Yes i know. My point was that if a player gets halfways through there main deployment and realises they dont like it, there is nothing in the rules that stops them going back a step and starting all over again. Outside of rolling for infiltrators. "Each player must deploy one HVT model at the beginning of his Deployment http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Initiative_and_Deployment
Pretty sure you can wait to the last figure for Parachutist, but only if you have 1 and that is your reserve model, it is afterall assigning deployment to a figure.
Yes. But my memory was that if the Parachutist wasn't the reserve you needed to choose during the Deployment step not during the Last Figure step. But it's possible I'm extrapolating from the Symbiomates FAQ / link-forming timing. Which implicitly clarified that 'all decisions about a trooper get decided during the *step* in which it's deployed'.
yes that makes sense, because its again, assigning the deployment of a figure. Its only #Tohaa players that think "During deployment" means anytime during the phase
It is a point of rules and spirit of play as rules are I would not redeploy an HVT once I am half way through my deployment in a friendly game environment anything can change, players play for fun there right?
Shrug, Personally im not keen to punish players for changing their minds if theres no practical benefit or clearly defined pointor means by which a model is considered "deployed" I dont need to be that guy to enjoy myself or win.
Since it’s on the subject - when exactly are AI beacons deployed - meaning do you roll for dispersion the moment they are put down or after deployment is completely done (preferably with a rules reference)?
As I said before rules are rules and are made specific to facilitate a frame were players can play, how strict players will follow the rules is their choice. @bladerunner_35 it should be rolled when the AI beacon is deployed for rules reference the AI beacon is deployed with AD combat jump and must follow the rules of AD combat jump, the roll happens immediately when the model is deployed.
To be perfectly frank, half the games I've played, one or both of us has forgotten to place an HVT entirely, and so it ends up being quickly thrown on the table once someone reminded the other. In the long run it has had very little (if any) discernible impact on the game flow or outcome. As far as the Parachutist goes, it was definitely (and officially) clarified that it had to be selected during the Deployment phase unless that was your Reserve model. I can't recall when or how far back this was, but I've played a lot of AD1 and it definitely worked that way. As far as deployment in general goes, I've seen most people handle HVT and Deployment all lumped together, with a "OK I'm all set, here's what you can see" at the end of Deployment. Rolls should be performed here for Booty/Meta, and should already be complete for Infiltration/AI Beacon type things. Then Deployment passes to the other player, and your positioning is locked. (Then, of course, you pass back for Reserve model phase.)
