It is really nice to see a weird, less-used thing actually survive the transition into N4. I wish stuff like Sat-Lock, Stun grenades, EVO programs like Kaleidoscope or U-Turn, and the Icebreaker program had made it too.

Most of these tools are great once you figure out how to use them, it's just that lazy players and newbs usually didn't take that time, so most of them got the axe.

Pheroware is the Tohaa "easy button." Phero-booster on the other hand is a lot more interesting and less obvious.

Phero-booster didn't survive the transition; it was horribly scarred and disfigured by the process.

It used to be a Technical Weapon that inflicted Targeted to the opponent even if they succeeded on their BTS roll. It also counted as a successful Forward Observer attack. It benefited from Fireteam Bonuses, and had a handy Stun Mode for ARO duty.

Now it's a Technical Weapon, but it's actually a Comms Attack (but it still requires LoF?), that happens to put them into targeted if they survive taking 1+ wounds, and no longer counts as an FO attack for classifieds. They GUTTED its utility. It also no longer gets Fireteam Bonuses, and the Stun Mode was removed from it (alongside all the MULTI weapons). Oh and robots are now immune. For some reason.

By classifying it as a Comms Attack, the way in which it operates now makes zero sense. It's a BS weapon that you fire with your WIP. Range modifications apply, but Cover doesn't. Instead, having a Firewall now (somehow) protects you from pheromone particles being fired at relativistic speeds. Oh, and you can't Dodge it; you have to Reset. Like, wtf.

It's a weapon that fires concentrated pheromone particles like a railgun. The pheromones then stick to the target, allowing other Tohaa to more easily detect them. Why is a servant bot immune, but a Gamma not? The weapon makes no sense (Why does it require LoF, but ignore Cover? Why does Reset let you magically ignore a railgun? Why does a Firewall protect you from it?!?!), and is a shambling corpse of what it was in N3.

They took a cool, niche weapon from N3 and absolutely murdered it. Now it's an overpriced clusterfuck. Good luck trying to explain all this shit to a new player. And good luck convincing a veteran player that this abomination + an SMG is worth FIVE MORE POINTS than a Breaker Rifle + Smoke Launcher.

TL;DR: Look how they murdered my boy.

I'm currently unironically putting pherobooster kriigels in lists, but that's a separate discussion.
