You can also swap for the multi-sniper, which was actually pretty interesting in my game last night. The haris is capable of being a real threat at just about any range band. I do think I like Leila in there the best though ...
I believe Leila has a place there as being very inexpensive, while having decent range with Shock ammo (and no SWC tax!).
I'm not quite sure whether that option really changes much about that Haris. Price is about the same. EBS modifiers are roughly the same as well. You get the advantage on wounding within 8", but then again, at that range you will make use of MMSL2 less often as well. Speed advantage is more or less nullified by being linked, meanwhile you will suffer from terrain and Dazers. Kaplan specialist profiles are definitely not bad. NWI is nice though.
My (limited) experience in RTF (Muktar in Janissary and Tarik in well... uh... formally a Ghulam Core Teams) suggests it still comes in useful when maneuvering the team around. Sure, it is basically an Order saved here or there once everyso often, but an Order saved is an Order saved. Though it seems that requires a lil' bit of practice.
Well, I'm not saying it's useless, just that it's not going to pump out it's full potential. Probably. Same thing about other points. You won't always flank opponents in CQC, you won't always face MSVs, you won't always take just 1W and/or face no Shock/Viral... It's just that between Oda Haris options and previously existing Kaplan Haris compositions, Bill doesn't really change anything radically for QK in that regard.
Indeed he doesn't. I don't believe he should, however. He's a nice, flavourful addition, and allows for some new combinations. In fact, a single new model bringing a radical change to a sectorial is, I believe, something not to ask for!
Not sure if it's really flavourful or the opposite, but if there's an army with which it's hard to argue that some unit "doesn't fit in there", it's QK... I'm still not a fan of this entire "Bill the Janissary" thing, although mechanically speaking, they do like their fillers.
If I get it right, we can do a "Wild Bill-Fireteam Core" with Wild Bill plus - up to 2 Hafzas - up to 2 Odalisques - Leila - up to 4 Janissaries and call it a Janissaries Core...
Correct. A "mixed fireteam" has to contain at least one model from the original unit type. So, you need at least 1 Janissary to build a"Janissary" Fireteam. Wild Bill counts as Janissary, so he can be used to fulfill that requirement...

I am fairly sure this is incorrect. It was discussed thoroughly when Tunguska was released, and the gist was this: Imagine that Fireteams in general are created empty and filled with troopers that are eligible to join them. Some Fireteams (Haris, Duo) require at least a single trooper with appropriate skill in it in order to be legal when you're done filling them. Fireteam: Core is not a skill, however, and there's no requirement to include authentic units this Core is named after, everyone in them just has to be eligible to join. Said authentic units are automatically allowed in their Fireteams ofc, but others require special rules, such as "counts as", "may join particular FT" etc. That means we can indeed have Unit X Fireteams without a single X in them. For example: Perfectly legal Zuyong Invincibles Core ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 BOUNTY HUNTER Submachine Gun, Akrylat-Kanone / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) BOUNTY HUNTER Submachine Gun, Akrylat-Kanone / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) BOUNTY HUNTER Submachine Gun, Akrylat-Kanone / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) BOUNTY HUNTER Submachine Gun, Akrylat-Kanone / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) RUI SHI Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 20) 1.5 SWC | 68 Points Open in Infinity Army In Dashat, Rui Shi can only join Zuyongs. But Bounty Hunters are Wildcards. So you create a Zuyong Fireteam, make Rui Shi join it and fill it out with BHs. Securitate Core Fireteam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 GRENZER Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) GRENZER (Biometric Visor L1) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) GRENZER (Forward Observer, Sensor) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) 3 SWC | 138 Points Open in Infinity Army In Tunguska, Grenzers count as Securiates for Fireteam creation purposes. And this is Grenzer Fireteam because Interverntors can join Grenzer Fireteams, but not Securiate Fireteams ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 GRENZER Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) GRENZER (Biometric Visor L1) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) GRENZER (Forward Observer, Sensor) Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) 2 SWC | 130 Points Open in Infinity Army What label says. 5 Grenzers can all go into Securitate Fireteam, but Interventors only fit into Grenzer fireteam, up to 1. So you have to make Grenzer Fireteam. Securitates won't be able to join as long as Interventor is there. One he's out, you can break down the rest, declare Securitate FT and make a proper Securitate fill the freed spot. So yeah, this is a perfect Janissary Core with a spare member who will be able to join no matter who goes down ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 LEILA SHARIF Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Shock Marksman Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, Knife. This was added to Fireteam Core with the last FAQ invalidating those Fireteams. IMPORTANT! When creating a Fireteam: Core that includes Wildcard troopers, you must include at least one trooper from one of the units listed for that Fireteam in the Sectorial chart, or a trooper who counts as one of those units. Likewise a Haris or Duo's Fireteam type is now based on the trooper with the Skill
I thought that was always the case tbh. Also, Grenzers do count as Securiates, so it seems that one wasn't invalidated. Finally, Bill counts as Janissary. So the only fireteam that was invalidated there is Dashat's Rui Shi turret Fireteam with no Zuyong, because Rui Shi simply can join it. I stand corrected on that one, but the rest seem to be legal to me, including no-Janissaries-Janissary Core.
I included the Janissary HMG in the link because the HMG is just too good to leave out. But it should be a valid (and cheaper) Janissary link if you change the HMG Jan to an Odalisque or Hafza.
I guess we're having a small misunderstanding here, because that was exactly my point: you need at least one Janissary to form a Janissary Fireteam. Since Wild Bill counts as Janissary, he can be the one Janissary you need to form a Janissary Core around, no problem. Same way as Hortlak Janissaries in Ramah (who are considered to be Janissaries for the purpose of creating Fireteams there). But I guess it is the time of the day, o shaykhs, when many of us should be having our coffee. And the rest, I hope, would gracefully join us for a cup, too. Somebody pass over the baklava, please... :)
No, Fireteam restrictions only apply to forming the team, they're not part of the Fireteam Cancellation clauses. If broken you can't re-form it without a Janissary or Bill, which is where EVO Hackers come in handy for TeamPro.
It means that if Bill dies and you want to reform, you will have to declare formation of Odalisque Core instead because there are no Janissaries around to include in Janissary Core. But after that continue on your merry way. However, links don't break if set of pieces that currently constitute it doesn't fulfill criteria of forming such a Fireteam. Haris goes on without Haris pointman as long as there is a Leader, Crusade fireteam with one non-leader Hospitalier down is still Crusade Fireteam. You just won't be able to reform them later without spares.
Does the Haris break if the Haris-skilled trooper die? As far as I know, no. You need him to create such a Team. Not mandatory to maintin it. By the same logic, I'd expect our "Bill the Janissary Core" to remain in play in case of his untimely death as well. Barring, of course, the situation in which the lone Janissary / Bill dropping out of the Team (dead, unconscious or simply wandering away on his own business) was the current Team Leader. Still, that's how I do see things. I might be wrong...
