Where you read that you couldn't disperse inside the enemy's DZ? I never saw it in the rules, except for this: AI Beacon and Combat Jump: Dispersion If during the Deployment Phase, the bearer of AI Beacon suffers a Dispersion using the AD: Combat Jump Special Skill that causes it to exit the game table, then the player must consider it lost, and a casualty that counts toward the Retreat! and the Victory Points.
Dispersion Rules, Basic Rules, N3 rulebook. I would quote the relevant words and page number but I can't be arsed to download the english pdf.
It's a minor nerf from how most people probably interpreted the rules. The AI Beacon model isn't a trooper, but you have to treat it as such for resolving the Combat Jump or the rules start to break down.
In my experience, most people have been using it exactly how the new "nerf" says they should. On the other hand, bothering to fix this "problem" seems silly compared to other things still not FAQ'd.
Thanks! That rule makes no sense... why your AD can drop inside the enemy deployzone but he can't disperse inside it? that's a lil dumb :P
In the FAQs document. In shorts... No matter where they land, they stand. If they exit the table, they are lost. End of it.
Which is probably why they made the change. The Infinity rules are getting so confusing that the confused interpretations are making it into the FAQ.
No. It was because a lot of us (me included, even if i can remember just a couple of times it ever happened) were using it in the wrong way.
I don't think there's a right or wrong way to play Infinity anymore. Only the agreed upon way. I don't think anyone can tell me that there is a standard way to read and apply the rules so they work the same for everybody. I tried to imagine what I would do if i were new to Infinity and wanted to know how to play an Imetron. https://infinitythegame.com/ -> Game -> How to Play = Quick Start Rules with nothing about combat jump or beacons. Moving to the downloads section to learn more is problematic. We've got New Rules, Rules, NS FAQ, HSN3 Rules, Beyond New Rules. Countless additional PDFs for missions, ITS, events, profiles, charts etc etc. There is absolutely no indication what rules override other rules. AD combat jump and AI Beacons are explained in terms of trooper/weapon/equipment, but what anything actually is, and what the rules refer to is not clear. They interchange the wording to levels of inconsistency I've never seen before. Not to mention how important and relevant rulings are scattered across various sections or documents. One PDF says AD Combat jump uses a template and dispersion with an additional note for AI Beacons. Another says Weapons no longer suffer dispersion. Yet another says Troops don't use the template. The Imetron profile, (called a troop profile btw), listed as a Support Trooper, has a long list of rules in the AI Beacon section. I could probably write a paper on the inconsistent terminology and unclear statements used throughout. The profile shows it generates a regular order and the AI Beacon rules say it grants an order, sounds like i get two lol. I'd love one rules app that automatically updates itself as things are changed, added, or removed. Highlighted changes since i last opened it would be a welcome addition to help keep up as well. One Rulebook to rule them all, One Rulebook to find them, One Rulebook to bring them all, and in the darkness enlighten them.
http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Main_Page I don't think Ian hasn't had chance to update it with the latest FAQ yet, but the wiki plus Infinity Army is a consolidation of everything in every rules/profiles PDF, the only additional is this year's ITS document if you play ITS.
