just noticed today that my collectors edition bundle from drivethroughrpg got updated with a new book. flipping through it gear section there's some serious firepower added within; bio chemistry, feuerbach, anaconda and beetle (haq mk1 M-guard) TAGS to name some, along with vehicle upgrade option. there's also a merc career paths that include some of the major groups like druze and kaplan. it looks like a must have book. anyone who has read it fully whats your opinion?
Read the "Beta Trial Version". . . Seems to Me QUITE solid (Metal Gear SOLID. . .!!!) and useful. . . In fact I planned some details of My "Mercs on Planet Dawn" game around the provided material. . . . . .!!!
its amazing how the anaconda, the worst tag in the miniature game is the most customizable as most other released rpg tags have no hard points though im not happy that a ramhorn- 327 is just a reskin anaconda ATM
How usefull do you think is this book in terms of fluff? Does this book expands the Druze-background, or is it only useful for the RPG?
If you want a general idea of how mercenaries work in Infinity (legally, illegally, how ops are ran, getting jobs, how they get money, that kind of big picture stuff) then its great. The merc company overviews is the same stuff we already know with a few additions. So if you're looking for lots of new fluff on the Druze you'll be disappointed. New fluff on them is probably coming with the Earth sourcebook.
these is some additional information on certain merc companies that isn't in the core book (from memory) but not worth buying the book solely for it.

While there is NOT an enourmous quantity of infos about the Druzes, there is STILL a large quantity of useful informations about the "The Society" and hints abuout their Upper Echelons. . . I TOO am quite enamored of their interesting Fluff (even if I have to confess that what sold the Druzes to Me was the rather excellent Piece of Art depicting a Druze Squad escorting the Albanian Hacker, Valerya Gromoz, while storming a "Barrio / Favela" somewhere). . . Do You own or have at least read the "Outrage Manga", the only Official Comic of Infinity. . .?? Because is rather Druze-Centered as the "Evil Dudes" of the Comic and is TANTAMOUNT to very important BOTH if You want to have the Druze Society well depicted in "Game Background" (if You want them as centerpieces for the RPG) or simply for fleshing out fluff-blurb of the Mininatures that You want to deploy on a Wargame Table. . . . . . . . Form their very first inception (N1? N2?? Does not remember) I have collected ALL pieces of Art, Concept Dossiers, Fan-Made Illos and whatsoever "Druze Related Stuff" along the Web. . . Went insofar to try to "Imagine" some optional "Heavy Armour Variant" and "Light Skirmishers Warband" kind of troops based on extant Art (such as Powered Armour Druzes based on the "Ramhorn" Chassis Pieces of Scarface). . . Also they have a PROMINENT part to play on My Ariadna-Based "Merc Campaign" for the RPG Game that I'm about to Gamemaster. . . Will be glad to share Fan-Art and Homebrewed Stats here as soon as they are ready. . . . .!!!
Well, they have a Helmet that resemble the "Head Faceplate" of Briareos Hecatoncheire, the Military Cyborg (let's say an Achilles-Level Combat Lhost, but specialized in Sniping. . . . .with Antitank Cannons !!!) that is Squad-Mate and Life-Mate of Deunan Knute. . . Deunan Knute is the Protagonist of "Appleseed" the Manga by Masamune Shirow that CREATED the VERY concept of "Exoskeleton Employed in Paramilitary Black Ops". . . Deunan Knute and Briareos are the ESSENTIAL "Portemanteaus" of Infinity, both Wargame and RPG. . . . .!!!
Druzes, Kaplans and Beyhan Security from the Merc Manual are what I'm using to stat MEDIUM, HEAVY and LIGHT Infantrymen of Mercenary Forces deployed on Planet Dawn (both YOUR ALLIES in the Minotaurs, and RIVAL Merc Companies). . . Also Anacondas and Ramhorns are ESSENTIAL to have an Idea about the forces of "Mercenary Sponsored" TAG Squadrons that POTENTIALLY Your Merc PC would have to face (usually SHOULD be faced ONLY when one of Your Ops is HORRIBLY Botched !!!). . . . .
Well, we will judge "How WELL it works" for YOU too. . . . . .when Artair will be busy trading Sniper Bullets on rooftops. . . Much like Knauf and Jericho (that remember is "Druze Operative Stats" NUMBER 1 !!!). . . . .
The Infinity RPG game I was in switched back over to D&D, but I've been waiting for print editions of the books anyway. Is there any useful info on White Company?
Not in the book at all and from what I've seen that was a CB choice (who haven't talked about them in any great depth either for the wargame). They're probably showing up in another sourcebook. O-12 or the Earth book maybe?
White Company get name dropped in the Operation Kaldstrøm booklet, so they could be part of the N4 launch.
Yay, means they'll be showing up in future sourcebooks just like independent JSA stuff did after Uprising.
My guess is that they will appear next year as a sectorial. Could be the last NA-2 sectorial/faction we will see for a long time. I'm looking forward to what their units & links will be.
Defiance-second wave with whatsisname doesn't ship until like November. While it's certainly possible they'll do a general release sculpt before the Defiance one, it's also possible they just plan it for a late year release in general.
