Some states only can be removed with Engineer or rolling a dice stacking minuses... so yeah, you must take a Machinist, just in case
Well an engineer is always useful once so much power armour is present, so why not having him in a link? Knight Commander can be so much more than just impersonating a Crozier.
Because you can't have palbots, and the crozier link is not the kind that wants to move up the board where the buttons and eventually your TAG or immobilised HIs are.
Any link shenanigans to give perceived elevated abilities on the link team, or solo operatives, knights can be solo too, but even a MSL black friar alone is not something one can afford to ignore.
Sometimes you do not have the luxury of points, its an option to have, or you can design an aggressive link that can drag him along.
I'm just not seeing it man. You 'save points' on your engineer sure, but you remove a lot of his utility by having him stuck in the wrong place (surrounded by line infantry shitters instead of casting a wide net with servants) for most of the game, so there isn't much point to taking him. If you try him in a haris, you end up with a haris of line trooper shitter, engineer shitter with mines, and one solid wildcard. Too much investment for +1 burst and doesn't provide enough supplemental capabilities to be worth it. Maybe the idea is to have a core of Crosier, Machinist, +3 Wildcard HI? But then why not just let him be in the HI link to begin with like an Order Sgt can? Just doesn't seem well thought out to me. Dunno, maybe someone will prove that mindset wrong
Teutons have to rely on wildcards and OS to get their full core boni now. As for Koni, he is a wildcard since the start of N4. He was a sergeant in N3, though. But outside +3CC in N4, the only thing that changed on his profile since N3 is his cost. Order sergeants are the only LI allowed to join non-Crusade knights teams, so you'll find them pretty handful to lower their cost or had options to them.
@WiT? if you have him in a team and needs to be forwarded, the team moves midfield carrying him along splits into suppressive fire with a command token for midfield control and the machinists can now move independently.
@psychoticstorm Yes, that is how the rules work, but it doesn't address the issue I brought up - Machinist in core link isn't in a useful place to, well, be a Machinist. He is potentially in position to be a specialist with mines, but I don't think a core blob is the right place for this. Are you going to walk your blob over to your Seraph and fix it? Or even drop Engineer out of the blob and walk him alone. Both of these are less efficient and riskier than having the Machinist sit at the back and send the fast, expendible robot to do the job.
It's quite efficient if you want to headbut any problem you face with a KoJ as your team leader. With the support of a Lazarus and a Machinist, you can support such a team leader quite effectively.
Could anyone tell me, what happened too Jeanne? Some people told me, that CB killed her. And they told it like mockery :(
It's in there. She was killed during the defence and evacuation of Streslau but was resurrected later (Streslau is lost though).
I mean from hearing it told , recreations die all the time. Even Achilles dies often, the sole purpose of Patroclus is reigning in how much Achilles dies because each body is so expensive
can't believe how much more fun MO is to build in Army now. I keep coming up with different ideas and find it easy to surpass 10 orders now. This is going to be a blast!
Your Tag should always end its turn in your own DZ or close to it if possible and MO is very short on points - I've found that there's little alternative to using the MO Engi as link filler. The Tag in MO serves primarily for long range firepower, there's other, better choices for running towards the opponent.
