I always got the feeling that the line between regular and private military is very thin in PanO, especially with the bigger hypercorps being lobbyists and effectively part of the government.
Using an example from Aliens - this is like a difference between Colonial Marines and Weyland-Yutani PMCs. W-Y has enormous pull on the government and can arrange a deployment of Marines here or there, but they're still outside their immediate control and not in the know when it comes to crucial black ops intel (which the troops of course resent, since it had bitten them in the ass more than once). PMCs are fully inside the megacorp' structure, and answer to the management, not the government. While PanO lobbies are the ultimate movers and shakers to the point of practically owning the government, they're still a separate structure.
Oh Magna Obra, one of my sectret passions! I´ve been working on a Magna Obra themed force for quite some time now, with the Fluff of them employing Druze, Qapu Khalqi is a given, and from there one, just proxy every single unit :D Hafza Lt. -> O-12 Commissar (they even share the same damn pose!) Hafza -> limited male CSU Beyond Red Veil, Limited CSU RPG Odalisquen -> HVT Dire foes 4, limited female CSU Icestorm, regular CSU, Limited Miranda Ashcroft, regular Miranda Ashcroft, Djanbazan -> Black Stone Commandos from Human Interface Druze -> Druze Mobile Brigada -> Black Stone Commando HI from Human Interface Iguana -> Black Stone Commando TAG from Human Interface Haven´t had a chance to play them on the table, but used them heavily in one of my RPG groups as the big bad shadow in the background. They give off a nice "Bad Corp." Vibe, I just need to get around and paint up those suckers :( I would just wish they would give us a regular version of all those limited Miniatures, neeed more guys n gals in office attire sporting guns!
Thinking about it, NeoTerra certainly has a very PMC feel. Now with the Shasvastii Girl, they even got the "odd" hired gun too. Of course its kinda dependent on Bolts, but they certainly are the PanO version of Druze. And Devas can simply be replaced by some personal character with all their options and NWI.
Bran Do Castro, Le Muet, Vassily, and Pavel McManus are all from the RPG campaigns that birthed Infinity.
yeah I know, it was more of a selfish try to get myself made as a miniature xD Securitate are ok, and I'll use them heavily, but some more csu style bodyguards would be also nice (since there is only really one regular, non limited or proxied model)
na2 meaning mercs in general, we are getting a freedom fighter for all vanilla faction except PanO. Hoping we'll get more NA2 in the book outside of that merc :)
Yeah when IIfirst saw that page in the video I thought maybe we are getting new Sectorials, but then again it could just be the chapter for the Libertos and that's it. :/ With all the hype around the other stuff I doubt there will be anymore great surprises. Something like an Alien Merc Company would be funky though, based around d some Tohaa/Sygmaa links maybe.
I didn't think about that. You might be right. It also allows them to avoid getting the Tohaa player's excited about anything because happy and excited Tohaa players are bad.
I guess both are possible. Kaplan plus some stuff is a very easy to make Sectorial and Triumvirate would-be super cool. I doubt they blindside us like that tho they rather ride the Tohaa hype train for a couple of month at least. :/
Yeah I would love to see a Kaplan focused na2 army but agree that it would take a big chunk out of what makes QK special. I want to see like a really dark pano ish na2 army. Something like how star co is basically nomads but with pano. Granted I know pano has gotten a ton of stuff lately but it seems they would make sense with all of their huge megacorps that have to have some shady private security. Also the hexahedron isnt above putting their own agents in/in charge of mercenary teams like in outrage.
