So I’ve played a few games of infinity (6 I think) and have settled on bakunin. Played my first game with them last night vs dashat.

    I ran

We played supremacy and I managed to put my riot grrls in a nice high overwatch position which took him 3 turns to crack open.

Game started fairly close with the scores staying low until turn 3 when he finally finished off the second ml then ran over the top of me.

My biggest problem I found is I didn’t feel like I had an offensive piece. Riot grrls are an amazing defensive piece but I found anything else I tried to push up got killed either by bad smokes from me or lucky shots from opponents. Do bakunin have a Rambo piece? I’m struggling to see one

Also, in true welcome to its sense, I missed the multiscanner roll 3 times (on a 16)

Had an awesome game and walked away with heaps to think about.

The quick answer is no, not really. These are your smashy units:

Riot Grrls (good at offense, but expensive)
Lizard (good at offense but can't defend itself)
Taskmaster (expensive, big, no shooting mods)
Moira HMG (slow, can't defend itself)
Prowler Spitfire (slow, struggles to generate wounds)
    Uberfall (slow, one-use only)

Bakunin just doesn't have a go-to guy - other than the Riot Grrls, they all have weaknesses and they all are prone to failure. I try to spread the burden over as many pieces as possible, take extra orders, and invest heavily in recovery to deal with unfavorable results. This faction is less about your guys dunking on theirs and more about you blowing up a whole link team with anti-personnel mines.

First, you don't have a Spitfire Riot Grrl. Without that, it will never be a Rambo piece.

Then there are the Prowler Spitfire and the Taskmaster Red Fury.
A Reverend Moira HMG with ODD in a link could work too.
    Burst is king in Infinity.

Kusanagi with a spitfire, BS14 ODD, comes with a pretty good mixed haris, though will need to operate from behind a screen of mines and morlocks so as to not die from being mobbed by enemy DTWs.

Tsyklons are cheap and effective assault pieces.

Taskmaster is always a solid option, 2 wounds, able to protect itself with koalas, DTW, reasonable in cc and a competent gunfighter.

Pi-well, while less of a door kicking rambo piece is a great scalpel piece, as he can knock down pretty much anything from 48" thanks to triangulated fire and either impose enough negative mods that he wont get hit or that the chances of being hit are super low.

Bran makes for a great guided missile into something your opponent really values.

Once you learn how to really abuse marker states Zeros (and maybe Prowlers) will quickly become star players.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that there is always just the good old Morlock swarm. Throw 6+ of these idiots up the table and they'll make a mess of your opponents front line.

I want to do the kusanagi haris team but being 100 pts plus the 150 odd for the riot grrl link doesn’t leave me much space at the end.

Do I load up in morlockes and flash bots?

Doctor also seems important for riot grrls with a zond not at 17pts.

    List building is hard

You don't take both. Bakunin isn't usually a LI faction.

This is where I’m struggling though. If I take the riot grrl link, do I use them for later offense as well or spam morlockes up the field?

If I take double ml and spitfire I have 0 swc left for anything else

Double ML and Spitfire is a lot of SWC invested in a team. I'd go for ML and Spitfire myself.

Well, because you didn't have one. Riot Grrls take too much points (half of the list) to be just a defensive link, if you spend so much on them you might as well just focus on using them. I'd swap one ML for spitfire (cause 5 dice at 16 bs is just too good) and multirifle for bsg (cheaper, tinbot and potentially hit on 22). I'd also drop chimera since she'll eat a lot of orders to be effective and try to squeeze Moira MSR (as an 'okay' aro piece and potentially good long range attacker since you have free swc, you can even drop white noise on her with lt order and hunt some msv if they stay in the open).

why moira? the sin eater is about the same cost and more effective in ARO, and going over to active you aren't losing much.

I just like ODD+white noise combo on active turn. If purely for aro, yea, sin eater msr might be better, although if taking sin-eater I'd try to squeeze HMG in list.
And if we take Sin Eater instead Moira, then Hacker+ LT is kinda useless and you can swap it for a bunch of moderators and morlocks and 0,5 swc for hmg...

Welcome to Bakunin! I fell in love with the sectorial when I first picked up the game at the beginning of N2 and I’ve loved them ever since.

The offensive Rambo piece that you are looking for is Bran do Castro. He’s not your typical Rambo piece however. He’s a surgical scalpel not a hammer. Utilize the camo, stealth from martial arts, and super jump to move across the board and use surprise shot and his cc to kill all the annoying things. He’s a total glass cannon and requires a bit more caution than say a devil dog but he gets the job done.

Yeah, I've had a bit of table-time with bran over the years. He's a good bully of lighter opponent's, use him as your reserve drop and go hunting t1. He's not gonna survive the game but he can take out a good chunk if you can utilise his mobility well

How do feel about morlocke/uberfall spam?
Not 3 full combat groups but say 7-8 across 2 combat groups?

It's much the same as Caledonian folk who spam 45th. If the board is dense and your foe has little to no msv2, you might have some success. But if not, they'll get picked off and be an irrelevance. It leaves you hurting for regular orders too. It's a proper "skew" list in that it's good at what it does under perfect circumstances, but godawful outside of those circumstances.
Uberfall are more reliable thanks to eclipse smoke but really need a big farm of regular orders to get them to where they're going

The big difference is that 45th spam from Caledonia usually runs William Wallace as Lt. with Inspiing Leadership, making them all Regular.

The thing about Nomads as a whole is we do single wound 0SWC offensive pieces as good as (if not better) than anyone.

Bakunin your options for that are:
    Bran
    Pi-well
    Uberfalls
CRAP Morlock (and any other Morlock in the right position)
    Lunokhod
    Zero (in a pinch)
Prowlers (which are expensive for what you get)

These can augment the firepower disadvantages we often have.

I think Grrls cores are a trap for learning the game. They tend to very one dimensional play unless you really know how to leverage the other strengths of Bakunin to support them.

But I'm biased: the list I learned to play Bakunin on was a static Moderator Core fuelling a solo Moira HMG, 2-3 Zeroes, 2-4 Morlocks, a Custodier and then as many REMs as I could fit in. I loved this list as it gave me lots of interesting solutions to problems, forced me to learn hacking and taught me to mitigate the weaknesses inherent in Nomads. It's not a great list by any stretch of the imagination but it allowed me to grow into it.

I beg to differ. While I do echo most of the feelings on this thread, I think bakunin can actually throw down fairly well in LI depending on the mission and/or the tourney. I've ran LI lists sucessfully with Bakunin, even against armies that are built thinking about LI (OSS, MO, IA).

Kusanagi in a 3 woman haris is one hell of a wrecking ball. BS14 plus ODD will fuck up a lot of stuff in this game, and if she's towing a reverend custodier wit HD+ she can even fight it out with an MSV piece, and the added Forward Deployment might allow her to skew the rangebands in her favor if it's a long range piece like a Missile Launcher or Sniper.

I think the biggest thing about Bakunin is that it's kind of a microcosmos of Nomads: you actually have a nice toolbox selection of units, but you need to tailor the list to the mission, and not think you'll have a single list that will solve all your problems.

I don't have that many reps of this faction sect under my belt sadly as I am far more likely to go vanilla.

My go to assult troop has been the Tsyklon of all things. Fast, cheap, can attack from odd locations.
Riot Girls would be my first pick but only in a team and that gets costly.
3rd place is the flashy but cumbersome and expensive Kusanagi who I don't really recommend all that much despite taking 3rd.

The girls might have lost some shine with all the new cool mixed fireteams out but I still enjoy this sectoral as it is a lot of fun.
