Why look past Nomads? Brutality of a Wukver? Uplifts. Superhuman abilities of a Rurihura? Metachemistry and genemodding :p
It was YOU that said "No More Nomadz, Pleez!!!". . . Seriously You coould play WHATEVER suits Your fancy (even a ROGUE Asura-Deva chassis of A.L.E.P.H.). . .
No, I said no more Corregidorians. Bakunin, Tunguska and Commercial Missions are still on the cards :p
Excellent! Choose whatever You like more. . . A Chimera Uberfallkommando really could be "Spec-Statted" to whatever Role You would like to play. . .!!
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOC!!! Minotaur Brigade Scout-Rangers "Alpha Team" @Golem2God = Liberto Helot "Former PanO Navy SEALS" ??? @inane.imp = Bakunin Military-Remotes Field-Operator ?? @Nuada Airgetlam = Tohaa Biotech Armour Specialist ???? @dhellfox = ??? @Ashen_Seeker = ??? I encourage the prospective Players to discuss amongst them their ideal Characters and how to fit them ALL in a "Low Intensity Light Infantry" group. . .
The idea is: You have a specialized, custom "Musclesuit Symbioarmour" everytime on; based on Mission Premise then You "Fit On" some kind of "Biotech Metaceramic Plates" on; light camo-active plates JUST in Vital Areas for "Long Range Recon Patrols" / heavy "Knight Full Plate" for frontline assaults against entrenched enemies. . . Will also suggest to act as "Offensive Field Medic" for the group; specialized perhaps in Viral Ammo for the weapons of everyone (not only prjectiles, but NASTY "Viral Cloud" Smoke Grenades) and ALSO healing the Characters wounded with "Superior Tohaa Biotech". . .
I was about to write the exact same thing, that I like the idea of being adaptable thanks to that "superior biotech", depending on mission parameters. If we need to be stealthy commandos, I take the Sukeul symbiont. When we need an infiltrator - Kiutaan symbiont. If the mission calls for a high mobility trooper - Kotail symbiont. A paradrop? Tarsos. I need to become the team's tank? Kiel Saan symbiont. Basically looking at all the Symbiont Armour profiles in Army and seeing each as a separate mission-dependent variant of what I could become. The only concern is that I don't want to tread on any other character role's toes. If we get a specialized Doctor (say Haqq), I could limit the Field Medic role to immediate assistance but medicine-medicine is his job and field of excellence, I just keep people alive until we get them to safety where the Haqq doc can do his magic. Same with all the other profiles - it's more to be able to do the same thing as the whole team needs to do (stealth, commando raid, infiltrate) just with my own flavour. If there's a particular role I'd like to save for myself it's the "tank", the ability to become a Kiel Saan.
That is what I was thinking too. So, basically, we have an infiltrator/sniper/jack of all trades(ish), a drone pilot/hacker and a jack of all trades/tank, right? I can be a hunzakut-repeater-FO/tuareg-hacker to help/protect our REM or a tuareg-medic (healer for everyone).
My experience with the Infinity RPG insofar. . . BOTH modularity AND redundancy are the keys; at LEAST 2 Medic-Capable PG, at LEAST 2 Tech-Savvy Repaires, 2 different "Stealth Scouts" able to cover each other. . . Better to have ALL Character as a sort of "Generic Jacks-Of-All-Trades" with ONE or TWO "Fields of Specialization" so to cover ALL needs for Mission Parameters. . .
Corebook. . . It is one of the MOST complete Rulebook+Story Background Manuals that I have had the honour to read in 35 Years of Roleplaying!! But is ALSO one of the largest!! (530+ Pages!!). . . The freeley downloadable "Quickstart" from Drivethru have the "most important basics" of the Rules covered. . .!!
I ask simply because I have both book in pdf but to learn the game's mechanics I prefer having them in physical form(printer awaits) Edit: to create the character, random or points choice?
Points please, I UTTERLY Hate & Despise the "Randomics%" of Character Creation from TOO MANY Play Evening wasted on "18%2 of Strenght for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. . .!!
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOC!!! Minotaur Brigade Scout-Rangers "Alpha Team" @Golem2God = Liberto Helot "Former PanO Navy SEALS" (?) @inane.imp = Bakunin Military-Remotes Field-Operator @Nuada Airgetlam = Tohaa Biotech Armour Specialist @Ashen_Seeker = ??? Unfortunately @dhellfox could ONLY Play with a Discord Audio-Video kind of gamestyle play (a thing that I'm NOT even considering), so we are around 4 Players for now. . . Could as well start to Plan. . . . .!!! Feel free to suggest ANY idea. . . .
So, after reading once the whole set of rules, I tried making an haqqislamite wanderer/doctor with the program: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uxDaBmSmDFoVKF9nvLEXVQUdx94gKtra How is it?
Seems quite solid to Me; let it be judged by the other Players. . . I tend to give away some "Gamemaster's Specials" as personalizing touches, but let's await for the decisions of the other fellow Players about the "Power Level". . . The Haqqislamite Branch of the Minotaurs Mercs though are at the forefront of "Experimental Biogenetic Researches" that are PROSCRIBED on Bourak (due to some rather serious Bans from the Imam's Councils); this especially considering the "Fellow Doctors" of the Bakunin Nomads and Tohaa "Renegades" that check upon the ALMOST INFINITE "Cornucopia" of Dangerous Critters on Planet Dawn. . . . . . . . Some sort of "Limited Regeneration" and/or "Runihura Lite Enhancements" would be a given. . . We well decide all together later. . .
Rigger built using the 12pt method. Haven't polished it off, but this is the way the build is going. I'm likely to buy some Geist upgrades and neural upgrades for my electronic gear with my Assets to start the game using the Gear in Character Creation method. Still haven't decided on what way to go with the cosmetic enhancements.... I think classic Morlock blue skin and tentacle hair.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/3kkwthbm8upwolw/Rigger.pdf?dl=0 My distinct preference is not to add any "Gamemaster's specials". I like the limitations :)`And if it's anything like the last game, simply getting access to mission appropriate equipment off-the-shelf would fill in any other needs. @Ashen_Seeker your stats are fairly low. Dying during character creation will do that because you lose the Attribute gain from the Faction and Social Status / Home Environment steps (so your -4 Attribute points on a 'standard' build). Don't die unless that's specifically something you want to play around with.
Seem also very solid Yours Rigger Character, Inane. . . You are right about "Mission Sensitive" Bonus as rather than "GM-Given Monty Haul" (would be AT THE END the same). . . Will start to compare the Stats of both Characters to have an idea of Enemy Profiles. . . Good catch on the reduced Characteristics of Ashen's PC; I would have TOTALLY missed the problems caused by "Death & Resurrection" issues. . .!!
Hakim 2 re-done. This time I used the random one. I don't dislike how it turned out, to be honest https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QPtsqWUFKpkaPT12jGUSeO2KsAOUNO5p
