Sorry I wasn't very clear. I have noticed that things that are meant for a sectorial's benefit often get an SWC tax in Vanilla, regardless of AVA.
unti the strlok those things were essentially pano only. its a shit design idea in my opinion, either give access or dont
See you use the words "often get an SWC tax", but how many things in Vanilla lists actually pay more points than in Sectorial? In the whole of the game, how many can you find?
honestly with varuna finally getting its sectorial I think we're almost at the point where its "why play vanilla pano" I think that the secotrials are going to just add a shitload more depth that the limited as crap vanilla
Well, I think that you don't count non SWC Zouaves, Molotok Maverick, any infiltrated Camo ariadnan lt and so on...
Double TAG? Still being able to field some heavy stuff while still being able to enjoy Varuna infiltrators and Acontecimento Minelayers?
And thats about it. Theres really not much generic Pano is offering that you can't find in the sectorials.
That at the sval units. Yeah. Playing anything else is asking to give up a lot for access to low ava diversity. And its weird but i think, for various reasons. That theres more diversity in build available to our sectorial lists. Which is usually not the case
which is stupid. Ariadna doesn't count. They have sum AVA of 13 on skirmishers. For reasons. While 2 croc man and a TO FO OS would be way too OP. For reasons. Double Tikbalangs in ASA? Also are we forgetting Peacemakers as pseudo infiltrators, or I should just read the thread properly?
It's basically going to be "Nisses and Jotums and weird-ass combinations of units: The Vanilla". I still appreciate it for the ability to bring weird combinations of things, but Varuna is going to steal so much thunder it won't even be funny. It would not be surprising if CB actually just pulled the plug on Vanillas when the last round of Sectorials get released. PanO has units from Varuna and Sval, YJ needs Invincible Army and White Banner, Ariadna will have everything in a Sectorial when TAK drops, Nomads are complete, Haqq needs Ramah and Gabqar Khanate, Combined Army needs an Ur/EI sectorial and a Shas re-release, everything in Aleph will have a home when OSS drops, and Tohaa are Tohaa. At my count that's 6 sectorials without release dates. Presumably IA is early next year, Ramah after that, and then Sval vs WB in an Operation Adjective Noun next year. Shas re-release at some point, and a new CA sectorial with the Avatar, Charontid, Skiavoros, etc and that's it. Could the big mysterious N on the schedule next fall be dropping Vanilla factions?
Krakots, Regular Minelayers, Auxilia, Guards, all TAGs, Joan + multiple solos. Access to CC, Vis MODs, KHD, TO AROs & (good) MSV2+ at the same time. There are a lot of things I like Vanilla. but it absolutely has a lot of issues: SWC tax, has all the garbage, should have a proper goddamn COC so you can actually run a TAG Lt or Joan without getting very jumpy, I prefer several stronger solo pieces to Links and I'm not quite sure why Vanilla PanO has to be hamstrung so hard. Every other Vanilla Faction is pretty great, PanO makes you work for it. The things you need are there but you have to look for gold in a scrapyard instead of a jewlery store. A straight up better AD would be a good start, imho one of the major ways to circumvent the neccessity of Smoke. A KHD that isn't an AVA1 Hexa TO Token in your DZ would be nice. Proper leadership would be nice (Strategos, CoC, NCO...). Being able to take a combat/utility Engineer in a TAG Faction would be nice. White Noise or Eclipse you can actually put on the table would be nice. And more than 1.5 Auxbot choices would be nice.
Actually Kirpal is the same price as a Myrmidon officer CoC, but without the SWC cost, so he may be not that horrible (just ignore the existence of Kaeltar for a moment). You take Kirpal, put him away like he were a Fusilier LT on top of a rooftop and go on a rampage with a Jotum. 35 pts is quite a lot, but still better than LoL.
Or you don't take a Jotum Lt but a regular one, don't take Kirpal and bring 2 extra Orders and an Engineer for the same cost. Myrmidion Officer is still a NWI ODD Specialist that chuggs Smoke/Eclipse on 16s.
