I don't think he was trying to troll you. I understand you are upset but please don't take it out on others. I think in his own way Child was trying to make you feel a bit better. And I'm sorry if my own post seemed to downer. I still have Uprising PTSD
I was not trolling you, sorry you felt it like that. It's true though that I joked a bit about you saying that you will wait for the full thing, because you keep posting super angry messages. But as others noticed, my post was mostly to say again to relax and hope for the best, as some good may also come out of this. CB are not actively trying to piss off people. They are making bold choices that may not please everyone, that's for sure, but if they indeed plan to remove many profiles from Aleph, I would believe they will offer something in exchange. And before someone jumps on me, I wouldn't compare that to Uprising, because this was to create a faction on its own (which I think, a few years after, we can now all agree was a good thing for the game). Mine? If yes, sorry, I don't get it...
whoa. I rarely post. and I mean rarely.. but this just plain wrong. the hubris. uprising was controversial to say the least. ;et's call a spade a spade. it was a gut punch. yu jing players got shafted. the dice was rolled CB does what it does and made the decision to rip JSA out. but let's not be coy and dismiss it as anything less. it wasn't just some natural oh but they were "already" difference player bases. it's a dissmal and disservice to long time players.
I think overtime it has been shown clearly that Uprising could have been handled better. It probably would have not as been as divisive if CB had released Invincible Army at the same time as JSA leaving. They could have even had a new Operation Box of JSA versus Imperial Army to introduce both new sectorials. The way it was handled left a huge hole in both Yujing rosters and player's trust that has taken years to heal. I am hopeful that CB has learned its lesson and give Aleph some new units to compensate.
Was it IA? Jeez I can't remember. I thought it was White Banner but I think you are right. The first video they put out with IA was 5 years ago, Uprising was 6 years ago and White Banner was 4 years ago.
Because memory can be selective, the gap between Uprising and Invincibles Army announcement was six months committed to the army was seven months, eight months for the fluff book and having miniatures and in hand was ten months. A remarkably fast release considering not only JSA sculpts were been released but also Operation Coldfront was released in the same timeframe. Could it have been handled better? maybe, though I doubt a two player starter between JSA and IA would have been received even remotely well setting aside Coldfront was released two months after. While I do understand the frustration some of the community had back then and that a select few still carry that today, I remain firm in my opinion that Yu Jing are better from the separation, for the reasons I listed, JSA is a really popular army more so that Yu Jing, their intended gameplay is far apart and the player base did not really mix.
Let's hope they learned from this and have some sort of replacement soon. YJ got nothing when Ko Dali was lost. And then took half a year to get out IA after Uprising. If you burn a bridge you need to build a new one.
I really don't get all the fuss for ONE miniature, even today after what, 15 years? Damn... Even Germany was forgiven faster than that after WW2...
Ko Dali was going to be removed anyway as it was the most broken thing in first edition, other than the Avatar Spekulo combo, and that combo was found and widely used only at the end of second edition.
Broken? Yes of course, Yu Jing can't have nice things? Seriously though other factions had worse. It's two. Pandora as well. Also not just two if you've been playing for a long time. Aleph lost a few with N4. I think they gained some too. Excpet for Thyreos. No one wants to acknowledge it exists. But yeah it's not horrible. I just think it's the fact that CB keeps doing stuff like this. I mean who's next? Bakunin splits from Nomads? Joan converts to Islam and goes to Haqqislam? Germany at least stopped playing with dictators and ovens.
No, not really, a first edition HMG and two light flame throwers deployed in the enemy deployment zone was devastating, it was top tier.
On a separate post, I think we are veering too much on the political side with the last few comments.
Well I guess that's true but the consequences for them is loosing players and those players saying don't play infinity. You will waste time and money. They will GW you. I admit I told people not to get into 40k because they will be burned. Guess what? They got burned. Now playing better cheaper games.
Even back then you could not have her as a Lt. And combat jump. Lt. had to be on the table. Everyone used the regular version to actually jump.
No, you have to go back and read the first edition rules the moment tactical jump LT enters the table loss of LT was cancelled.
Ok but that doesn't mean she became lesser by going to CA. In fact possibly better. She went to a force, like Achilles now, how had absolutely NO need for her. They are actually adding clutter to CA. Not cleaning it up. This feels like a money grab. That's not good marketing. It's best to to a money grab without people noticing it is.
