Absolutley. He can hide in impersonate until it's killed by other means. But he really shouldn't take on those super KHDs like interventors. He just offers a very powerful hacking attack like they do.
It feels like there are two routes here - 1.) Run khd and assault hacker in a link for sixth sense 2.) Run them outside a link to pull off the shenangians. Probably run Joan for free coordinated orders. Can you do the trick with a non hackable target and the khd which has stealth? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Keep in mine that IA will have more or less the same tools that yoi have, except for the father knight. KhD with deflector, high Bs, linkable stuff. So who goes first to coordinate hacker attacks against the oponent AHD usually will have the edge.
You know what? I went over the rules in repeater and hacking and I'm not sure theres anything stopping that...
Probably something like this: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant (Specialist Operative) Spitfire, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 43) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (1.5 | 15) ORDER SERGEANT Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) DART Submachine Gun, Viral Tactical Bow, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 34) SPEC. You don't need both, but you almost certainly need one or the other if you aren't going all unhackable for the mission.
Hmm, the HRLs provide aro once your hackers have done their thing. Dart and the order sergeants stand a good chance of seizing the centre. Interesting, I will have a think about it, as it's definitely not my usual sort of a list. Danke! Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
I would probably look at advancing the Core Fireteam into the middle of the table Turn 2 and defending the Center more aggressively.
I just tried that with a magister Teuton link the other day and let me tell you throwing double 1s and eating 5 shots from an HMG killed that plan quick.
I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing inherently. My dice just took the most epic nose dive right then and that slip and slide didnt end there
So I ended up not quite running what you did, and went with this: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 ORDER SERGEANT Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) ORDER SERGEANT Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) FATHER-KNIGHT Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 50) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant (Specialist Operative) Spitfire, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 43) KNIGHT OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE (Forward Deployment L2) Combi Rifle, Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 55) DART Submachine Gun, Viral Tactical Bow, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon, Knife. (0 | 34) TRAUMA-DOC (Father-Doctor) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) 5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army I won, but more by good luck than good management. He took first player, and deployed a heavy infantry link on his left flank, a couple of zenscha in the middle, and everything else was realistically chaff. He still got 14 odd orders out of it... bloody IA. I deployed my link centrally, and hid the KOTHS on the left flank as a blackfriar. His first turn he tried to do a hacking war, that surprised me by ending up with his killer hacker dead, despite having fairy dust and a tinbot B. He then manouvered around a bit with a zenscha in the cntre, killed my HVT, and then got one of the heavy rocket launchers (I left both out to ARO). My turn, I took 6 orders (!!!) to spec fire his HVT to death using my KOTHS, and then promptly got Dart critted off the board by an ARO. WE both held two zones. Second turn, he basically used a zensha to butcher my link team. I am so bad at deploying them. Somehow, I manage to get three zones that turn though, taking out some chunks of his link with my now solo Santiago lieutenant, and using the KOTHS to hold down a zone. His final turn is a mathsout, as he tries to work out how to hold the zones. I use the KOTHS with its holos to dance past the few remaining units that are covering lines, taking one of his antenna, and then use my Lieutenant to killt he zensha that is trying to save mine. The lesson I learnt was don't try the hacking war. Hacking ARO's are crap, and I am pretty confident he should have been able to kill both my KHD and AHD. It was more good luck that the dice went in my favour briefly. If I did it again, I'd definitely ditch the assault hacker and KHD, and replace them with something else.
Some mistakes you made which could have turned this better: - If you plan to fight the cyberwar, deploy your hackers in the neutral repeater zone. This way, your opponent can't cast Fairy Dust before trying to kill your guys. - If you dedicate your core for hacking, don't use it to for long range ARO. This is even more accurate if your ARO pieces are as squishy as an OS. - Why spec fire the HVT? Wouldn't it have been more interesting to kill the two Zensha first or send the KotHS in the face of the Zuyong core and kill the and then go for the kill at your second turn? Spec fire is for when you don't have much choice. - Wanting to fight the cyberwar without EVO is something crazy for me. The bonus you get from the GADGET-EVO programs like Kaleidoscope or Reboot are huge against hackers and the reroll in active turn is crazy. Against IA, I think the cyberwar is doable but you need to saturate your opponent. Two Hackers aren't enough in my opinion. I would have rather gone with this list: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 FATHER-KNIGHT Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 50) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant (Specialist Operative) Spitfire, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 43) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) ORDER SERGEANT Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) ORDER SERGEANT Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) MULEBOT Hacker (EVO Hacking Device) Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 25) TRAUMA-DOC (Father-Doctor) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) MACHINIST (Father-Engineer) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PALBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) GROUP 2 1 SPEC. All excellent points, and much appreciated! And to answer them: - If you plan to fight the cyberwar, deploy your hackers in the neutral repeater zone. This way, your opponent can't cast Fairy Dust before trying to kill your guys. - I did deploy them in a neutral repeater, but his Daoying Lieutenant wasn't inside one of the repeaters, so I couldn't reach him. - If you dedicate your core for hacking, don't use it to for long range ARO. This is even more accurate if your ARO pieces are as squishy as an OS. - Agreed. This was definitely something I learnt this game! In all fairness, one of the HRL's was more covering the corner/flank of the link team than acting as a long range ARO, but the other one definitely was. I ballsed up deploying my link team, as per normal. - Why spec fire the HVT? Wouldn't it have been more interesting to kill the two Zensha first or send the KotHS in the face of the Zuyong core and kill the and then go for the kill at your second turn? Spec fire is for when you don't have much choice. - It was right in a corner, and relatively well hidden, but the more honest answer is tunnel vision. I had this idea one day of killing the HVT with spec fire for safety (like you can do in unmasking), and figured this was a great way to do it that enabled me to avoid repeaters. In hindsight, I absolutely should have gone for the zenscha, the flip side being the KOTHS was my datatracker, so it would have been a bit of a priority target. - Wanting to fight the cyberwar without EVO is something crazy for me. The bonus you get from the GADGET-EVO programs like Kaleidoscope or Reboot are huge against hackers and the reroll in active turn is crazy. - Yeah, this I completely agree with. I I think in future I wouldn't fight it at all, and rely on the weight of Pano firepower and stealth instead.
The Daoying should have been hacked. Neutral repeaters are considered as repeaters owned by both armies and because of this, you're considered as in a repeater of your opponent. Meaning that you have access to any revealed ennemy hacker on the table. I don't know if you could have killed her but you should have the opportunity.
Hey guys, Have you considered playing MO with SpecOps? It seems apparent to me that SpecOps easily fixes huge issues in MO and instantly makes it much more enjoyable and competitive (and also allows to spam things more) MO Spam SpecOps ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant (Specialist Operative) Spitfire, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, DA CCW. SpecOps can do a lot: 1. You have cheap CoC that can hide somewhere 2. You have cheap Hacker Device that can either be linkable or, again, hide somewhere and cost 14 points instead of 21 3. Linkable Doctor or Engineer or Hacker in a Knight Link - easy, since OS can get anywhere 4. ODD/Redfury in full link as a scare attack piece 5. Minelayer for protecting that link / Lt of yours
My current league doesn't have spec ops, and I dislike them as a concept tbh. When they are used to fill holes like this, it just feels a bit like a workaround rather than anything solid Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Indeed, you have to have it allowed in the tournament. I'm merely pointing out that... maybe MO is created with this in mind? Since at least Order Sergeant can get into pretty much every viable link in MO and it seems like a huge opportunity to get someone useful in your knightly Core and Haris instead of just random 13-points order generator / 15-points button pusher. Meanwhile, it's possible to play Lt aggressively (as it's supposed to be in MO) without chain of command, it feels so much better with it hidden somewhere.
