I have mixed feelings. On one hand, for me there is only ONE Captain Marvel, and that's Billy Batson. On the other, I' such a huge fan of Miss Marvel that I'm just glad they're actually making a movie of her.
I did. Were there end-credits scenes that weren't just fan-pandering (like the rest)? I had other places to be, and since it was a free ticket, didn't feel too badly about doing so. All of the marvel stuff has got a bit samey in the last decade - but then I've usually felt that about their comics, too. My friends all gush about the MCU. I've never been that into them.
There was nothing during the credits; the movie just lets the ending settle on you. After the credits, you see Fury and Robin from HIMYM disintegrating while he pulls out some sort of upgraded pager and sends a message to Captain Marvel. As for the movies being samey, I both agree and disagree, but they're currently my favorite popcorn fodder, so I love it. I get all the references, enjoy noticing the easter eggs, reading behind the scenes stuff, and seeing characters I (used to) love to read in comics on-screen and in action.
If Dr Strange could use the magic-portaly-power to kill someone in Dr strange, then how come he couldn't do it again to remove Thanos' arm from his body? Then he could go retrieve the gauntlet at leisure while the spandex special kids beat down on purple. Guess it would have made for a shorter, less padded-out movie, that way. Can't have that. :D
It's my understanding that it wasn't a possible future he could manipulate into existence, after over a million attempts to do so.
But I am under no impression that death is permanent in marvel. They'll find a way to fingersnap it back to "make it never happened" land, they always do.
The fact that they already scheduled a Spiderman and a Black Panther movies should be a subtle hint...
Even easier, that is the plot of the original story. Yes, half of the heroes and villains (and the rest of the population) of the Marvel Universe were whiped out in a single finger-snap (Thanos' opening statement, not climactic final act); but in the end everything goes back to normal, such is the power of the Infinity Gauntlet.
I'm a proponent of Recycling :P Also technically spoilers for the first one, though anyone who cares has probably already seen it by now.
