Martial Arts 3 was generally a better choice against most N3 targets due to the way attributes over 20 work. I don't know if there's an N4 calculator out yet but I wouldn't imagine much has changed. I do hope Oniwaban get a knife in N4 so they can benefit from the +DAM mod though.
Now how about Nimbus? Now since even MSV1 can shoot through smoke, it makes Nimbus a nice option. True it's a -3 or -6 for plus, but it's also -1 to burst and works against all MSV. They can now do CC (+1) on some characters and troops now that it's not directly tied to Marital Arts until Level 5.
You'd use level 4 on incompetent opponents and the break point for when to use level 4 was pretty smack on 20, so there was quite great utility in using the improved burst as nearly all TAGs and HI (with exceptions that are pointless to point out) fall into the category of "incompetent" The issue with giving them level 5 would of course be that N4 level 5 is a lot more powerful than N3 level 4 ever had any hope to be.
It only changed the damage powercreep on CC... (some troops reach damage 18 EXP) and If we keep all from C1, the fact that you can't kill your allied troops shooting to a CC, so a specialist in CC with mimetism or nanoscreen is ultra safe from -6 to -12, dodging shoots on ZoC without LoF... there's almost no good way to take a specialist out without spending lot's of orders on the process. just put a suppressive fire next to it in advance for when he kills your allied troop
Seems like all the dodge, template and CC rules are clean and clear of confusion. But it will take some learning to see how to properly use what tactics or skill.
I think that the reason you don't hit allied troops in cc in c1 is just because c1 is way less complex and shooting your own guys doesn't look like newbie friendly rule.
So two Shikami can hopscotch dodging into CC with an entire fire of Myrmidons hanging up on one at a time to obliterate them. Other Dodge 4" can do it but not as good as superjump+climbingPlus when dodging. Depending on how coordinated orders work in N4 they might be able to take Ajax out in one order as well but one of them has to go down swinging. If IJW can clarify what coordinated orders are? I tried the wiki for C1 but nothing there. Overall, I'm very excited for Shikami. There look and kit is going be something worth watching. I'm imagining players staring at the board mapping out trajectory to deliver these guys. They don't even have to reach CC cause of the Assault Pistol. One more question for IJW. Say you move one Shikami into CC. The next order you declare CC attack as the first half of the order, the enemy model declares CC ARO, can we still move another member of a fireteam as the second half of the Order and it just be considered idle by the troop already in CC. This way attaining the gang up bonus whilst denying the enemy a free shot at the troop who is not the fireteam leader.
Because it's the most we know of the N4 mechanics so far, the two games are built on a common framework.
Yes, I'm really insinuating N4, but it's not working? So STRAIT UP, I want to know are there still coordinated orders in N4 and how do they work for CC...
CB youtube channel. There was a n4 theme week when they posted vids daily. 1 of them was short fictional battle report.
And yes, aside from the Hundun placement and reveal, the Yu Jing player did almost everything possible to give the Starmada player victory. It's a show match with a fixed outcome and it turns out Starmada were the Space Marines this time.
Eh, both sides played fairly horrible. The Starmada list was vastly better suited for the job and imho played *better*. Displays the biggest fish in a small pond Infinity situation, where you can dominate your local meta without actually having to be any good at the game. You never run out of those... like the guy from who's supposedly the best player in his local area, showed up *to win it* with an abysmal list for an out of meta army to the German Masters, got bottom 3 or something out 40-50 players and proceeded to bitch about how the dice fucked him (rather than personal mistakes and low Order count lists poorly suited to a competetive environment). You can lose a game during deployment and you can lose a game during listbuilding with the stakes high enough.
Sure, it's possible the Yu Jing player was abysmal, but you can edit it to make it less obvious. Not putting your Fireteam to max possible? Putting one of your worst troopers (and Fireteam capable units) in Suppression instead of the Jujak? Moving forward your ace in the sleeve to not get cover and waste shots on a far too strong target? Completely removing the Shang-Ji hacker from play for more than a turn (edit: the Shang-Ji actually missed a few AROs on the Bronze because of that, btw, which is probably to the Shang-Ji's benefit :p)? Putting your only anti-Bronze so far back it couldn't possibly do anything? It's like they were afraid of actually showing anything off. I honestly found the Starmada decisions to be reasonable all in all, if you take into account that you actually want them to do some things. (Edit: maxed fireteam, hidden cheerleaders, keeping the LT in Total Cover...)
