Whats everyone opinion on the Nox and their fireteam options.

When looking at them I see a good defensive fireteam. But when I look at the Tensho who can join the Nox fireteam, I want to use it offensively. The Tensho is a good objective grabber. Having a cheap Stealth Veteran specialist just has so many opportunities to be useful when attached to a fireteam. The Journalist is just gravy. I doubt a 5 man fireteam is worth using offensively, but a 3 man core may have potential. I was looking at trying to mix in a Nox HD, Tensho & a wildcard. But the wildcards all have stealth and are specialists. The only reason to keep the Tensho is to hunt jammers (veteran).

Another Nox question I have is the Smart Multi Sniper rifle. Does anyone use it? It's 1B in Smart mode and is just a down-graded SML for guided ammo. Unfortunately it costs more than the SML (T-Drone). I can see upgrading a MSR to a SMSR for 2 points if I had the free points.

Considering you only have 1 Fireteam Core option (the Nox) but Tensho counts as Nox, and all characters are wildcards... you can tweak the Fireteam as much as you want.

For example Sheskiin for a wopping B5 BS 21 at optimal range against no cover... With Victor Messher able to deploy White Noise...

As above, for an offensive FT you'd want to being at least a Hasht, if not the queen herself. Hasht/Sheskiin + Tensho + 3 Nox specialists (maybe a nimbus launcher as well?) would make a pretty good offensive FT.

That said, I've certainly used the defensive options far more than the offensive ones, mostly because Sheskiin is good enough to run solo.

I just find it a shame that the Tensho is only allowed in a Nox fireteam. As a general wildcard it would be too useful. 16 points specialist fireteam filler who can take out Jammers with ease would be too good.

I may run the following if I need cheerleaders. But given the fact that Shasvastii has access to Taigha, I doubt I'd use this. Maybe if I was playing a sphinx list.

What about my himself? He seems like he would be good not in a link at all.

Also, since he counts as a Nox, he can be the anchor for a small team of specialits.

    TENSHO FTO (Journalist L1) Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
VICTOR MESSER (Hacking Device Plus) Boarding Shotgun, 2 Nanopulser, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 28)
CORAX HASHT Spitfire / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 34)

    2 SWC | 78 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

With the Nox I like to run them as a full core with Sheskiin, Nox LGL, Nox hax, Nox Para and Tencho. As the fireteam moves around the board specialist will get dropped off at objective to hold them. Kind of Sheskiin the bus driver. As for the Nox SMSR I haven't used it yet, I used to take it all the time when it was on the Haiduks and it was great.

Sorry for the Threadomancy but I'm getting ready to do some Combined & Shasvastii again. I don't quite understand the 0pt. Civie Tensho. Is it legal to take? I add it to a list and he doesn't provide an order and of course you can only have one. But does this mean you can fill up on everything and then add a Tensho Civvie for 0 points? Even with no weapons, it's still a special operative that can be fed orders.

I believe the civie profile is only for the campaign.

Paradiso? If you don't have the book, how is someone supposed to know this?

Another question, the Smart Multi-Sniper. Can the Guided ammo but used normally? Meaning, must it be used as "Guided". I think it would be pretty useful to have almost a mini-missile with it. In a link it's 2 round template shots with DA Ammo. Only Dmg 13 but it's nice for taking away cover.

Weapons or fire modes with the Guided Trait can only be used against a Targeted enemy.

As for the Civilian Tensho, remember the first two effects of the Civilian skill:

Those additional profiles for the Tech Bee, Tensho, and Tohaa Diplomatic Delegate are for use in narrative and friendly games where they can be used as objectives or instead of the usual HVT/Designated Target.

Edit: In addition to the above, if you add one to your list it will fail ITS validation with the message "Civilians are not eligible for ITS".

The new campaign mode is in Daddy's Fall, but yes. It's not any different from the peacekeeper rule that was also introduced without any notes on what it did. It has only become relevant in the latest ITS because they wanted it to be.

I think @colbrook answered your guided question, but I wanted to add that guided mode limits the burst to 1 with no chance of modifying it... in case that was a more general question about the guided mode.
