I certainly hope one of the profiles is a Lt. But it'll probably be one with FD lvl 2 just for giggles. ;-D I know I'd be adding a lot of Eclipse smoke if I was designing PanOceanian units. So I guess it's good I'm not. I'd also be adding a LOT more AuxBot options, so missing out on Warbands didn't hurt us so much.
The more I reflect here, the more convinced I am that costly LTs are the price MO will pay for this surge of new options. I'm expecting something even more extreme that Corregidor, because I'm not even sure there will be a 1 SWC linetrooper LT available. I don't think this is a bad thing, but MO enthusiasts might want to start brainstorming how to structure lists around it.
Well it won't be pretty ;P MO in general will have to learn to play with semi-active Lt options ;D (in contrast to either "full rambo Joan" or "please don't kill me Fusilier").
Corregidor don't get CoC (Nomads in general lack fancy C&C options these days, in fact). But they do get the Wildcat and Intruder LTs, which are 0 SWC (and the Intruder LT, while pricy, is excellent if you want to keep your guy safe at any costs). Feels like the LT options for MO will be big, bold and obvious. Like, the Santiago Spitfire LT is an excellent choice, but obviously is going to be in the line of fire.
I think it's going to be pretty necessary to include your Lt in your Core most of the time. IF you are fielding a Core of Knights. Otherwise I think that the pairing of an offensive Knight Lt with a Sepulchre CoC along with Order Sergeant Core and support is going to be a viable build at long last.
PanO hasn't been great at using that LT Order. It's been kind of a non-entity for our lists forever, outside of Joan (the gal who breaks all the rules.) I like that CB has tightened up the design with these most recent Sectorial releases. The Zulu Cobra Sensor+Jammer isn't just an LT for certain situations, but could safely be taken in any list, and can always find something to do with an LT Order while remaining very safe. MO certainly will be putting LTs up front, which seems thematically appropriate for them as long as they have the infrastructure to sustain it... While I'm not a big MO guy, I like the idea of ultra-aggressive Mobility Joan with that Chain of Command security blanket. It's a nice concept, not having to babysit her all game. Her new mini also makes that a fun option.
Yeah, this is just one more place where the design space for PanOceania has really been opened up and we are feeling the love, at long last.
Hey people, I know MO is happy with getting CoC, but this is nothing new in PanO. PanO has long had the best CoC option in the game, so don't forget that. Frankly, next to Singh, Sepulchre CoC looks really bad.
thats a joke right....the CoC that gives up its other core reason for existing to work? Dont get me wrong, I love singh, B4 0SWC BS13 Scoring AD gets work done and obviously pays a premium for it (which im ok with) but his CoC is barely functional leaving him more as a "specialis" than chain of command
Seeing as this is becoming the general MO changes thread I present the following Pts arent totally accurate for the hospitallers (they are cheaper) but for the most part this is right. The Deathstar is dead! Long live the Deathstar! Deathstar ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 KNIGHT HOSPITALLER HMG / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 41) JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (+1 | 50) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO KHD Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Tinbot A/ Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 39) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO KHD Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Tinbot A/ Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 39) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) MACHINIST (Father-Engineer) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) 5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Id run that it looks fun as balls and its a real rock
I'm not sure if it's a bad thing to have a CoC on Sepulchre. Likely MO will have expensive HI LT options, on top of that an expensive HI CoC would give some redundancy. Your opponent has to get rid of two HI in order to put you in LoL. It would be a lot easier to have a (few) cheap CoC next to some rambo LT, but not everyone can be a Kaeltar. I think the main problem with Singh is that it's really expensive, and doesn't really work as a CoC, mostly because it's possible, that it's not even on the table when you get into LoL, then he's a fragile AD troop, which is likely to go down hunting, and easy to hunt down for the enemy. Losing your LT is public info, so your opponent knows when he has to go after Kirpal. Sepulchre has a bit similar problem in that it's a rambo piece (or a really expensive cheerleader in hiding), but his CoC is on all the time, and being a HI and having Holoecho gives him a lot more survivability than Singh have.
The interesting thing, I think, will be playing aggressively with a Knight Lt and then using the Sepulchre as a reserve.
Id look at it the other way. This is a tough scoring holo2 HI with a good gun. Its a bonus (and a really nice one) that it takes over if you obvious Lt gets jobbed. Additionally, if we do get insanely lucky and the OS get a cheap Lt profile, then he becomes a lot more viable in terms of that potential protection, allowing us flexibillity in how strongly we protect a squishy Lt
But you don't have to check, and announce, until the tactical phase, which means that at best you'll lose out on turn 3. (First LT gets shot turn 1, Kirpal killed turn 2, LoL turn 3) While not good, it's not as big a deal as losing the LT turn 1 or 2 when the order pool is pretty big. Depending on how everything else is going you might still have 3-4 command tokens to convert Irregular to Regular orders.
