Japanese has 5 vowels that are roughly the same as in Spanish or Hebrew (minus some differences in rounding). It is closest to the "a" as in "father" in Standard American. That said, as another Japanese speaker chiming in to the thread, my instinctive understanding of the phonetic rules of Japanese make it sound really unusual with the ʃ pronounciation, even though I can't produce a real reason that that those sounds can't be in that order.
I know, I'm spanish so my way of pronunce is similar to japanese. I tried to explain how it could be pronunced by an english speaking person (in a way I was told by a japanese years ago). The "Mu", is more like "moo" for an english speaking person (like in food) for example.
Yes. The way you sounded out the vowels was correct and clear . And Japanese does have a sha sound. It’s just very funny when we spell and say muSHAshi. When I noticed it the first time I was scratching my head .
That's where the rounding comes in. Japanese /u/ is unrounded and English /u/ is rounded, so English speakers sometimes sound like they're exaggerating the sound. @HotFreshTofu are we acquainted IRL btw? I live in the Koshinetsu region.
No, I believe not. I live in Osaka. There isn't an infinity community here afaik. Just me and my buddy.
I'm pretty sure someone did a custom Bostria mini as a Tournament prize! Though I'd prefer Fusilier Bostria because of the delicious irony. Carlos: "Bostria, we've decided the time has come to immortalise you in pewter" Carlos: "Oh my goth Mr. Torres, OK, lovely! Is it something demolishing? Carlos: "You're going to be a Fusilier!" Carlos: "Noooooooooo!" Carlos: "We're also making Koni as a Crane Agent" Carlos: "Haha, take that Bostria!"
There was definitely a Bostria-as-Sun-Tze floating around as well. I think it was one of the things available at one of the NovaCores, but I'm not certain.
I have to correct myself, there are some B miniatures out there: I've found them in google, but this second one links to somewhere here in the forum, so maybe someone can reclaim ownership?
"somewhere" = @TheDiceAbide where he said @nehemiah sculpted them (a drunk yuan and this bostria-kuang).
Yup! @nehemiah sculpted the Kuang Shi Bostria for the Las Vegas Open. He also sculpted the Drunk Yuan Yuan and Drunk Monstruckers for the Rose City Raid.
This one was for pre-registration for novacore 2020 (The event unfortunately did not go ahead, due to coronavirus lockdowns. The miniatures were sent out to those on that list, though. The event might happen before the end of year, but my money is on coming back like a second wave lockdown in 2021).
Novacore is an annual multi-day event run in Newcastle (NSW, Australia) around mid-year. Organised by the ever amazing Delta-Kilo.
Yup. Novacore is currently our largest infinity tournament (and satellite tourney) in the entire country to date. Deltakilo does amazing work. So do his legion of unnamed helots. :D
