I know it was kind of surprising to see the attire of South American truckers and how well it tracked with US truckers, with pretty much only brands swapped.

How did you come up with that; only nationalists think so. I am not one.

    And it goes to offtopic.

Somehow I missed the moment when USARF was released with rednecks/white supremacists AT THE FOREFRONT OF EVERYTHING. You have some really skewed perceptions.

I don't understand the complaint. All of these units can be used in a vanilla Ariadna list. They are Ariadna units.

Only thing I know about the actual guys driving the trucks in Pakistan is that they wear shalwar kameez, same as any other dude in Pakistan. On a mini it would kinda look like pajamas. Battle pajamas! That and when my dad and his friends hitchhiked to the mountainous northern areas, the truck driver who picked them up was drinking homemade wine from a glass soda bottle, he offered it to these naive teenagers, and my dad's friend drank it down quick. He threw up in the cab and the whole group was promptly kicked out on the side of a mountain road until they got picked up by a bus of people going to China.

More importantly, I found a design I can paint my Monstrucker's truck!:

Of all the things to be annoyed about on the Monstruckers, their choice of hat and pants really wasn't even on the list for me. I'd get the model if I wanted my army to look like a random militia instead of PanO, it's fine on its own merits.

Uh, calm down there with the accusations of (ultra?) nationalism, my dude. Kan made a clear Goodwin's Law violation if I ever saw one, but you're letting him take you on a hike down the wrong neck of the woods there.

When I was a missionary in South America, something similar happened to a couple of friends. There are several local drinks that are basically alcoholic punches (guarapo, garapiña, type of chicha) and dirt cheap ($1/liter). Some newbies didn't know any better, and thought is was *just* punch... yeah... HILARIOUS to us, but... not so much to them that day or the next.

So back to Octobre I guess:

I never wanted a ITS Pack, but now I want an ITS Pack and an Aristeia Pack ... okay not sooo bad, but I think about.

Apart from this I like the Character Pack very much and I like the Ko Dali in it more than the LE from the Book itself ... and yes Adil looks good too, but I already have a painted Adil.

The Monstrucker is not my thing. Not a fan of showing both main weapons, as an engineer he should hold a tool for example. But wasn´t they supposed to be of Ariadnan origin?

The Dire Foes box looks nice, but I am not a fan of the Aleph-Guy or of the Orc with chainfist, I mean, they both look good, but I don´t need another Aleph-Char (but I want Parvati) and I don´t play Shas anyway. But I like the HVT.

Ariadna/TAK Box is tempting, but no. Spiral Spec Op looks good, but no need for.

That left me with no picture of the terrain set - I guess its "only" the terrain and markers from Kaldström so I wait for the upgrade with tower, objective room and bridge.

Well, pretty much the only thing I need from these is Shas Spec Ops.

The Monstruckers are the guys who operate, repair, and defend (mostly)automatic trucks along dangerous routes. This is part of why they have that leg augmentation, they're mag-boots so they can go out and fight or repair things while the truck keeps going. So I guess the boots are at least some representation of them being engineers. Also, they operate beyond Haqqislam but I remember their profile mentioning a particularly dangerous route that has to be defended from Kum bikers, so I think they at least started on Bourak.

And yeah, this is the first time I'm tempted to get an ITS box too. Even the assorted merch looks better than I remember. I'm also tempted to pick up the Aristeia skin since it can been used along side the original version as a USAriadna-themed Dog Warrior in Vanilla Ariadna.

Heck yeah. More games need male honeypots!

You're absolutely right it's a Goodwin's Law violation--but the point was that it very much is a silly-ass thing for the concepts to even exist. Desperadoes and Survivalists are not a part of American culture. They're a part of a very, very specific ethnically and politically locked subculture here in the US that wouldn't have even been a part of the project in all likelihood(and we're talking about a future that isn't that far removed, mind you) simply because of the ethnicities of those involved with the Dawn projects.
Marines+Army being primarily African/Latin/Native American? Can pretty much 100% tell you that shit isn't going to be celebrating redneck culture.
Asian-American and Caucasian science team? Same thing. We're a super polarized country and Christ-botherers(which is what would be the forefront of the Desperado/survivalist nonsense) aren't really the science-y types.

Corvus Belli picked what they wanted and it was "bikers and rednecks". Additionally, anyone who wants to argue the point about rednecks and survivalists being at the forefront of their push? That's cool...but we had dossiers for Desperadoes and Hardcases long before Blackjacks.

Cool, so where's the Wardriver? Chasseur? Literally anything not Tartary Army Korps?

This isn't a faction starter. It's a sectorial starter. Pretending it's a vanilla product is nonsense.

Also, it's funny how they release this and are throwing this bullshit up about Kosmoflot needing to be in a battle-box to bring Ariadna into Code One. Shame they didn't just...y'know, do this.

While I agree that a faction shouldn't be represented by its worst offenders if you want it to have some sort of nuance, I also am not going to try and be the arbitrator of who's right or wrong in an internet argument*. Just try to keep it at a level so others can use the forums, okay?

As a side point, keep in mind the sciencey people got highjacked and experimented on by Tohaa supremacists.

    * It's like a new year's promise - really easy to break, but also kinda dumb to break

@kanluwen vanilla starters are being phased out for some time now, the process started with Onyx starter becoming the new CA starter. I think RV ones were the last real vanilla ones.

And yeah, Desperados and Hardcases are an eye-rolling level of theme setting, and fit USAr theme poorly, but they're only two units, and can be easily replaced by something else. They're an eyesore, but they don't set the tone for the whole sectorial.

Still about 10000% less eye-roll inducing than the Caledonians in kilts.
