Mercs getting to be too much?

    Sad to agree. Actually he's better than the Mech-Engineer. The Haido is not bad but expensive. Unfortunately I can't take the Monstrucker in Ikari & Dahshat.

    Like all mercs some factions will get more mileage out of than others.
    For example for back line engineering Nomads have the Clockmaker maker who is more reliable and for up the table theres the Tomcat.
    Ariadna have the Irmandinhos who can keep pace for free and are a little more reliable.

    But armies like Pano with the machinist who is fairly awful at his job are going to flock to the Monstrucker.

    Same goes for the Krakot in factions that already have access to good cheap warband troops.

    at the end of the day Mercs are fine, and are one of the bonuses for playing vanilla factions.

    They're not a "bonus for playing vanilla factions", they're just shoehorned in.
