So I realize I have enough models to run a Varuna list and I was wondering how this non-tag list looks for playing Varuna:

Make sure to uncheck the "Plain text" box before copying the list generated by the army builder.

Well looks like the Army List formating is off; I copied it straight from the export model with the checkbox unselected.

    Group 1: (10)

    Kamau Combi, 0, 20
    Fusilier (FO) Combi, 0, 12
    Fusilier (FO) Combi, 0, 12
    Fusilier (FO) Combi, 0, 12
    Fusilier (Paramed) Combi, 0, 12
ORC Hacker, Varuna Div(Ass Hack) Combi, 0.5, 43
ORC, Varuna Div Multi, 0, 41
    Bulleteer Spitfire, 1, 23
    Bulleteer Hvy Shot, 0, 17

    Group 2: (13)
    Kamau (MSV2) MSR, 1.5, 32

    A couple things:

    1. If you're going to bring Bulleteers, you'd better have a KHD or at least a Fusilier hacker to buff them up with Marksmanship.

    2. You should definitely move the Kamau into the first group. At least put the sniper in the Fusilier link.

    That's... interesting...
You've got one primary attack piece in group 1 (the Spitfire Bulleteer) but no way to give it supportware or to repair it if it goes down. All the rest of your SWC is in group 2, and none of it is therefore linked (unless you're going for a 3-man core for some reason).

VIRD has some very obvious "toolbox picks":

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]5
KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32)
ORC (Varuna Div.) (Multiterrain: Aquatic/Jungle, Stealth) Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 43)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)

this is a brutal defensive fireteam that you can transition to active turn murder.

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division

    KAMAU HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28)
PATSY GARNETT Submachine Gun, Nimbus Plus Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37)
MACHINIST (Varuna Div.) (CH: Mimetism, Stealth, Aquatic Terrain) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 17)

this is a specialist-heavy haris that can shoot it's way forward, engage links and achieve a host of objectives.

Here is a defensive sensor/repeater net with added Jam for sweet sugary (triangulated fire) goodness.

I'd be inclined to think about what you want to achieve, what you're likely to face then select/substitute what you want from the basic tools available to PanO/VIRD. Then add/sub in support (FO, Paramedic, doctors etc.) and flavour pieces (you want to use the Montessa paramedic? a Zulu Cobra? a field of neurocinetic decoys armed with LRL?) to make a list.

    Hmmm.

So the challenge with both Kamau and ORCs with just plain Combi Rifles is that Fusiliers do almost the same job, for a lot cheaper. Yes, ORCs and Kamau have superior stats, superior durability, etc. compared to Fusiliers... Which makes them really perfect platforms for buying heavy weapons. Heavy weapons let them maximize those superior stats, having the most impact on the battlefield.

A Kamau Combi is still a good purchase, but you might as well upgrade it to a Specialist for some added utility, then add it to a Kamau Haris or Patsy Garnett Haris where it can play aggressively and operate independently from your big clunky Core link.

    Does that make sense?

You can refund a lot of poitns if you put the Kamau heavy weapons into Group 1, then drop the ORC and Kamau combi wielders. Those refunded points will let you build out your second group a bit, maybe with a nice Haris team.

Thanks for all the input I have just played around with the army list maker and this seemed good points wise my logic is I was the mid-range group (group1) advance for objective and manhunt opposing specialist while group 2 provide cover fire and support with heavy long range weapons and AROs. But everyone bring up valid points.

One question I have is varina fireteams seem to focus on the Kamau units. A special note that they have in the list builder is that I can only take up to 3 fusiliers and 2 ORCs into the fire team. Am I interpreting that right?

Kamau are Wildcard units. This allows them to join any Fireteam in Varuna, replacing the units that ordinarily compose that Fireteam.

So if you have a Core Team of Fusiliers, Kamau can join. If you have a mixed Core Team of 3 Fusiliers and 1 ORC, you can also add a Kamau... Giving 5-man link bonuses to the team without having to buy another ORC. .

This is one reason why Kamau are so popular in Varuna... Not only are they a great unit, but they work very well alongside any Fireteam you use.

So I have been tinkering some more on the Army List builder and i believe having a KHD hacker is the preferred profile to run with remotes over normal hackers. However the only KHD profile is a Zulu-Cobra. Would you say running one with the bulleteers is a better option than a fusilier hacker? Or is it too expensive points wise?

It isn't, if you will take an attack REM like the Bulleteer. With the normal Hacker you can give him MARKSMANSHIP level 2 what is really nasty due to shock and ignoring cover.
You will always have a Fusilier and therefore you have only to pay +6 Points and 0.5 SWC

I would argue that the EVO hacker will give you more utility than the fusilier hacker in Varuna.
Alternatively theres the Kamau hacker – which could be interesting

Thanks everyone it has given me a lot to consider. I am new so I am unsure of all the rules to building a decent list. I am looking for a 150pt demo game in my area and I have posted for two potential lists I plan to take in another thread.

Maybe a dumb question but is there a reason you have 5 points left over and no Tech-bee?

certainly not a dumb question. Tech Bees are not a unit I have read up on much so I am unsure where they fit into a team.

At the very least, they're a 5 point Flash Pulse that stands around and defends your DZ.

You can also spend a Command Token to make her Irregular Order into a Regular Order, which can be a nice boost to your other troops.

I've been using her a lot this season as a backup Specialist, and also an Escort for the Xenotech. Having to spend Regular Orders to move the Xenotech around and attempt WIP rolls is painful, so spending a mere 5 points to have the Tech Bee serve as escort is quite nice. She's a really nice sweeper Specialist too, if your more expensive troopers are busy or get wiped out.

Similar principles apply to the WarCor as well, if you were to only have 3 points left over.
