Wouldn't it end up pretty far away?

I don't know much about guns but is there not a dangerous fragment issue with shooting the ground?

Yeah, but I'm actually on the 'combat heels and boobplate is my boob window into miniature wargaming' side. Avoided this purposefully ;)

Depends if you're shooting into dirt, concrete, the kind of bullet, angle you're pointing it at etc. The bullet shouldn't straight up shatter and fragment, it'll most likely embed itself in the ground if it's dirt, or ricochet off and go somewhere else if it's a solid surface like metal or hard rock. That can still be dangerous because it still has quite a bit of energy and can do considerable damage depending on what it hits.

As far as firing straight up: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2011/03/watch_out_for_falling_bullets.html

The overwhelming majority of ground surfaces are going to be penetrated to an extent that will prevent much in the way a fragments or ricochets. There is the risk that the bullet will hit someone's legs though, and I had another soldier's errant burst land within a foot of my boot once.

A bullet is extremely unlikely to land where it was fired, but it is going to land somewhere and the US military isn't big on firing bullets when you don't know where they are going. When you see gun salutes, those guns are firing blanks.

    Anyway

This starter looks pretty well formed I must say. You've got a big long range HMG shooter, a faster, close quarter operator in the Hollow Man, and apparently the Heckler is a skirmisher and hacker in this case. With the Pitcher on the HM, that's very flexible. Then three presumably quite elite line troopers. Good basis for a larger force! Hopefully the Securitate and Grenzer SWC boxes are close behind!

I'm hoping the Securitate profile rework finds around the 14 point range for the Combi, with slight BS, WIP, and ARM/BTS boosts over the Alguacil, but probably less flexible specialist options.

I hope the securitate keep their repeater and lose their SSL2 honestly, from there I don't know what else would be nice on them

I think a repeater profile would be a better way to do it.

Biometric Visor L2 would be cool, but SSL2 and Repeater is also cool. We shall see!

Yeah that's smarter than bloating everyone's cost that's going to be in a fireteam anyway

Honestly it just sounds obnoxious to have that many bunched.

SSL2 loses it's luster on a unit with a core link, and to expand on what loricus said, having 5 repeaters in a link is overkill. In both cases you'd be paying points for skills/equipment that are redundant. We do know they lost the shotguns, so I'm curious what we are going to get in exchange. I want X-visors, but I doubt I am going to get what I want.

Id personally prefer SSL2 + haris and have repeater on a profile, the value of having a SSL2 hacker is pretty good especially when current meta involves alot of KHD ninjas

I am very impressed and join the statement: Best Starterbox till now - no tactical schnickschnack cool and natural poses. I am in. This is my second sectorial for Nomads!

I'd rather they do a mixed link with 1-2 Interventors than bring their own hackers, and I'd rather one had a Panda profile than a built in repeater (Interventors, obviously, would cover this).

Yes, it does go far away.

But if you fire in the air and kill someone on the other side of the city, you still killed somebody.

In context of what I was responding to (the video mentioned) it makes sense to bring up. I wasn't suggesting that makes it not dangerous.

I was kinda wondering how on earth the thread reached the discussion about people dying from falling bullets....

Yes, people (and wild animals) tend to die from reckless shooting at the air it is advisable to not do it.

Should also be illegal in most countries too.
