My current limited N4 experience on the table and in recent theory crafting with the space snakes has been a bit rough. I was disheartened at first but now I've bounced back and I'm determined to try and figure them out. Coming from PanO I was always a fan of the caveman tactics of applying link team directly to your opponent and cleaning up afterwards, which doesn't really work as well in Shas as I've fallen into the trap of trying to take a full Nox team in most of my lists. Being expensive, not that strong, and taking up a 1/3 of the unit space now I am struggling to find a worthwhile application for them outside of maybe fueling Sheskiin.
So I've been trying to play around with lists with out the core (or at least a full core) and I'm struggling to come up with anything that looks really decent out side of max Caliban/Shrouded Camo spam.

So I'd like to request some examples of lists that you guys have tried or have come up with this edition to try and compare and see where I'm going wrong. Also what kind of units/tools you focus on implementing regularly in the N4 climate, especially when dealing with the increase of heavily armoured units and abundance of hackers.

Any other advice is welcomed to.

I mean, camo spam is definetely a way to go. However, if you're looking for something that makes use of fireteams while still feeling Shasvastii, the other day I played this list. I ended up losing against Vanilla PanO, but I feel the list is solid, maybe you could drop one of the Shrouded for a Worm Doc.

Shas played almost exclusively without fireteams since N2, and it was only their rework which introduced a working fireteams (previously the only useful one were Gwailos, which required shaping the whole list around them while discarding the typical Shas tricks).

Nox are expensive because all CA line troops are, it's a built-in faction drawback. But they're decent as a defensive fireteam with a sniper and/or T-Drone, on their own they make for a decent corner guardians - DTW weapon on a basic trooper is a big deal - and there are some decent Wildcards in SEF to build a link that fills your needs. (Sheskiin is better off on her own, going after some edibles). That Zapper is also a good counter for those armored units you've mentioned.

I got into SEF via exactly the same route - my first armies were Acon and MO, and I wanted something more subtle than the usual PanO sledgehammer. SEF delivers, though after rework they do both subtle and brutal very, very well. Here's something I might try if I didn't want to take a full Nox team (which I usually do, basic Core team is very useful, even for this price):

Currently, I'm finding the Speculo Minelayer over-kill and the Shrouded Killer Hacker unnecessary. I'm quite keen to find the points for an additional "big gun" of some kind.

Hasht instead of the KHD Shrouded would net you a gun without losing out on specialists, but no forward deployment or camo... MSV Spitty Caliban would also be a solid choice, just not a specialist.

EDIT - and finding the pts, of course... apologies, just got out of bed

    Caliban Spitfire does solid work.

If you downgrade the Speculo Minelayer to another profile, you can swap the Caliban Forward Observer and the Shrouded Killer Hacker for a Seed Soldier Forward Observer or Paramedic, and the Caliban Spitfire.

This does cost you a specialist, but means that your specialists can focus on specialisting, and your Caliban can focus on murdering people to death.
