I've tested Zhayedans a bit. I wrote about it in the old forum, there was an interesting topic about them. It was some time ago and then Zhayedan sniper was an interesting option to give Lasiq a bit rest ;) He is quite expensive in points, but it's not a big problem, as he has good weapon, especially with Marksmanship. And only 0,5 SWC is great. Still the normal sniper gun has Shock built in it, so we pay a bit for something he already has. That's why I had a vision of Zhayedan with AP Sniper, combining AP with Shock and looking like... I've had some good games with him, but then Knauf came into Haqq - and to be honest, I gladly pay 1SWC and +1 pt for better BS, Mimetism, MSV et cetera. ... And the Breaker Rifle guy - KilleR HunteR - is a quite different thing. Very expensive for his survivalibity, yet very deadly with the mix of breaker and shock. Has a great potential, can destroy enemy links and tough targets. And can die poorly. I usally had really bad luck with him, having 0 hits with 3 dices hitting on 15. Yet in his best game he almost alone destroyed Neoterran army. Kasym smoked the way, Zhay went closer and shot dead Fusilier ML from link, then another linked guy. And after that I decided to make an interesting charge and went against Squalos, getting him without cover. And hitting with all 3 shots, destroying the TAG :) Halving BTS can be brutal. So... I like Zhayedan, but he can be really moody ;) And I think that the rest of profiles will have sense only in sectorial. Really interested in how they will be linked. PozdRawiam / Greetings
You're breakdown of the Zhayedan made me spend time to give him a chance, but I never had much success. I love that you have though! Maybe I'll dust him off again. (Definitely when Ramah comes out). I mentioned it in another thread, but speaking of TAGs, I killed a Dragao with Zuleyka last weekend and I'm still getting a kick out of it. She hosed the TAG, getting a mechanist and Joan in the process (who was her real target). Killed the mechanist, wounded Joan, killed a palbot, (terrible positioning from opponent), and proceeded to burn the Dragao to a crisp... Zamira had done only one wound to the TAG in the order prior. Did I mention? Zuleyka did all this WITH ONE ORDER!! Sorry for going a bit off topic. Like I said - I'm still chuckling about the whole thing.
So, question. Did you go for the melee with Zamira? 'cause that EM CCW would have made a nice statue off of that TAG.
I've used the Zhayedan a few times and the breaker rifle version is actually surprisingly scary. As in, one of Haqq's best short to mid range shooters scary. BS 15 against most targets is not to be sniffed at, and whatever you hit is very likely to go down. I wish that all their profiles had MML2, I don't see the real problem with that tbh, just makes the Sniper and Breaker Rifle+LSg loadouts much scarier, but oh well. At some point I do want to try the sniper though. I feel like that level of accuracy and range will be serious business on a mobile trooper would isn't for ARO, but instead wants to hunt on the active turn.
I already tried this a few times, but right now its a little hard come up with a list that I would feel confident with, due to the lack of certain elements in the Sectorial. We only have one source of Smoke, thats on a very good but also very expensive platform. So if I want smoke, I most certainly cant afford the HRL profile, which is to date the only reliably good ARO option. We also only have one Camo Infil that is also quite expensive, even more so, if you want it to be a specialist. The Zhayedan are obviously the core Link, where the Sniper is clearing the path to get into the opponents half and then let the Rifle guy do his thing. Another option would be to run only a core of three with Rifle, Sniper, Doc and use the points to get a HMG Fasid in for smoke and do the clearing job. Glaring weaknesses are no other Specialists then Docs, but in Season 9, most of the time this not that much of an issue and I most certainly wont use the Tuareg as Hacker. The next thing is, this list lacks stuff against heavy targets. The only things are SMGs and the Breaker Rifle. No Hacker, no multidamage weapons. The AHD Tuareg could help with this, but if I reveal it in ARO to stop something, it almost certainly is beeing fried by a KHD. This might cost a few orders, but after that, your 35 point Camo Infil is history...not good. Ghulam ML would be an option, but but are mostly only effective linked, which would almost force me to play a Ghulam Core, but I would like to play RTF with the cool stuff. Zhayedan ML doesnt offer a lot over the Ghulam and I wanto to be my Zhayedans an assault force. So there is some potnetial for additonal profiles in RTF. I hope they get filled or I am forced to play vastly different from what I want to.
