Read between the lines: So-ra model is not intended to be used as herself but as a proxy for another combi-Jujak.
Advertising your new character for their proxy potential definitely rings of 'yeah, we totally made an extra combi rifle model by mistake.'
All I wanted was her to count as a Shang-ji so she could form her own Jujack fire team, and NCO to finally make use of the Captain's double Lt. orders in White Banner. But like the Captain, we have a model who just doesn't compete with her point contemporaries, hardly justifying a purchase let out using in a list.
I just don't understand their reasoning for her. What purpose does she serve? She's not a specialist, counts as a regular Jujak, and looks like is not even a "character". Costs the same as the spitfire. +1 BS Loose 1 burst Gain +1 DMG, back to spitfire DMG and HFT DMG but smaller template Shock MR option so same effect range as a spitfire Loose HFT Gain E/M mines or LFT She's effectively the same or maybe worse then a spitfire Jujak. This is what makes me think it's a bad fix to a mistake. I don't know the math but I'm guessing a Spitfire has the a close kill ratio as a Shock Marksman or Shock Combi with +1 DMG.
This company is getting really good at don't giving a fuck about big disappointments/mistakes. In this case, I don't know if they just sculpted a regular Jujak with combi and fucked up ala Tai Sheng/Krit or simply didn't care enough about providing a nice miniature which should get attention: "this is enough although she looks 100% the same as Jujaks, the armor is the same, she's carrying a combi rifle as the regular profile, the sculpt is nothing fancy for a character and it doesn't stand out as a miniature among her HI equals". It's been a long time now, I don't expect good quality standards from CB anymore whether it's a bad decision or just the random error in the sculpt/army/rules. It's the common joke in several Infinity communities I know "what's gonna be the next thing?" and we just laugh at the next one. I keep playing because the game is freaking awesome and I don't like other games, but this is not serious anymore and I don't feel they are getting the community right.
Doesn't the miniature have a heavy flamethrower? Light flamethrowers are like a deo can with a match strapped to the front of the gun.
I mean.... there's exactly 2 Korean troops and nobody likes either of them. At this point I'll say they can fuck right off then and I'll take my chances on whatever the eventual replacements are as I can't be any worse off without them. Uhh... yeah you make a good point her mini absolutely has a Heavy Flamethrower on it that none of her profiles are equipped with. Chalk up another one to Gutier is absolutely full of shite and this is an accidental sculpt they hastily repurposed.
I'll try to stay positive. When they see very few if any are taking her for tournaments, or WB for that matter, then maybe we'll see a Krit-like fix. He sucked before and now he's well liked. I just hope the same happens for Jing Qo, Adil, and Gao. However Sun Tze has hardly changed and I don't think I've ever seen him used in a tournament. Oh well moving on. I've got my Dahshat Fiddler conversion to work on.
I feel like if these guys were an N2 profile, they wouldn't have bothered including them in N3 and now would be about the time they returned as Silhouette 5.
I'm not a Yujing player, obvious if you look my avatar, but I disagree a lot with this kind of hero profiles... I don't want "big killer heros which you have to put in your list or lose", we already have one army of that kind, SSA, and it is good, as much as it was something extraordinary. Characters should bring "something, some more", even when they are "a guy almost the same his main unit". To me, a good example of this is Quinn, from Panoceanian, if we avoid the discussion of he looks more like a Regular of Acontecimento than any other "pano line troup", we found a "guy" who provides a weapon we usually don't in Pano, good BS for a IL, a little higher VOL and a specialist option (FW) + visor, all of it makes him a choice, not to bright but enough to be de differences and taking in consideration if places him in the list or not. Back to the main topic, I don't want to make this about "pano against yujing", I only bring here what I think is a good example of what I think is a "good not OP character" even when I could think his sculpture wasn't at first for that role, because he "is a regular" but Acontecimento was discontinued. We can find a lot of examples of characters which are pretty much the same as his "main units", so they become a "proxy". In this case, to me, Sora looks too much like a regular "jujak". I hope CB take more care of this kind of things in the future, not only use a character to do a "funny joke" bout themselfs", it could be done both. Sadly, @Space Ranger , I don't believe CB takes in consideration too much what players do use in tournaments, even if they do probably they put effort on what already it is played. What could do any difference... if the box don't shell at it should, or even if in the future, when the fireteams changes come a reallity, maybe the profile has more sense. This is the kind of things others complain about it in others messages up... We don't know anymore when a plan exists or not. I hope for you, Yujing players, the profile has some changes to make her something more than a "proxy" of a regular "jujak"... Or maybe, and only maybe, a lot of players beat us and they truly play this character making her works... So we should be silent :P Who knows... Still what I'm saying it is a selfish feeling, because maybe we, panoplayers, will be the next ones :P
IA can have their Cpt back - WB can do fine without him. With the Jujaks, we have enough shelf guards. Jujak ML not even released but nominated for the least used HI Which is the other? This so sad, even with her sculpted layout she is not Wysiwyg. Was it so hard to design a loadout, that actually matches her design?
I think in general this is reflecting poorly on this part of the community. So Ra is a disappointing release because she's not transformative, but she's not bad in the way Bipandra was for a long time nor does she have a hand-adjusted punitive cost the way Sun1 has nor does she come with unwanted stuff like Kirpal Singh. Like seriously, this is an over reaction to the shrug the unit deserves or the laugh, at CB's expense, for how they try to hype something that isn't worthy of hype. Or, really, any engagement for that matter.
Technically So-Ra is a separate entry from the Jujaks so I was counting them as two. CB are being crap at their job, people are calling them out on it.
