I find this a little disappointing - the rank insignias look way too generically human and nothing like any of the Morat symbols we already have :(

Yeah, I just can't take that "male gaze" argument seriously because you're not really defining it as anything specific. Your "passive pose" claim seems to be a circular argument.

Well, it’s not dissimilar to how most human rank insignias are very different from divisional and regimental insignia. Makes it simpler for quick identification.

I'm surprised CB has not made a mini like this. A feminine male HVT. They missed out on creating a Hwarang unit for Yu Jing. Those Korean pretty boys were warriors that would fit into Infinity's battlefeild some some modern upgrades. Let them keep their bows as it would help make their loadouts unique.

Well, when the text where it’s located notes that they’re like that specifically to avoid clashing with regimental insignia, well… after all, just because it’s too similar to human insignia doesn’t mean it’s that way for a bad reason.

Again - to avoid clashing based on a human symbol and pattern recognition

Heck, humans don't even agree upon what symbols are and aren't easily distinguishable. I, a non-Japanese/non-Chinese/non-Korean person can't always distinguish between the writing of these 3 different languages (EDIT - I say 3 languages, but I am aware that "Chinese" isn't a language and that the people of that country use varied verbal/written languages). I also struggle to tell different characters apart when looking at Japanese Kanji. Someone familiar with these characters would have less, if any, problems doing the same.

I said it was disappointing - my personal opinion - that this was made so human-like and unlike existing Morat aesthetics. My argument wasn't about the efficacy of the insignia or the logic that drove them, only that it feels 1000% bland and uninspired.

I would like to see a morat buggy like in Betrayal, even if it's for the Bootleg range, furthermore if CB is looking for inspiration I have this :
Ok ok I'm going out... :joy:

I personnaly wish we get some form of a playable oznat w hungries fireteam again when the new fireteam rules finaly come out.

Those oznat models are too beautiful not to be used.
For now I use them on my datuzari fireteam when it gets out ;)

And i'm not bothered in the least by the way CB renders morat females so far.

The old style Oznat+Hungries team pulled so much weight on my MAF lists I made my Oznat officially a Veteran Badass who routinely schools the younger males because "Fuck you, I ripped an avatar open with MY BARE JAWS, you whelp" (That actually happened and it was every bit as badass as it sounds).

Ren'ehk has been shelved ever since N4 hit and it makes me a sad red-handed murderer T_T.

I'm fine with the hunting party fireteam dying off. It was a gimmick I never liked and was the crutch of any "competitive" Morats list.

That is a good idea. I never thought of using them in that manner.
You could go Gromuk's route and use her as a Daturazi if you wish. She seems to be a special character that deserves to be used on the tabletop.

I would be less bothered if it was actually gone.

As it is right now, it's just clunky and hard to use or justify in a list, so it kinda feels like a bait and switch thing. Especially because Oznats have been improved.

I would like it if Oznats had gained sensor as a base skill and turned into wildcards, for example. I wouldn't miss the hungry link that much.

Yikes, didn't mean to upset you fella!

Out of interest are you female?

I ask cause the missus loves all of my Female Nomads, so subjectively she would disagree with you point.

Your main complaint appears to be about old sculpts, as I've shown CB are correcting the problem.

The miniature TT skirmish market is extremely niche, especially 20 years ago. So if you wanted to make it past the first few years of business it was best then (And probably is still now) to market towards your demographic (Men...Well boys )

Now they're a little more established they've started creating the sort of men & women we're all happy to work with. Buff dudes and ripped women, Hipsters and Anime lasses. I get dimensions are hard to work with but you get better with practise, and remember this is true scale.

The reason I strongly disagreed with your OP is because it was way off the current CB mark (As shown). So it looked like you were just virtue signalling for the sake of it.

I also work in advertising in England, and I have to watch decisions being made behind the scenes where comments like this actually have a massive impact on creative flexibility, compare North American adverts to the England's right now, the funny has died...:skull_and_crossbones:

You really just referred to me as a man before asking if I was a woman...

You may not mean it to, but this just comes across as more red flags regarding your motivations/beliefs around the subject matter.

    And, I don't know... Cadbury managed this without being offensive or requiring censoring in any way;

This whole "artistic freedoms" argument is also just so... tedious and infuriating.

    Like, you understand the sculptors job, right? They are given a set of criteria to meet and they sculpt the models accordingly. Knowing CB it'd be something like;
    • 1 in 4 models is female
    • 2 are holding combi rifles
    • 2 have SWC weapons
    • 2 are standing on rocks
    • They are all human
    • They must fit the existing aesthetic style of Nomads/PanO/Yu Jing/Aleph/etc
    • They cannot carry any weapons/equipment not fitting existing unit profiles
    • The models must be true to existing scale

Like, what of the above is not limiting the "artistic freedoms" of the sculptor? Why does this argument come out exclusively to combat any discussion around the portrayal of female characters and nothing else?

The sculptor is never artistically free to just ad lib whatever they want because they have to meet the vision of the people paying for the work.

I think I gave on page 1 a warning for this kind of discussion.

Am I allowed to disagree? Honestly just asking where the line is so we don't step over it...

Hopefully I'm not bending the rules by saying I think you're possibly finding offence where there really isn't any to be found or intended. I think again as has been shown a few times now CB are doing a fantastic job over the last few years of releasing all kinds of amazing poses and sculpts of women and men.

Can you give us specific miniatures they've released over the last few years that you find so offensive?

the Morats need to be the "Space Marines" of Infinity!
Strong Warriors in bulky Armor and wielding devastating Weapons, trained in military tactics who are fighting with Pride and Honor for the godlike E.I. and bring "the Transcendence to a higher evolutionary plane" to every life form in the universe.
Or just the "Military Order" counterpart of the "the Aliens" :grimacing:

I really like their staying power. I admit I am a shit player but ignoring LoL and retreat is great. It is also nice that they can easily get to 12-13 orders in group one meaning they can still kick ass after getting a bloody nose.

Suryats and Sogarats are beasts and Immunity AP on Soggys would be great.

I would love it their staying power increased. They are already competent gunfighters and that would push them a few inches towards glory.

I know a lot of these suggestions won't help make them tier 1 but anyone that is out to win aren't looking at Morats regardless. That won't change.
