I want to see the Bolt points adjusted, but not dropping the Drop Bear profile by 2 points, but by raising every other profiles cost by 2 points! Not that it would help Bolts, but it would be fun to watch some forum member heads explode. Also I want Fusilier bikers, not on motorcycles, but on bicycles! Infinity's first bicycle unit! Put some sporty bike shorts on them, and swap out the berets for some sweet bicycle helmets. When they are not fighting terrorists, they can hand out parking tickets. On a more serious note, I would love to see the Auxilia profiles expanded, giving them more equipment options. (Coupled with new awesome sculpts, pretty please!) I feel like the Auxilia were supposed to be the bread and butter of NCA, but they are a little too boring. I would like to see them built up, kind of like Order Sargents are for MO.
What I want, since we're all wishlisting and it's harmless fun Fugazi & Bipandra Wildcard Bolt / Aquila Haris Deva + Bolt special Core Locust Duo
His reply is likely focused more upon what 3E did to the Auxilia than Bolts. And really, let's not pretend that Bolts superseded Auxilia.
Which makes sense really, Bolts are a corps of professional soldiers rather than jumped up mall cops with some fancy toys.
That's a bit of a disservice to the Auxilia's background. They're a military unit that also has an internal security role per their fluff. It's like saying the SAS are "jumped up mall cops with some fancy toys" because they could theoretically be called up for internal security roles such as counterterror operations.
Swissguard biker which is TO camo, is something I would definitely like to see... imagine him riding into combat using that zweihander like a boss, cutting down unsuspecting fusiliers as he does, with his martial prowess! A sight to behold!
They're more like the French Gendarmes, they're military and they get fancy kit but their purpose is visible security and support of military operations. Lets face it, these guys are BS11 Garrison troops. They're only one step above a militia, they just have friends in government that got them the budget for some fancy Auxbots.
That's not what the fluff describes, aside from them getting "the best gear". Like I've said in the past: CB dropped the ball with Auxilia. Fusiliers are the ones who should have been classed as Garrison Troops, not Auxilia.
Realistic changes: - Bolts Wildcard - Clipper Wildcard - CSU/Black Friar/Deva can get only one member link with Fusilier OR Bolt Core (one or the other) - NCA Orc get something extra instead of Stealth and can Link 2 in a Fusilier Core - Special Bolt Haris with 1 Orc - Some new profiles for Swiss and Aquila (nothing too fancy, just Lt on the HMG and stuff like that) What i rally want: New profile for the Uhlan with no HMG, double Feuerbach and Heavy Pistol CoC with Counterintelligence Hexa A new specialist option for the Locust that is not KHD vulnerable I`m happy with the first list, if we also get the second one i will play the sh*t of this sectorial again
When I first started playing NCA, 4x Auxilia FOs were pretty standard in a list. Both the bot and the Handler had Forward Observer, letting them both attempt button pushes or Flash Pulse/FO an enemy. They could participate in Coordinated Orders, letting you redeploy 8 miniatures easily. Most importantly... Direct Templates were -6 to be Dodged. All of those rules are changed, but Auxilia didn't get anything to offset the changes. Still a great unit, Auxbots are still excellent, but the unit didn't get any love when N3 came around.
4 auxilia is still my favorite way to watch a Haqq player stare at my deployment zone in bewildered amazement for 10 minutes trying to figure out where to put his fiday! When they start wiggling their finger around trying to work a way into the maze is when you know you did it right...
Big time. That's the most common role for Auxilia now... Defensive turret. The presence of CSUs helps bolster this role for me, since I usually have 2x Auxilia and 2x CSUs. CSUs don't have an Auxbot of course, but Sixth Sense Level 1, shotgun or nanopulser, Specialist, and a possible Metachem boost means they fill the "all rounder" role that Auxilia used to specialize in.
I agree with all of this. I would be fine to roll back what was done in third edition and approve the Auxilia/Auxbots get back what they lost. And absolutely bring back -6 to dodging direct templates.
As someone that ran max AVA Auxilia in 2nd edition Vanilla and NCA, no thanks. Auxilia are garrison troopers, they sit about on Neoterra and occasionally get to follow the big boys in exciting missions. They're perfect at the moment for watching the back of the lads that know what they're doing and guarding the sandwiches back at base.
I'd be happy to compromise by bringing back Forward Observer for both the trooper and the bot. If you spend the Orders hiking a BS11 1-Wounder up the table, I think it's okay that it can reliably push a button, or have a better-than-normal Flash Pulse.
Because the goons who wear berets are sooooooooo much better. No thanks. Nerf Fusiliers, buff Auxilia.
I never really hopped on the Auxilia train – although I didn't play in n2. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced they were going OOP and silently killed them
Yes, nerf the professional, highly drilled infantry corps that's the backbone of the entire military industrial complex and buff the fancy riot cops that spend the majority of their time babysitting one of the most peaceful planets in the Sphere.
