Not sure how it's a retcon. it didn't replace the AEF with Kosmo and say it was them all along. The AEF were exactly that. An expeditionary force sent to fight on Paradiso.

Kosmoflot is the development of Ariadna's Space Naval forces. More or less entirely under control of Mat and the Stavka. They include many units from the AEF because they were the ones that had experience in deployment and transportation in space and to other planets. Though my understanfing is though they didn't send many initial forces. Mat was still in overall command of the AEF Strategically and Logistically

I'm hoping that it's easy enough to cut off the axehead and move it to the bottom while sculpting a cover.

They were also the first Ariadnan forces operating off planet, and an organization intended to be used as such.
    So R E T C O N.

If Mat had any involvement with AEF? It's a retcon. The whole point of it was that Mat wanted no involvement and USARF couldn't get involved because of Antipodes being jerks. So FRRM and CHA went instead.

At least he is not driving a motorcycle with an axe resting on his shoulder. That's an accident waiting to happen.

I don't mind the zenit but my feelings after seeing all the models are that I only need Jazz + Billie, The Sombra and the Evader. Even then, I could proxy with a Spekter or Mobile brigada , so I don't need anything really.

Zenit 7 has been and will continue to be the female tankhunter from the tak box, and S.A.S. are downgraded uxia, scout BS, and spec ops girl if she isn't busy being a varangian.

    Ariadna minis proxy so well.

For what it's worth regarding game design and playability, I love Kosmoflot. They have become my go to ariadna faction and I personally feel they are the strongest. Vanilla is quite good too, it comes down to preference.

They still exist, and are still fighting on Paradiso, doing their intended job. But they are a ground army, if they want to go somewhere, O-12 has to figure out how to get them there. [As Kosmoflot isn't big enough to move them on their own yet.] As of this point TAK has a pretty heavy presence in the AEF, since they rotated out most of the MRRF and Caledonian troops, and that was back when they first came as an playable sectoral, well before Kosmoflot made an appearance.

I've been trying to find more info on the founding of the AEF, but I have a feeling that is mostly covered in N2 and the Paradiso books which were before I came into Infinity.

I expected to find more in the RPG books I had but only found this

    "ARIADNAN EXPEDITIONARY CORPS
Paradiso had once again become the Meat Grinder. O-12, having formed the Paradiso Coordinated Command, was vitally aware that they needed more boots on the ground. They agreed to assist the Ariadnan government with territorial reclamation on the frontiers of Dawn in exchange for troops. The result was the Ariadnan Exploration Corps, which thrust the backwater Ariadnan youth— still adjusting to the culture shock of recontact—directly into the middle of modern warfare. Their first action was in relief of Yu Jing’s Green Banner Army at the Siege of Bái Hai. From the mouth of the Longxi River, they engaged in a series of vicious battles with Morat forces and successfully forced them to withdraw"

Considering Mat is the official government of Ariadna. I don't think they had so little involvement with an issue that was so critical to their territorial claims across the entire planet. In fact it probably greatly benefited them to send Scots and French forces there over their own. Securing the O-12 support they wanted and greatly diminishing two of the more problematic nations militaries to stir up any unrest, and by the time they did eventually deploy their own troops in support of it. They had gained valuable intel and experience on what to expect from and how to combat the CA forces without having to commit their own troops to that meatgrinder. [though the that might not have got fully to plan with the third offensive that followed on Paradiso.]

Point being they are still two entirely different entities, One which is ostensibly the seed of Ariadna's official Human Sphere recognized army, and the other it's burgeoning Space Fleet and Marine Core.

I quote from campaign Paradiso "The first contingent of the Expeditionary Corps was formed only by volunteer troops, recruited from all across the regiments and units forming the Ariadnan armed forces and their respective territorial armies. These volunteer troops were mostly from Merovingian and Cossack units"

Who was the leader of the AEC "fydor vasilievich goremykin". That sounds awfully Russian to me, but maybe he's a frog?

Considering Sombras usually operate between the shadows of asteroids or zero-G area, to me her pose seems rather dynamic than unreal.
It might not make sense when it comes to fighting on the planet surface where gravity works, but I think we don't need to limit the range of theatres where Code Infinity is taking place.

Personally, I like the composition of the box: for new players, it's a solid start in both sectorials/C1 (but I think lately all C1 "operations" are solid for C1 anyway), and for those of us with Corregidor models it's an optional, and not imposed, box. I will wait for a non-box sombra and EVAder, even if my Alguaciles are from the old N2 starter (that came with a Securitate XD), and the Dire Foes I don't need either since I will have Defiance (just, it seems, possibly long after Op Kosmorregidor goes to stores XD).

As for the sculpts, the Rokots look to me like soviet troops you could see onboard a ship, the paracommando could be either USA/URSS, the SAS is a SAS only because of the jumper and ski mask design, and the Zenit could be Balalaika (ref: Black Lagoon) during her Afghan war times. The volkolak, well... I don't really see a lot of originality aside from the head.
The alguaciles... the head are the real novelty, and having the O12 kappas and having seen the Moderators SWC box, its a little meh. The girl is in a dinamic pose, at least, which I appreciate, and the mohawk guy is in a pose I've seen several times. The intruder looks better than the current HMG one, but is completely different from the sniper in Beyond Coldfront, something I don't understand (two different designs for the same troop with different weapons??).
I like the Sombra, aside from the back cilinders (I understand those are "heat deposits" to avoid overheat when running silent for the Sombra, or when firing heavily with the Kriza, but I don't like those in a supposedly agile and sleek unit, too cumbersome), the EVAder could be a Brigada without the powered armor legs (which is not a bad thing, honestly), and the Hellcat I definitely don't like because of all the elements I don't like in the model (tactical mountain, I know it might be a console, but dude...; sidearm firing and a strange posture, relaxed and turned at the same time), even if the model has more extra details than the previous ones (it looks like it is more important to add pouches and bits to new sculpts, than trying to make them as charismatic as the old ones).

Why is the SAS chatting with the axe? Another AI weapon?

We could play a game: find the CB basic poses. It's like they have computer dollies inherited from putty times.

Third from right has none below the knees because painter problably thought it was a miscast and sanded the micro bumps.

At least this time it seems female weapons are not reduced.

What is the target price, BTW? 120+35 euros?

It's up on the CB store now. Looking at the proper photos the models are all fine, but i'm only really interested in the Sombra, Evader and the really cool Intruder (I already have the Intruder HMG but I really like this new one for some reason).

Now i know what the Zenith 7 reminds me of! Nausicaä of Studio Ghibli wears a similar Gasmask in her movie.

In fact, it's a common thing from a CAD perspective to use a render 'dolly' to build over. They do it in animation (it's pretty obvious with the Disney stuff, for example. There's a commonality of face to all of the female characters that I noticed) all the time.
That way, all you have to do is scale everything to the dolly, instead of doing it from scratch each time.

During a few frames, we could see the Beyond Ariadna part in the booklet, with the Scot Guard and the Kosmosoldat logos and Wallace's fluff, and tomcat & wilcat logos in the nomad part

I just went through the video frame-by-frame on my HD monitor, and I believe the third model for Nomads is the Vostok!
