CJC starter has been showing its age since Icestorm dropped.
The timeframe, however, is correct for the intention to be there with the design process.
I wasn't going to originally label the Grenzer as anything other than CR+LFT. Because that's what it is. That's what the box, as far as I can recall, actually said on it. Just "Combi Rifle and Light Flamethrower". Maybe it was intended to be a Foward Observer or maybe they added that to the webstore for whatever reason but it's not really unheard of for this nonsense to be happening.
And frankly, if you don't think that CB mislabels their boxes or sometimes has the wrong product info? Remember that the webstore says this for the USARF pack while it was heavily billed as being a Forward Observer from the outset:
1x Foxtrot (Rifle)
With Icestorm now being discontinued it wouldnt surprise me if they repackage the grenzer MSR into the grenzer box and we just never see the 'tate sniper (no real loss in my opinon).
That being said we already have all the important grenzer models anyway and would much prefer to get a RF Heckler aat some point in the near future, or AHD zondnautica.
I don't think they've discontinued the Nomads Starter so combi Alguaciles and the sniper Grenzer are still available.
Forgot about the starter pack.
Great! in the end we only had to wait 2 years for this model. As others have said, I think the feverbach is "small" compared to others. It is ok for me because it is also "modular" as other nomad weapons, but is strange to me. The pose is correct (not new, but also not outdated), I would like this blister came with 2 heads, so we could build 2 of them that are already different without conversion. The MSR would algo be nice, but I don't spect them to do it. Maybe next will be the grenzer box? (I would like, but I don't spect it)
Regarding the FO topic. Most of them are in the paint boxes, so don't spect to see sculpts for all FO in the game. Ever more, I think those will be mainly the only ones (the same as Paramedic)
But I do not spect to see nomads in C1 2021. And if we do, well... maybe we have to say goodbye to morans. Why? one of the most used troops in the game but didn't get any mini revision? seems to me that they will be one of those units that will "dissapear" to bring more "space dessign".
Well, I know I am beign pessimistic in this and I hope I am mistaken in here, but have been years since CB have spent a bit of extra work (or at least, the same as they do with the premium factions) in a nomad release (released a sectorial with no lore for a year, basic box for a basic unit mistreated since n1 with only 3 models, no box for the MI of that sectorial, the faction with older models in the game since a few years but with the fewer updates of models, etc).
We only have two models, we're missing most of the other profiles.
Spitfire and ML are very important especially if grenzer are getting fixed in N4.
I don't think they will be "fixed" in N4. Just another not to useful unit. Especially in vanilla there is no place for them. There are many other units without most of the profiles modeled. It's always space for conversion.
Spitfire sure, that has some use, though I wish the ML was an actually useful weapon like a HRL, but for the most part it is just superseded by the 'tate feuerbach or grenzer MSR.
You think CB will fix them? No, that will not happen. They put interventors for them to link to make it more interesting instead of trying something really useful. They need to be worked on too much. But I would like to see a box, with spitfire, ML, hacker and BSG, maybe in one or two years.
I prefer the ML than the MSR or a HRL, in the 'tates fireteam is the most effective ARO we have (but is a bit expensive). Actually, the HRL would step on the feverbach spot.
The word is out that MI will get some adjustments, I'm sure they are not going to stay the same.
For ARO duties I also prefer ML to MSR, It's a bit cheaper and potentially more devastating.
MI maybe, but unit by unit is what is needed... and unit by unit is what I don't think will happen. Sorry, after seeing how CB is managin the N4 incoming, I have a lots of doubts that TJC will be touched at all. Nomad sectorials sell well, so they touch the bare minium
I find MLs to be seldom worth the inclusion, cumbersome, unwieldy and mostly unreliable especially on most infantry platforms. This is mostly due to the godawful range bands it has and it's often disappointing active turn performance meaning it has little to no flexibility. What ever an ML can pretty much any other weapon can do far better to one degree or another.
AP+EXP or EXP cover-ignoring ammunition is very powerful, the template can get extra troopers in there, and its range its a little longer than HMG, so its a good option to hunt down total reaction bots, and some other troopers, but of course, is not so good at mid-short range
Sniper rifles can nail TR bots and are far more reliable and flexible, AP+EXP is overkill for that purpose. It's often far more effective I've found to get under the 16 or the 8 if possible and nail it with another weapon like a red fury or shotgun unless you can -12 it you probably shouldn't engage it.
Engagements beyond the 32" are rare enough that the cost is pointless for such an incredibly specialised weapon. However if you play on more open tables or DZ doom towers at the back of the board that can see the entire table then you may actually get some useful mileage out of it. But most of the time I have put MLs on the table the performance has ranged from below average to plain awful.
TLDR; it is far too terrain dependent for my liking, making it unreliable.
Honestly if Tunguska doesn't get some adjustments I'll probably leave it on the shelf and play something else. I decided I'm not gonna buy a single model until N4 drops.
Why? What si the problem with Tunguska? I was Bakunin and Valilla player, but now I'm starting with Tunguska so I want to know the problems.
there are some posts about it, but you will not find consensus about it. For some of us, is a rushed/underworked sectorial, with a lot of weak points and not enough strong points to compensate it
Answer without answer, like - "Problem is you know what..." I ask because I don't know where are the weak points. I know it's not Corregidor, but where is the main problem? I ask, because I was hoping for an opinion, not enigma.
I too think Tunguska was rushed and has many weaknesses IMO too many for just one sectorial. it's one of the less flexible sectorials.
I'm gonna be brief about it.
No cheap warband.
No cheaper camo infiltrators.
No MSV 2.
Not a single wildcard(I believe the only sectorial of the new ones who hasn't a WC)
Limited fireteam options.
No chain of command(the usual Nomad weakness)
Weak midfield presence.
No camo minelayer except one regular puppetmaster profile in deployement zone.
If you look at the stronger sectorials atm. Shasvasii, Dashat, Tak, the White Banner and some others are filled with options
and contain most of the things listed above. They can adapt more easily when needed.
I don't wanna drive you away from Tunguska It is playable of course and has quite some strengths, Hollow men, hacking, jammers,
Kriza, Puppets (though vulnerable) but IMO needs some help.
