I got my set on the weekend. :) What I did to make the the swords different was to clip off the handle at the pommel on the MR body. At first it was going to be nothing more than that. But then I got the idea of drilling out the scabbard of the HRL and filed down the handle a bit. Then just glued it in. It was a little trick since I I didn't get the idea until after I put the HRL arm on. I didn't need to pin since the I mad the handle pin itself.
If I had thought about it from the beginning, I would have cut the handle off a little nicer. I just clipped it off and filed it. But it worked out pretty well. I'm glad I didn't just throw it away!
I'm still disappointed I can't make a full man Shang Ji list. It's almost impossible to have 4-5 Shang Ji and the rest of the army be any good. After them, I can't afford other good troops. But that's the way of Yu Jing I guess.
I played a variant of this on a recent tournament. It uses the whole new box of ShangJi and comes with 15 orders. I was having a poke through some old stuff. This is the N4 concept for the Shang Ji Except they're not actually N4 concept art at all. These images are over a decade old. And that is amazing. One of the most beautiful designs from CB, kept unchanged and just made better by the new sculpting and technological capabilities.
Also gives us a good idea of what a CB would make a female Shang Ji look like. Proportions are similarly fucked up as the Zuyong.
Marred by the fact it took 12 years to come out. They could have done them before and updated them later, like they have done with many others.
I kinda want to laugh, but two salty posts about the ShanJi when we got an amazing new box with a design that still endures as one of the best ones in the whole range? Yes, they COULD come up with a fucked up female (they didnt), they could have released them earlier (and nobody take them, remember how they were trash in N3? I do, I was like the one guy in the whole southamerica to actually field the Spit TA ShanJi).
Just because the profiles are fucking garbage doesn't mean we don't buy the miniatures just because they look nice. The Guijia was just as maligned as the Shang Ji in N3 and I still wound up getting multiple Guijia. Same reason I bought a Shikami despite it being crap (which it still is) because I loved his stupid rice hat right before that got bait 'n' switched out of the faction.
I think one is female but you just can't tell with all of the armor. It's the Multi-rifle doing the runway walk BTW. Though my old SJ is still in use as Sgt. Cam Nguyen. She may be small but she packs a punch!
