NCA's Hacking game has actually suffered a fair bit since the Deva AHD doesn't exist anymore, but if we get the Garuda back the new FO profile will go a long way to addressing the Sectorial's dreadful scoring ability. The Swiss remains awesome, the existence of an Aquila FTO indicates that sadly the HMG will remain unable to join Fireteams but that this new MULTI Marksman will, and it's a powerful backup gunner. CSUs are worse as guards than they used to be due to the Sixth Sense change, but will be stronger on the offensive with B2 Nanopulsers. nuBolts are obviously spectacular, cheaper ORCs will allow the Haris or even Core to come off the shelf once in a while. The Uhlan is the biggest question mark, as the only thing we don't actually have a profile for. If it gets cheaper but stays at its N3 power level it could be great, if it gets a LT profile it will become spectacular. I expect that its actual play style won't change too much from N3, the biggest change being that true order spam isn't really possible any more. Barring CB getting very liberal with Wildcards we'll mostly see familiar archetypes like Bolt Core midfield and top-heavy Fusilier Core w/TAG or Swiss, or even triple Guard. Newer possibilities mostly involve ORC teams. EVO Rem-spam is dead, though.
Just wanted to post again to mention that since Firewall reduces the damage of an incoming Hacking Attack by 3, just like Cover for BS Attacks, a KoJ Hacker under Tinbot or Fairy Dust is now absurdly safe from KHDs- they only take damage from Trinity on a 1 or 2! That's good enough that a few Peacemakers in midfield should allow you to stonewall anything Hackable short of Mary Problems, unless your opponent brought a a really good Hacker with Oblivion, because you'll be getting several uncontested Hacks of your own out or the enemy will have to waste Order after Order trying to stick you with Trinity on embarrassingly bad odds.
I don't know anymore, looked it up to double check and you may be right. they are equipment first and foremost, but the effects text does say "► Used remotely, a GizmoKit is considered a Non-Lethal BS Weapon" so maybe. regardless, not sure why you would want to shoot two medikits at something. unless you suck at shooting. one pass and one fail puts you back where you started.
Edit: wrong one oops, still stands ► If, due a Special Skill or rule, a Trooper receives more than one successful hit or use of GizmoKit during the same Order, if any of the corresponding PH Rolls is successful, the Trooper recovers a single point of their Structure Attribute. Even if the Trooper passes every PH Roll, they will only recover a single point of their STR Attribute.
Because that's no longer how it works in N4, if either or both of the rolls pass you regain a wound, you only suffer one of both rolls fail.
Rules say any one success is a pass for the turn, you can't stack multiple results. You can get Fireteam bonuses for higher Burst or coordinate multiple 'Kits to get more chances to succeed. If at least one hits and the target passes at least one PH roll they get back a Wound, if at least one hits and all rolls are failed the target loses a Wound, if none hit nothing happens.
i was looking at a techbee profile and was wondering why you would take it over an engineer then i saw its point cost.
Why is EVO rem spam dead? EVO costs only 15 points. I can still see a lot of value in taking peacemakers, Bulleteers, Fugazi, and other rems. Am I missing something?
Specially since in PanO you only get two "engi" (and not the best of them): Tech-Bee and Machinist, which is a bummer since we gonna put a lot more TAG and such on tables by now. We have a lot of doctors now, but I would love to see a new engineer, maybe a named one, released soon to fill the gap.
I wonder what the Machinist in the Neoterra re-release will get? 'cause with bioinmunity gone from the bolts he probably shouldn't have that any more, right? So its either mimetism, like the other 3 or maybe marksmanship? like the bolts?
There's still value in them, but NCA used to be fantastic at using the old EVO toolkit; high-AVA Fugazis and quality Peacemakers for Overclock, Garuda could use the Combat Jump buff, buffed Sat-Lock was almost an afterthought but worked well with the Squalo, re-rollable Hacking was extremely strong in combination with Lightning Deva AHD and the EVO's own Brain Blast. More REM-heavy NCA lists in N4 will be a little weaker for the EVO changes, especially in comparison with a more typical Fireteam-heavy composition and in a context where assault-style Hacking is more dominant.
Fugazi spam is dead you can no longer buff them all B2 for some reason CB decided to nerf the reactive turn gameplay so you can enjoy a good ol' fashioned 1st turn blitzkrieg 2x HMG REM with dedicated engineer is the new thing now that they go prone when unconscious and get back up for free when being repaired fugazi are still okay but not for ARO
