I do agree with that the models of the army had similarities, but I think that the uniformness was part of the appeal. They were a uniform army. I do agree that it was a shame that they reused so many CAD parts. I remember bringing that up a lot when it started. There's a difference between creating two things that are meant to look similar because they are part of the same military force and just copying the exact same thing so it looks identical. Its the small differences in otherwise similar things that create character.

I also think that even though they were uniform, they were still fairly distinct, The Yaogot has a fair amount going on here to set it apart. So did the Rakortaks and Rodaks.

But this is just a matter of opinion and preference. We each like what we like.

I'm a bit late, but the Morat=Monkey thing was not just a meme, the white fur and red face is strongly reminiscent of the Japanese Macaque.

Of course the Oni of myths, especially red skinned ones, are likely inspired by the same animals. I agree that they're going more towards demon/Oni with the latest sculpts.

Tarik is not recognizable as the same guy? The small turban subfaction of Haqq, in it the chonky dude with a rifle/sword combo and a trenchcoat? Just based on that it screams Tarik.

The most important point! I hope that the rest of the re-done morat line is able to satisfy both sides!

On a separate note, what are the chances we get profiles for the Tag Raid TAG and the Riot Shield engineer? I'm going to use that model as some sort of proxy regardless of whether we get a profile but a high tech riot shield with an assault pistol sounds so Morat I'd love to have something like that represented on the table.

I was surprised that they didn’t get profiles for those. Especially since we got a hunter, at first I thought the Bultrak and Rindak would be. But seeing there profiles, the Tag Raid Tag is S7 and the names didn’t match up for any of those units when I looked back at the kickstarter.

On a side note, the shield guy is a good proxy for Kurgats.

Guess the Hacker will be proxy for Dartok and the Shield Engineer will be a proxy for either Kurgat, Rindak or any other S2. But it would have been nice if he had his own profile for sure :)

Yep, I plan to have the TAG as a second Raicho since I don't own the original, only the latest.

Now the key thing is - will it be worth getting a base extender and making that Prospector an S5 model, the extra arms really do make me think it could do double work as a second Kaitok :D Afterall, it's not like they gave Morats access to diggers anyway.

I like the idea of a 2nd Kaitok, will have to see how the model compares in size!

That's my plan but I want something like a fireteam nanoscreen with an assault pistol on that guy. Is that broken? Maybe, but it would also be friggin awesome.

I don't like the new Morats.
The N3 ones looked like proffessional army, menacing, brutal, original and stylish. They had character.
The new ones look IMO to generic and out of place. And long coat on Raktorak is just weird. Also Morats always were big and muscular, but had their proportions. The new ones are cartoonishly beefy with those bare arms, no wrists et cetera. Not all od them are bad, Anyat looks kind of cool, but I still prefer the older one.
And what's important, when you saw single old Morat (and knew a bit about Infinity) you could instantly tell that this was a MAF soldier. Suryat, Sogarat, Yaogat, doesn't matter, they shared some visual coherency and character. Now I see the Kaitok or the Kyosot and they could be in most of other armies, they lost their thing.

Not happy with that, as I'm a Morat fan since more than 10 years and I always treated my Tiger Regiment as a Free Army, that rebelled against CA and now fight against them... They were my Yautya in Infinity Lore, not some monkeys. And now they're comical instead of scary.

I've been browsing Human Sphere to compare old and new (and sort out my own Morats).

Just noticed this, how lazy is this. Argh.

I think you'll have to expand on that, what's lazy about it?

Especially early in the digital transition there were some units that suffered from being a bit too copy/pasted out of a library of faction gear pieces. As N3 wore on they got a lot better about making sure each unit has at least one unique visual element rather than just being boots #1, pants #3, armor #2, etc.

Again, I'm not sure what you're trying to highlight here?

Just that it has such a wide stance that it’s falling off the base? I don’t love that, but it’s hardly exclusive to this model. With the extra bigness of the new line we can probably expect more of that than average, but there’s always tension between dynamic poses (and I do like the sense of energy that guy has) and silhouette. Historically, Infinity has always allowed posing to trump strict adherence to base dimensions.

Edited to include that I always found the MAF starter Raktorak particularly egregious in this regard.

Even then, it's a case of the sculptor making a deliberate decision to push the stance to the limits that a 25mm base allows, I'm not sure how that qualifies as "lazy".

Raktorak is bad in this regard, but not THAT bad because part of the outlier is a rock that is securely attached to the base. With this new model, the model is barely hanging onto the base with the inner sides of the feet. Maybe a quarter of the foot is on the base, if that.

Moreover, this means either the sculptor did not know, understand or disregarded the game limitations of the 25mm / S2 silhouette and the CB accepted the sculpt instead of requesting it to be redone. It's LAZY, either increase the Silhouette size of the model if it's supposed to be that big or reign the sculptor in.

De gustibus non est disputandum and all that. I think it fits a big, bulky space oni/ogre, especially one that frightens the EI.

This Jayth is a more equivalent example; the Raktorak was called out because the stance is even wider.

I’ve assembled this model and it expects you to use the tab to securely mount the model in the base’s slot (the new bases still have those, you just have to cut them open). I expect the Morat hacker to be the same. Now, I don’t use the tabs and I’ll have to work around that, but the model and base as sold by CB fit together reasonably well.
