Yup, they don't have "more" joints as such, just certain bones are longer/shorter than ours (digitigrade legs). Longer thigh and 'Foot' bones and shorter libia/fibula and they walk on the balls of their feet (the 'padded' area between toes and foot arch).

"Saru" (Doug Jones' character in ST:D) has special boots so he can walk like that in-character.
The Lycans in the first underworld movie used special spring stilts to give them the same effect (practical suits - they went to cg for the later ones).

I welcome a shift to premarked bases. A lot of players can't be bothered to paint them on or get it wrong. And then there are players who notoriously don't paint their minis so they also won't paint position marks on them. People who want to have special bases can still do that, so there shouldn't be a problem to anyone.

Dont think this has been posted up here yet.

Some friends sent me what looks like some partial dossier art from Wildfire.

    image.jpg

Seeing the O-12 uniform close up, I like it quite a bit. It was more armored than I first thought. The lower plating is just worn very close to the body. And from the look of the Delta I'm like how they add more to the base uniform.

Those new shasvastii look intimidating. Like the changes they've made to them. They make me think of scarier looking Turians from Mass Effect.

Hope we'll see some more of these dossiers soon.

Or they look like most dossiers do, with faces not being entirely done? ;)

O-12 colors remind me of Nova Corps from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Easy enough having a tournament rule that models with unmarked bases may be removed at any time by the opponent.

This is a game about throwing dice, not about painting. Not all want/can paint

You can at the very least mark your bases. It's a requirement for tournament play.

But this is not the way to enforce it:

Games about painting are called "painting competitions". At least your entire competition won't go tits up from a random crit though.

...And most tournaments do have some kind of painting quality bonus or separate prize so yeah.

Isn't this currently a requirement in ITS? Marked arcs of fire?

I'm wondering what the middle two did wrong.
the composition of the picture suggests the outer figures are just waiting for an excuse to remove the inner two.
One with an offhand 'backhand stab' and the other by double-tapping them in the head.

Yes, it's a requirement in the ITS documents, although enforcement is left to the discretion of the organizer/judges at the event.

I'm going to be perfectly honest - I routinely play with models with unmarked bases, including at some of the tournaments I've been to. It's never come up as an issue that's affected the game, however.

This is a game about moving fantastic metal miniatures on a beautiful gaming table, only occasionally throwing dice. You've bought into the wrong game, you're looking for the boardgame section.
