Again what you are saying is true, but you can see a trend how much effert/points/strategy you suddenly need to put to simply have a chance of stopping 5 pts guys :P

In the video they said you can throw the hammer, so you have best of both worlds
TAK is going to be my second "army" (more like sectorial and add chauseurs when i fancy something different), so quite happy with this

My experience differs from yours quite significantly. This may be due to our respective metas or something else. I run Limited Insertion lists all the time (Haqqislam and Nomads) and find I perform fine in ITS. I like facing horde Ariadne lists, as they have only like 3-5 models that actually matter. When you kill those, your opponent can't win the mission. They also tend to have less reliable long range strength, so once you knock out their maybe 2 important long distance units you can dominate the major fire lanes.

I find it much easier to run lists with 10 orders than 15+, and think I have less brain drain due to it. That means I can think more clearer in the later missions after a long day of playing. Additionally, my games finish on time so I can get max points (and aren't frustrated).

NB: I have never faced the famous 27 Kum Bikers list, (55 orders, 1 is regular) so maybe my opinion will be changed after being trampled by the Horde

Beyond what @daboarder and @Jonno said, I'll also add a tidbit:

I stand behind my preference for smaller armies. As Jonno said, the smaller model counts definitely works in my mental benefit as well because I'm the type that prefers to try to do more with less. But I went into that spiel while thinking/wishlisting about other applications for auxbots. Lets ignore other weapon loadouts for now and go straight for the money: Why do only the artichokes get life-saving pokemon? I'm not saying PanO should get something as OP as that but an auxbot companion providing some form of additional defensive utility or survival trick could be thematic and further the capacity to run expensive elite armies.

And before dismissing this idea, the Tunguska puppetbots are using essentially the same game mechanic as the Tooha symbiont armour with a different name so never say never!

For most of the time I played Infinity I played vanilla Pano with 10 order lists, or 12, tops. Now I've added some other armies like NCA and Tohaa, playing 14-16 order lists, and it feels like a relief. I'll spend some time with more orders, and will try to apply the experience on low order counts.

Tohaa are bad shooters and paper thin. Most of their troops that see play are ARM1 or 2. Their HI (which is not the best idea, since Tohaa has near zero hacker support, and they have 3 troops that are hackable (and one of them is a character of their HI choice)) has ARM 3. Also they are shooting bad: their best shooting troop (Sukeul, blue icon) has BS13 and mimetism.

So these are the troops that gain extra wounds, which is really good, LI to HI upgrade is likely the most expensive thing in the game, but they are pseudo HI, first thing is the lousy ARM (though imo ARM is not that significant in the game), then the fact that most of the toys that Tohaa come with works only with active symbiont armor (like the Mimetism of Sukeul, Nanoscreen of Rasail, Holoprojector of Kotail, Bioimmunity of Kosuil (this is one of the more useless skills on a multiwound unit), Kinematika of Ectros (nobody cares)). Funny thing that after going inactive, the MIs become LIs. The problem with this, is that once the armor goes inactive, it won't ever come back, then you are stuck with Fusiliers with fancy weapons (like HMG and Viral/K1 combi).

My point is, Tohaa are basically Fusiliers and the odd Kamau with multiple wounds in Haris. That means there's a huge difference between a Sukeul in a Triad having a pokemon and a Jotum or a Swiss having a pokemon, giving them 1 order immunity (except for crits). Like "your Oniwaban tried to mono my Jotum? Too bad nothing happened and your fancy ninja is burnt to a crisp.".

I either misunderstand you or you are mixing up symbiont armor with pokemons. Pokemons are the Symbiomates of the Kaeltar, which gives a troop with symbiont armor one order long immunity of all hits that are not crits (need to decide before ARM rolls). What puppetbots have is Lo-tech, which is pretty much the same as symbiont armor, but it was already present on Ariadna's crappy HI.

I wouldn't necessarily argue against anyoen saying higher order armies give you an easier time. My personal preference is that I find it less mentally taxing to use a low order army and therefore I can make said army do more. Comparative to a higher order army which may have more redundancies built into it which is more forgiving but not my jam at all.

I think you are overall misunderstanding me. I'm aware there's a difference between the pokemon and the armour. My point was, just as the 'gameplay concept' behind the symbiont armour has been ported to the Puppets or as you say Ariadna HI (never encountered such a thing so unfamiliar), so too could the overall gameplay mechanic/concept of the symbiomates/pokemon come across to other factions.

And as I said, it does not need to be (nor should it be) anything as outrageous as a shrug all wounds for PanO as a Symbiomate does. What I'm suggesting is again, the general concept gets ported over in some form for PanO.

We can take a profile as is or pay an additional sum beyond the 4pts or whatever is currently costed for auxbots. In exchange, we get an auxbot that has more than a flamer. Like what?
    Maybe a 1off weapon? (panzerfaust)
Maybe a trick (drop smoke or e/m template on death)
Maybe a defensive boon (owner gets automedkit if it takes that final wound while in B2B with the Auxbot)

I don't know. These are just examples of what I'm implying. But the jist of what I'm saying is (1) a properly costed auxbot, which (2) offers more than what current auxbots do, (3) could be added to some under-loved profiles (bolts, Orcs, whatevs) and further PanO/sectorial design as being the expensive elite army of the hyperpower.

    edit:
Ok, I think I've over explaining and make it worse. What I'm saying is, imagine if Auxbots were more widely available AND they functioned (for example) like a tinbot.

I like that idea. A profile that comes with 2 auxbots of some type and can then distribute them to other models.

Perhaps the requirement is them being HI ?

Squires won't improve your MA, just carries your sword for you. So you could get a baggage bot, tops.

Yeah, im well aware of the function of squires in real life(which is also not limited to carrying swords) but seeing as naming convention has little to do with in game function (see seraph).

That doesnt mean there couldnt be a bot that improves your combat efficiency without just giving you burst 2.

Anyone who has not played a 30 Fusilier list should try it. Link 5 of them as a center point, then scatter them all over terrain in cover and just ARO everything to death. Will it win on objectives? No. Will it be hilarious. Yes. If you really want to make it stupid put them all on Suppression.

I also prefer a 10 order list, but sometimes a 30 order shooting gallery is a good way to just blow off some steam.

Right, what he really wants is Acon, for that wonderful AVA Total on Regulars. But it's still a good example of people coming in to the PanO forum without knowing that much about PanO!

"Of course their line troopers are AVA Total, who the hell doesn't get AVA Total on line troopers?

    Oh... Ohhhhh."

Thinking about the future for PanO, we've seen the latest sectorials bring a lot of new toys and effective combinations:
    • MULTI Marksman Rifle
    • SMG + X-Visor
    • Bike => g:synch
    • Fuerbach on Line Infantry
    • Two Hacking Devices on the same profile
    • AD unit with Drop Bears
    • CCW with the thrown/disposable trait.
    • T2 on weapons we haven't seen before

So we know that new ideas and concepts are being invented. I'm not holding my breath for something miraculous for PanO, but I do think there's a good chance we'll see some new tech. As I mentioned in the Varuna Speculation thread, the Skull Masks on the redesigned ORC dossier tells me that someone with a creative streak cares about Varuna.

I, personally, think we’ll see that creativity in Varuna. We’ve a decent start in what we *know* will be in there, and I think the rest will be in line with that.

I agree. I'll play a force with Crocmen, Kamau and PanO REMs. That's going to look awesome, and play fairly well on the table.

Considering that more units besides that are certainly coming, I'm not complaining.

I know there's disappointment about Kamau simply getting Mimetism...

But you know what? 4-4 BS13 Light Infantry with Mimetism is great.
