Kerr nau, E drone are kind of your baseline for the linkable killer hacking device with white noise and pitcher and the Edrone with it's exile and supportware (and the only model in the game that can buff its own shooting) Rarely make a list without both. Rest of the hackers are to taste really, nexus operative can be an inexpensive linkable LT hacker, umbra legate gives you supportware, white noise and the ability to cybermask and could be linked, personally I'm a big fan of the maakrep for 6th sense, MSV2, shotgun, grenades and automed. Others: Samaritain AHD: good with xeodrons. Bit and Kiss: great solo killer hacker with a useful bot but really overshadowed by kerr nau. Fraacta: great if you want a drop hacker. Malignos: hidden specialist, new dazer and KHD profile is great if you have a slot for it. Rodok: Linkable K or AHD Noctifer: exists I guess?
so far I'd say kerr-nau feels almost like an auto-include, and you most likely will want a malignos KHD as a midfield TO specialist. Others that I've tried and liked were e-drone, bit and kiss. Rest look kinda sub-par on paper, that's why haven't tested them on the field.
Bleh, not really. The problem is you're coming from Ariadna, which gets to ignore almost a third of the game thanks to being low tech. You will get flabbergasted by TO Camo and how it interacts with stuff. You will have problems with hacking, and you will struggle with the fact that Onyx is one of the easiest to decapitate armies of the game. That being said, once you figure that stuff out the army plays fine. You will enjoy yourself.
OMG yes! I tried him for the first time recently and I was blown away with how useful he is in Onyx, even if his statline doesn’t gives you a reason to be impressed.
I haven't played Onyx since before these changes... is it because people don't really expect an impersonator in Onyx (i.e. its efficacy will be reduced as more people see them on the board), or is it something else?
I mean it's certainly *nice* if they don't see it coming, but I like it because it provides a way for me to attack in missions with exclusion zones etc. Go after flash pulse bots and cheerleaders to thin things out.
How about Unidron batroids? On paper, the batroid coreteam with teampro seem to very good at advancing under enemy fire.
Oh? I thought that they are great at advancing relentlessly. Enemy needs to inflict 3 or more wounds with AROs to negate dogged. In all other cases, the batroid will activate again.
My opponents didn't see it coming. Even if you're aware of it, you're forced into placing units in key spaces, or still can find a good spot and catch your opponent off guard. Marker state allows you to pass 8" without any issues, including mines On missions with data-tracker where you need to be aggressive with it, you can find a good spot to score points right from the start and set the tempo of the game. MSV1 helps a lot dealing with cheap flash pulse bots. Already starts on the enemy side of the table, so it's a big advantage, and especially for OCF. If you're going second, most likely will force opponent to deal with it, so will waste orders. If he dies, he's just a 21/0.5 model, so no biggie.
Everything that @Lesh' said + the fact that the Onyx list that I tend to build, favors 2nd turn, so it can be quite annoying when you're forced to go first and you don't really want to move your static link yet or spring your primary attack piece just yet. This is why it's nice to have the Griefer, as he already starts next to the enemy DZ and you can cause havoc by efficiently shaving off enemy orders on killing Baggage/FP REM's and other chaff.
