I think i'm missing the mark on the Akbar doctor hype. It seems to be something that people would really like to see more of in Ramah, but why? Unless you're expecting a bunch of two wounds troops to exist alongside Tarik and the Al Fasid (which i'm assuming is going to be in the sectorial) then an Akbar doctor doesn't offer anything that a doctor plus doesn't. If your list is mostly or entirely 1 wound models what does the akbar add that doctor plus doesn't?
I think a lot of us were expecting 2 wound super soldiers and an akbar to really solidify the “elite super-soldier sectorial” vibe. I know I would still like to see that, but it’s becoming less likely by the day ... unless CB has a whole lot of new things they aren’t sharing. There’s also a few fluff pieces that talk about the “Hakim” project and a non-HI akbar has been talked about for a long time. I think it would go a long ways towards making Haqqislam more viable in LI ITS events.
I'm not really happy about the lack of RTF infos too, but let's wait a bit more, i have some faith on CB.
I kind of get it. Ramah has a large built in customer base. The Xenos never sold as well by CBs own admission, so their making a substantial marketing push with their reboot/new launch. I don't think it's a marker of (lack of) quality or anything.
I think most akbar hype comes from the fact that Rama is the caliphate sectoral and is the bio-medical super power in the sphere, so why wouldn't it have the best doctor skill. Also an akbar thats not a 42 point HI would be a unit i would die for in vanilla. We do have plenty of solid HI options that could benefit from it.
Yeah spot on. I’d love one in vanilla too, but it seems really strong. That’s why I could see it exclusively RTF.
Honestly I dunno if I'd want to pay more for an Akbar Doctor profile on the Hakims. The Hakims are already WIP 18 Docs, which is awesome, and they're already great for cost. If they cost more but were Akbars I'd be less inclined to take them. Now, what I would like to see is an Akbar Doctor in Khawarij, mostly because it feels really suitable for fluff reasons. These guys are the best of the best after all! Anyway I'm hoping for 5-6 more RTF troop types myself. We already have Ghulams, Naffatun, Hakims, presumably Najjarun, Khawarij, Zhayedan, Al Fasid, Tuaregs and all of the standard REMs, which amounts to 13 unique profiles. Hassasins has 18, so 5-6 more would be sweet and could cover a lot of bases. My only other wish for RTF is that Zhayedan would all get MML2. If you'll give it to a Spetz HMG give it to a non-camo relatively expensive HI! Come on CB! Do it!
Yeah I guess it is. Although on these forums you'd have thought being 1-2pts more than is absolutely ideal would cost roughly as much as your firstborn child and immortal soul, the way some people go on about it... :P
The value will only really be there if we also get good 2 wound units besides Tarik and the Fasid. If we get akbar and no alterations to what has largely been 1-wound glass-cannons, that would basically be pointless. You be paying ~28 points to pick up Tarik. I'd still take it, obviously, but the choice would leave a sour taste in my mouth.
Given that RTF seems to have a new CQB HI coming, I think Akbar could prove very useful. Maybe the HI itself will have an Akbar option, to keep it from being too cheap.
Ah I'm an idiot. I've been looking at NA2 so much recently I just thought it was another MI merc. The green should have been a give-away. Fairly high tech helmet for Haqq. Looking forward to more details.
First I thought this is a Zhayedan with his visor up - but I checked it again with the dossier and there are several differences.
