thing, but I just look at what's going to be fun to play.

A BS19 (in its happy range) B5 Spitfire with MSV1 sounds fun to me. I guess other folks are free to disagree though. *shrugs*

    Or as a paramedic, 300pts.

But for the WYSIWYG centric approach, could be a Killer or Assault hacker profile could be added - KHD would be about 16 points so that's maybe more likely, Joan just takes her 49 point option, 300 points. The Boarding Shotgun Brigada became an LT option when the 300pt box dropped, after all.

so the Helot weapons options from the dossier are all specialist or SWC weapons. Red Fury, Shock Marksman Rifle, MSR, LRL. Will we see a box of all 4? Blisters of the 2 least desirable weapons (which we can’t even predict since we have no rules yet)? Maybe a mixed box like the Securitate?

Also I’m painting their eyes like Hypnotoad. It has been decided.

I really wish people would stop asserting this as some sort of universal fact, not everyone plays or is that interested in ITS.

Having said that I'm not particularly anti-Grenzer.

I assumed ITS changes were kind of like "Patches" for everyone to use
