I really like Joan2 for this mission. She’s a great Datatracker, having possibly 3 free orders if she goes Frenzy. Plus the other 10 in her pool. And as the datatracker she can push buttons meaning you can put that WIP15 to use. 6-2 mov means she can get to the middle of the board in a hurry as well. I’ve also played it with a 9-HI MO force and it pretty much cleans up shop every time. Hospitaller HMG linked with 4 Magisters, 2 Hospitaller combi Docs, Santiago Spitfire LT, Santiago Paramedic (soon to be replaced with KHD!!!!) and a Fusilier LT decoy. It’s a lot of armor, a lot of wounds, a fair amount of specialists, and a lot of firepower. I really enjoy playing it in general, it just works really well for Frostbyte.
How often do people take the 10pt fusilier bait? I can imagine how it must feel to over extend to murdering a lonely backline fusilier only for it to have been in vain.
What if Joan is in your link? I am trying to decide between pain train or a spec sergeant spam list with Joan. I'm playing MO.
I'd take Joan out of the link as the Datatracker, probably Joan2, run an OS link and then some HI to combined order with Joan. The new Montesa is great for that, and is an excellent assassin.

My data tracker was Joan, his was his SJ. He went first, and plinked away my TR bot, Nisses Sniper and Magister on his first turn, but stumbled his SJ into range of a REM that I promptly hacked. On my first turn I blew it away with a spitfire hexas and moved Joan to push a button in the middle. Joan got flashed by a long range hit from his cheap rem, and that stopped her murdering 4 kuang shi, a celestial guard and a hsien. He then spent his second turn murderizing Joan, and moving dudes up the map, as well as murderizing an unprotected flank of fusiliers, after throwing kuang shis at aux bots. I lost overall, he moved into my heated zones and flipped a console. We both realised we overplayed our hands with our aggro datatrackers. I think the game was mine for the taking once I hacked his SJ. I should have brought Joan to protect the flank against Kuang Shis because she would have been strong there, and I should have just continued to rampage with my Hexas spitfire after he'd already started my first turn securing a kill. I snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. We're going to do this mission again and revise our strategies, and I suspect not try and do too much in one go, especially with aggro data trackers.
Told you this mission is about killing enemy DT and just surviving with yours. Having 2nd turn it would ment you "just" have to survive Joan and (usually) casually walk into DeadZone at the end to win :( Nice list though ;)
Had a tournament Sunday and I managed to win thanks to this. My opponent was holding the victory at the end of turn 2 thanks to a lot of good rolls on his side but in the third turn, he was obsessed to kill my ORC with MR + Tinbot A and impaled on him his datatracker (Leila) and a lot of his order pool just to leave him holding the ground. And since he used a lot of orders to bring back his Druze team too, those guys hadn't enough orders to go far away the middle line. At my last turn, Bipandra brought back my ORC HMG and stepped in the Exclusion zone. All my Bolts died since I couldn't grab a console without sacrificing Bipandra but all his Druze died too (they were in the Exclusion zone) so I had a total victory just because my opponent was too much focus on the heating and the killing and hadn't seen that he gave me the victory at the end of his turn 3 already.
Yeah, indeed. My strategy was undone because it required me to tank a rem flashpulse at long range and for it to not flash me. Like, high risk high reward strategies have a place, if i'd have survived it i'd have cleaned house on the flank and dealt with the smoke throwers which wouldn't have allowed @mordye to murder her with smoke/msv2 tricks on the next turn (over 9 orders). But it failed, and it cost me the game. Turns out that wasn't the place for a high risk / high reward strategy. It was the place for attrition and hiding, you're right. This is exactly why we practice for tournaments :)
Well I dont want to appear "guy who knows everything" this tip about Frostbyte has been also showed to me by our top player, as he said that killing DT (and keeping yours) is all this mission is about. Heaters are distraction (or at best tie-breaker).
Pathfinder Datatracker (or Deva?), apply Swiss/Squalo to enemy DT. Profit. You can add Aida Swanson for lulz.
Sorry, if it has been pointed out before, but isn't Frostbite a Limited Insertion mission? Also my two cents: I ran MO with the new biker Montesa paramedic + Joan v2 Spitfire + Hospitaller HMG,Multi Doc, and 3 magisters + some fillers. Both the bike and Joan are fantastic fast attack pieces, and both really shine as datatrackers
It's not. There was a copy-paste error in initial version of the ITS10 pdf which listed limited inserion alongside mission "tags" but it was confirmed to be an error.
Well wadayaknow? Do they update the pdf in this case on the site, or am i just supposed to remember the errors?
NCA as good at killing stuff and good at running HI. So you'll need to have more points survive than the other guy and hopefully tie or win ob Datatracker kills. Clear a path and kill the Datatracker with a walk on Garuda Spitfire. Don't get baited into taking an aggressive Datatracker and stick with a basic backfiels LI that would otherwise freeze to death. If your opponent wastes time on pushing buttons early punish him by killing his troops for it. Bring TO AROs to make life hard for him. It's not exactly a walk in the park but the mission actually plays to NCA's strenghts.
I think that there's an argument for taking a Locust as your Datatracker and then using Infiltration not for position but just to hide in the deepest darkest hole you can get, before making your run to mid table in the last turn.
