    Hello all.

I was wondering if any of you have used or like using Patroclus in vanilla?

I know he’s pretty expensive with only moderately good stats. But I was thinking about it last night. I realized what makes him good is, he’s literally a jack of all trades. He does everything! He’s a button pusher. He’s a cc beast. He’s got a big gun. He’s got a marker state. He has Smoke! I feel like while there are other things in the army that do one of those things better than he does, I don’t really see any other option that does all of it in one package.

let me know if you like him or have had success. Or if you hate him let me know why.

I played Patroclus a decent amount in Vanilla Aleph about a year ago. I primarily played the HMG profile because I felt that a BS13 model needed all the burst he could get in vanilla. I really agree that he's a jack of all trades type of profile who's fast, a specialist, brings smoke, has echos, is a CC monster, and a decent gun fighter. In button pushing missions, he performed excellently (especially in unmasking and supplies). However, in killing missions and zone control missions, he didn't do that great. He's a big chunk of points and is able to kill chaff just fine, but isn't consistently able to kill dedicated ARO pieces. A big advantage I had playing him in larger (online) tournaments was that he was off meta for everyone. I was able to cybermask him as a shurkra or atalanta in most games and no one considered it patroclus. That may be different now. Overall, If he was cheaper, or had mimetism, I think he would be excellent. As is, hes probably too expensive, but still really useful in a handful of missions and pretty fun to play in almost all missions.

I really like this explanation. Sounds about like what I would expect. I’m sad they took away his ability to have mim and holo. I saw a few people play him then. But then he was more squishy too. Now he’s been buffed in a lot of ways but still lacks in others.

But yeah, he seems really fun and like a strong toolkit for objective missions that also require some killyness. Lol

I tested him in 3-4 games and the results are mixed.
Its not so easy to play arround the holomask/-projector, but it brings some variety in your lists

    pro
    - if your oponent dont know anything about aleph tricks, its a good suprise attack pice, with a decent range weapon und cc skills
    - currently not a meta pick
    - smoke
    - specialist + nco
    - 6-4 mov

    contra
    - HI witch only 3 ARM
    - only WIP 13
    - too expensive compared to other units
    - sometimes difficult to reenter holoecho
    - order expensive to get out his full potential
    - without -3 suprise attack he has some probs to kill ranged aro pieces

Maybe he need a price discound or a mimetism buff or some different weapon loadouts(spitfire)

Not anymore unfortunately. But in N3 Patroclus use to have holo projector lvl 3. Which allowed him to keep his mimetism and he could also have echos out while linked so he could make himself look like Achilles linked with him and all 4 models/markers had mimetism. So it did exist for a bit.
