Of course, makes perfect sense, doesn't it? EDIT: Especially since any change to Fusiliers will have an effect on not just NCA, but also the Snake Eaters and likely the Winter Force as well.
Fusiliers aren't garrison troops, they are used in every planetary army in Pano. Auxilia (its a latin root word) are a high tech security force for NeoTerra. Its irreverent if the capital planet is peaceful or not, it still needs a security force. As for guessing what changes are coming, I would look to the shock army update for what to expect. I don't expect any major unit reworks. We shall just get mixed links in NCA, which is in itself an awesome addition to NCA. Orc + Fusiliers is a wonderful combo.
Fusiliers in NCA are already worse off than most linkable line troopers in their respective Sectorials... They're capped at AVA5. The AVA cap already shows they're not meant to be a mainstay of NeoTerra. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of giving Bolts and the Aquila additional Orders, using the same mechanisms that IA uses. This gives players two distinct modes of list buildinng... Using the current popular format with Fusiliers, Swiss, Hexas, etc, where every trooper = 1 Order in the pool. Or build a more elite, more disciplined force via Bolts, Aquila LT, etc... Where you have fewer minis on the table, like IA, but every mini potentially generates more than 1 Order. If we could run a 10-13 man lists with Bolts + Aquila that could still spend 14-17 Orders, I think people would try it. It would allow two separate, viable ways to build an NCA list.
Official product info: So convoys, patrols, military operations and tactical exercises are strictly garrison activities? It's funny how you lot have latched on so heavily to the Auxilia's one frigging line about them being "stationed in the garrisons of the PanOceanian capital" when we have: Spoiler Additionally, Auxilia if you want to throw the Latin root word around? Regular army.
I'm calling them Garrison troops because they're Garrison troops as evidenced by their designation as Garrison troops in the rules as well as their description of being troops manning the Garrisons of Neoterra. They've also got what I believe is the highest BS out of the Garrison troops showing their superior training and special equipment.
Oh boy! So because CB classified something(WTF does that even matter?) it means that's what it is? So where is the Mechanized Deployment option for Squalos and Uhlans? The LT or Strategos options for Hexas and Swiss Guard?
that's a stretch – from what I can tell 11 is the norm. there are fewer Garrison profiles with 10 out there
Wishlisting again, leave the Auxilia alone but give them some new Auxbot Profiles. If they're like most garrison troops they end up doing supplementary police work as well as taking on tactical jobs that are too demanding for flatfoots. Auxilia Combi rifle + Auxbot w/ Sensor+LSG Auxilia Combi rifle + Auxbot w/HFT, D-charges Auxilia Combi rifle + Auxbot w/E-Marat (or even a Nullifier, but I think that's voodoo tech)
Metros, Volunteers, and Moderators are the main ones I was thinking of at BS10. Ghazis and Grunts are BS11, and I hadn't realised Kaauri were Garrison, so you're right and they're average
Wow! I never played back in N2, so I never realized that Auxilia were once this awesome! I still love the units, but wow that is a huge difference between now and then.
Perhaps (at least in theory) if they magically become line troops then they have to have better stuff? Don't see it, myself, but with a certain generosity of spirit I could see that argument for it.
