    Hello,

I just want to begin by explaining my intent, this is an open letter with positive intent.

I write this not because I feel the forum has negative or unhelpful community. On the contrary, the community is very helpful and willing. However, my only appeal is that, if possible, could people maybe be willing to listen to new ideas? Explore concepts for different profiles? Spit-ball ideas with OP, or whoever down a train of thought even if it may not be optimal in your eyes?

What I am referring to specifically, is when people ask for help, or advice, or opinion and ideas on certain profiles which may not be considering optimal or are even sometimes considered subpar too often they are met with "why not run 8 Kuang Shi?" instead, or "But is it as good as 8 Kuang shi?"

For some people, going with what's popular is not as appealing as something that is your brainchild, so please try keep an open mind next time someone wants to talk about a Ninja Sniper or a Pheasent Rank.

with upmost respect to community, thank you for reading.

I think you'll find this forum is pretty open to working with or building lists around sub par units.

What it isn't, or at least I'm not open to, is claiming that somehow these units are good when they're bloody awful.

Enjoy the shitty unit, build a list to best optimise the shitty unit, play with the shitty unit. Just don't claim the shitty unit is legitimately good when it's not because that doesn't do anybody any favours.

If you want to change an opinion on "X unit is trash because hacking vulnerabilities" or whatever reason there is, you need to come to the table with an argument for how it can get around that.

I do not at all find it unreasonable that if someone wants to claim that this is an appropriately costed unit:

The thing is, the game isn't new, and most of the profiles and units you see in army have been there for a long time, so it's quite likely there is no such thing as "new idea" or "concepts for different profiles" that hasn't been discussed and tested before.

Of course, new releases (IA) and updated profiles (pheasant sniper) are a different matter, but you can be pretty damn sure something like the ninja sniper has been analyzed over and over, and that most opinions about this profile are well informed.

Usually (not always sadly) when you clearly state what you want in your thread, be it building a list around a specific unit, sticking to Limited Insertion or whatever you fancy, people here are much happy to oblige.
So if you don't want to play kuang-shis, just say it, otherwise some would think you might be unintentionally shooting yourself in the foot and might try to have you change your mind.

Side note, but since you didn't do a follow-up on your previous thread, how did it go at Cancon satellite (IIRC) with your LI ISS lists?

Do you think they would have been better with more kuang-shis?

I've found my forum experience vastly improved by setting consistently negative users to Ignore. I'm sorry to say that these users will not change their behavior, so it's best to just filter them out completely.

Its value is in a surprise piece and that it's commonly overlooked. You can create engagements people aren't ready for and pretty easily stack -9 between Mimetism, Rangebands (because of the long range), and Cover. The Spitfire while popular to do its best work needs to move in closer and fight in suppressive fire rangebands which can be dangerous.

For example try to remove a Foxtrot sitting in cover in SF. The sniper has 10% better odds of bringing it down, forces the target to abandon SF mode, and is also 8% less likely to take a wound in return.

You can also set up dangerous ARO lanes people aren't expecting or are ready to deal with.

If you're leaning on the Tiger to be your main attack piece the Spitfire is usually the better all rounder. The MSR does have value in utility and defensive properties.

Pretty much this. Productive discussions about the pros and cons of a unit can be really enlightening.
Others get a bit stuck on the cons.

I have used it mainly to AD2 next to the enemies Deployment Zone and then snipe anyone on the back/through the deployment zone.

Of course, it greatly depends on terrain placement, but usually there are ways to snipe across the enemie's deployment zone.

I don't care if you want to play a fluffy list.

Just don't post a list you are playing for fluff, ask how it can be improved, and then shoot down everyone who offers advice that optimizes the list. This seems to be the case far too often.

For me it's about having fun more than winning. I've noticed those that care more about winning tend to be more negative. I was negative for a time too though after Uprising but i got better ;) But like the list below is a list I have fun with. It's not a "winning" list, but it's a FUN list.

In that cases Tiger soldier with spitfire could be as effective as sniper for less price... Or more effective for less price .. Or very very more effective for less price .. And so on .

If you're attacking from behind the Spitfire and MSR are basically identical. Their odds differ in 2-4% value. The MSR however does have a much deeper threat range. I like to use them in pairs if I have the MSR. Somebody makes a hole for the Tigers to get into the DZ. Boarding shotgun goes first clears the close targets. MSR comes in second and starts shooting the far targets down the backline just trying to nuke the opponent's cheerleaders.

    paging @Daemon of Razgriz !

Actually, Tiger and Ninja snipers work similarly. Ninjas you try to infiltrate deep, while Tigers can walk on close to enemy DZ. Then shoot towards your table edge, shooting the enemy in the back! The Ninja has CC skills to stop the usual way of dealing with a sniper, and if you do flub the infiltration roll, you still get to deploy in good sniper ranges.
